At first he wasn't so sure she was into this. Was she nervous? Did she want him too? Did she want him at all? He could certainly feel the burn from the touch of her lips and the softness of the kiss. He was, honestly, about to pull away when something clicked and she pressed herself against him, finally returning the kiss with an eager passion. The feel of her body so close to his sent spikes of electricity down his spine, and he thought his shoulder, where her hand now rested, would burst into flames. He'd kissed plenty of girls; many were good, many were not. Many he couldn't even remember. But he could honestly and completely say that kissing Bri, at this very moment, was the best feeling he'd ever had. Was this what it felt like to be drunk from a kiss? Romeo wasn't really the type to be extremely romantic nor get fluttery, mushy feelings -- but the closeness of Bri and the intensity in which she was returning the kiss was driving him wild.
When they both pulled away, Romeo was grinning from ear to ear, satisfaction clear in his expression. He'd finally gotten to kiss the English princess, something he'd wanted to do for a long time now, ever since her birthday party. She looked like such a dream tonight that all he really wanted to do was kiss her again, but he knew they had a few things to discuss now that they'd both admitted their feelings. Gabriella looked flustered and still nervous, evident by her reaction, and a mischevious look flickered in his stormy grey eyes. "I get that a lot," he teased, but it was obvious he was being genuine, and that he'd thoroughly enjoyed that kiss. His hands were still resting against the back of her neck and in an effort to give her some room to breathe, he took a small step back and dropped his hands to her wrists instead. The warmth of her skin was too intoxicating for him to keep too far away.
For once, though, Romeo was at a loss as to what to do. Where did they go from here? Did this mean she wanted to be with him? He certainly wanted to be with her, more than anything. It had been two years since he'd wanted someone this badly, since he'd even considered a serious relationship, and he wasn't about to let her slip through his fingers. Not after that kiss, anyways. "So now that it's established that you definitely like me," he began with a grin, "Does that mean you'll go on a date with me?" He asked. The question came easily -- he'd had his fair share of experienced with asking girls out on a date -- but it meant far more to him than that. If she rejected him now...well, he wouldn't show it, but it would truly break him. You didn't just kiss someone like that and then reject them, right? But Bri was unpredictable, much like Romeo, and so he couldn't quite expect what she would say.
And then, of course, there was the matter of returning to the Gala. Everything that had happened out here, in this private hallway...did it return with them to the lit ballroom? Or would she run off with her friends or pretend like it had never happened? He knew he shouldn't be overthinking this, but he couldn't help it. The suave smile on the outside did not match the uncertainty on the inside. Who knew if her mind was still wrapped around this whole engagement thing...even if it was, in truth, a big deal. He had a mere six months left before he was walking down that aisle and he had no desire for that fate to come true. And then what about Gabriella? How long before she and Dante were to marry? He had an even greater desire for that to not happen.

The way he said it was almost, almost mocking and Gabriella took it as a challenge. With that, there was nothing else left to do but slide one hand up to the prince’s collar and gently tugged his beautiful head the last few inches towards hers. Her lips barely brushed his, the barest whisper of a kiss before pausing and holding stock still, waiting for some sort of reaction from him. This was right; it had to be. Nothing wrong could have felt so completely right. It simply wouldn't be fair but then again, life rarely was. The instant Romeo reacted she pulled back teasingly and ever so softly pressed her lips against his cheek, enjoying the sound of his uneven breathing. So, even the suave prince hadn’t been completely unaffected by what had just happened. ”So do I.” Bri pulled back with a grin on her face, fully composed again. It was a complete, total and utter lie, but it didn't matter. She felt wild and full of adrenaline, and all of a sudden it seemed like the party was in the hallway with them instead of through the doors in the ballroom. Who wanted to be in there dancing with boys who practically drooled on them when they could be out in the quiet with a boy who was himself drool-worthy?
This was such a bad idea. Maybe a kiss was all he’d wanted and the whole thing would be over and done with. Were that the case, Bri would simply go up to her room and lick her wounds in peace. Romeo had a serious look on his face, like he had something to say. It made her nervous, but she tried her best to keep the light, playful grin on her face. Him pulling back didn't help her nerves at all either, even if his hands had still captured her wrists. After all the pressure he’d been putting on her personal space it felt strange –no, wrong- to have him be the one retreating. Why was he backing away like that? Gabriella hadn't kissed anyone in a while; maybe she'd done it wrong? Could a person fall out of practice with kissing? Was that even possible? The smirk on the prince's face told her that he'd thoroughly enjoyed their moment together, but now the question was what the two of them were going to do now.
She'd never crossed the friendship line quite so thoroughly with anyone who truly mattered to her. Rejection at this point would mean damaged confidence and losing her best friend. Bri had super glue up in her room, so fixing her heart wasn't a problem. Luckily the two of them didn't appear to have been spotted, and the dimly lit hallway was sort of romantic. When Romeo asked if she'd go out on a date with him, their eyes locked, dark and light trying to each see inside the other. ”We definitely shouldn't you know,” she informed him with a come-get-me grin. ”Do we get to wear disguises?” Her laugh rang through their part of the hallway but unless someone was standing between them and the doors the sound was probably drowned out by the music.
