PersonalityMANIPULATIVE
When you hear this particular principal’s name, manipulation is something you associate with it almost, if not entirely immediately. Mostly because he seems to ooze this particular sentiment. He learned from the best, of course - Amy probably isn’t too proud of what she managed to do to her husband - but there’s always room for improvement. That means you’d better watch out whenever Andrew is around. There always seems to be an ulterior motive to what he’s doing, something going on behind the scenes, a piece of the puzzle you’ve missed. He very rarely does something for someone just because (unless it’s Alyssa of course), but miracles do tend to happen every couple of years. This doesn’t mean that he wants to ruin anyone or anything - unless they’re a direct threat to the academy. He’s always been a man of his word, one way or another, and everything he does is for the benefit of the school and its inhabitants. It’s the personal side of things you had better watch out for.
SCARRED
Andrew may come off as cold and arrogant sometimes - but it’s only the very thick wall that surrounds his innermost thoughts. The whole affair with Amy has left him more scarred than he would want anyone to know, and he is afraid of reopening his heart and putting his affections on display. He has Alyssa, who is sort of a balm to the old wound, though she is a constant reminder of his ex-wife’s unfaithfulness. Deep down, somewhere way deep down, there’s still that golden boy from his educational years, though even Ned isn’t sure if he’d still be able to find him. And he’s definitely not going to open up to just anyone, there’ll have to be a lot of work put down on that front before he even considers cracking the door open for just a fraction of an inch.
LONELY
All things considered, despite his position and his usual neutral status when it comes down to it, Ned is a lonely man. Apart from Alyssa there really isn’t someone he can say he’s close to - although of couse his parents (especially his overly-caring mother) tend to send him emails once in a while. Just to be sure. But because of all that has been said, he’s basically alienated himself from the world in a way, and is now facing the problem of standing on his own. Not that he’d ever admit it bothers him - not out loud, of course not! - but people who know him, at least a little, can sometimes catch him gazing out the window in his office, his thoughts far away, as if he were somewhere else entirely. Somewhere different. But to get to know him on that level means getting close to him - and ignoring his annoyance.
C’est la vie.
Who I Once Was

Parents Jonathan and Marie Norris
Siblings none
Spouse Amy MacBride, divorced
Children Alyssa Norris, 5 years old
HistoryAndrew Eddard Norris was born 35 years ago to a middle class British couple living to the far north of the kingdom. He was an only child and a quiet one, and he grew up to be even less talkative. His mother Marie always said he took it after his father, and since their bloodlines had mixed old Saxon blood in it, they sort of considered it something that couldn’t be prevented. Andrew was home-schooled until the age of twelve, when he started attending public school, upon a request made by Marie to Jonathan. She didn’t want her only son to grow up a total recluse, so she was going to push this topic until her husband indulged her. And Jonathan did in the end, considering he did love his wife and son. So Andrew got to know a bit about out-of-home life while attending school with other children. He had some minor trouble with his art subjects, mostly because it was diagnosed that he was partly colour-blind, but that never stopped him from pursuing his passion for knowledge about history and various languages. He was given a Siberian Husky pup as a graduation present, and he still has a pup of that same bloodline.
He was accepted to Oxford university after finishing high school and he took various subjects, though he finally majored in World History and Ancient Languages, something that he was always called a nerd for, but it was what suited him best. He also passed the teaching exam somewhere along the way which would enable him to become a teacher, something that he enjoyed more than anything else. While studying, he met Amy, a cute brunette that stole his heart. To say that he fell head over heels would have been an understatement. The two became inseparable during their last two years of Oxford, and once they were out Andrew proposed, making his mother cry of happiness and his father a proud man. Amy accepted, and they were married in a quiet ceremony, like Andrew preferred. Amy was louder than he was, and definitely more demanding, but he loved her with all his heart - even when he found out she was having an affair and she announced she was pregnant. But the man she was having an affair with didn’t want anything more to do with her at that point, so she had to return to Andrew. Heartbroken and with a wounded pride, he wasn’t the man she remembered marrying. She had made him cruel - but he would let her go free, divorcing her from his ‘boring lifestyle’, on one condition: the child would remain with him. When little Alyssa was born, papers were signed, and Andrew gained sole custody while banishing Amy from his life. For all intents and purposes, Alyssa was his daughter now.
When Andrew was 32 he applied for a teaching position at Vineheart Academy, and also for the position of principal, since there was a lack of it. However, he was considered too young for the job and they didn’t need a substitute teacher, though they did tell him his application was the second to be considered. He returned to his hometown with Alyssa and worked as a teacher there for three years until he got a call from the States - the principal had just resigned and, while there was a Vice Principal he’d been their second choice and if he was still interested, he could have the job. Not commenting on the fact that he was only three years older than the first time, Andrew accepted and packed up, moving to Redford with Alyssa, who was now five years old. This would be a fresh start for the both of them, after the whole charade with Amy and everything. Of course students might think that, being relatively young, Andrew would be lenient - but thanks to Amy MacBride, he was anything but.