Noticing the glance he gave the doors she pulled away regretfully. ”We should probably get back. We're pressing our luck as it is and if we don't...” Bri's cheeks coloured slightly at the implications. ”Well, they might get the wrong impression.” The thought nearly sent her into a fit of giddy giggles, because in this case the gossip blog would have been spot on. How often did that happen, seriously? The brunette would be processing what had taken place in the hallway for the remainder of the dance and probably long into the night after that. What would her parents say? Oh god, my parents... Gabriella didn't even want to think about it. Her hands -now free- ran lightly down her dress a few times to smooth out any wrinkles. If this was going to stay between the two of them there needed to no changes in their outer appearances, even if Bri felt way different on the inside. Did she know the kind of effect she had on him? She must have, judging by her fearless smile. Such a different change than the uncertain girl a few minutes ago, and Romeo didn't know whether to be pleased or concerned by this. He was glad that he'd finally gotten a reaction out of her that clearly meant she had feelings for him, but what if it was only temporary? As arrogant as it probably sounded, Romeo knew how to get what he wanted. He knew he had effects on girls and he knew he could hold their attention with one glance. With Gabriella, he'd had to work for it, work hard for it, and now that he had it...how long would it last? And what if she still had not decided to pursue this? A kiss was a kiss...but a relationship was another thing.
Which was why, after bringing up the subject of a date, he was slightly confused by her suggestion of disguises. Was she just joking around, or did she really not want the world to see her with him? If she was serious, Romeo could understand her reasoning -- Dante had already screwed up the whole engagement factor and Bri had always seemed a bit hesitant in rebelling against it so as not to shame her family. The engagement was already strained as it was with everything that had happened in the beginning of the year. But that had not stopped her from hanging out with him, alone and in public. So, what, then? She'd just admitted to fancying him. Wasn't he allowed to take her on a date? He wanted everyone to see them together, to have his parents see that Romeo had no desire to be with Aubrey at all. What could they really do to stop them, thousands of miles away from Vineheart?
But she'd laughed at her words -- meaning it was a joke, right? Following along with this, he rolled his eyes and grinned. "When do we ever do what we're supposed to?" He pointed out. "And you can't disguise this," he added, waving his hand across his torso. Romeo was making a joke, but really he was mulling over her words in his head, wondering why one of the most important people in the world to him was afraid to be seen with him, in public. Automatically his eyes diverted to the doorway, and he wondered what was truly meant as public to her. Clearly, she'd been a little flustered to have him dance with her in the ballroom, but she'd danced with plenty of others, so that seemed like little concern. So was anything outside of Vineheart classified as public?
He was broken from his thoughts by the sound of her voice and his gaze shifted back to her face, lingering on the warm pink tinge of her cheeks. Wrong impression? He lightly bit the inside of his cheek to keep a foolish smile from forming on his lips, but he was not done here yet. In fact, he had no desire to go back to that Ballroom, now that he was out here. However, she seemed anxious to return. Romeo nodded, still holding onto her wrists as he turned away, but instead of leading her back into the dance hall, he simply stepped forward, closing in on her personal space. He didn't stop moving, knowing she'd be forced to move backwards with him, and he kept going until she was up against the wall of the left side of the hallway, her face immersed in shadows so that they would not be seen. Romeo pressed lightly against her, his hands trailing up the skin of her arms until they rested against the cool stone on either side of her head. "What kind of wrong impression?" He asked innocently, his lips dangerously close to hers. He wanted her to return to that Ballroom barely able to contain herself. He wanted her to want to be in his company the rest of the night. He grinned mischeviously and then bent down to kiss her again, this time lingering a little, just to give her something to think about. The kiss was over before she could protest, and then he backed away from her, sending a wink in her direction. "I think I'll just head back up to my room," he commented, nodding at her. "But you can go back inside."

There was a difference. "Well spotted, and why should we?" Gabriella knew it was a very fine line they were walking, but he was so magnetic that it was impossible for her to say no. The suggestion of disguises had only been made half jokingly, but it wasn't what he obviously thought. Oh yes, Bri read his hesitation and confusion easily enough since his apathetic mask was currently missing. She wished he was holding her hands so that she could give them a reassuring squeeze, but had to settle for a soft smile instead. "I'd love to." Disguises would make things simpler, because if they went out as themselves it was almost guaranteed the pair of them would be spotted and recognized. If that would be a good or bad thing remained to be seen. In order to ease his mind, she continued in the joking track they were headed in as he waved a hand over his clothed torso. Bri had to admit that disguising... well, that really would be difficult, but there was no need to tell Romeo so. "I'm pretty sure your Halloween costume could do it," Bri giggled, remembering the ridiculous outfit he'd worn to the Halloween bash the Kings and Queens had thrown. Speaking of magnetic...
Despite the firm but surprisingly gentle grip Romeo had on her wrists, Bri wasn't worried about what was going to happen in the next few minutes. He wouldn't hurt her, that much she knew for sure, and she trusted him -mostly. This time when Romeo encroached on her personal space Gabriella didn’t move away until he was quite close and their bodies were almost touching again. Her head turned slightly to the side to make sure he wasn’t backing her into anyone or anything, and realized they were heading for a wall. The darkness gave a feeling of secrecy and security to what they were doing, and even if someone were to walk right past them they’d only be able to make out their silhouettes. Romeo’s dirty blonde hair might give him away, but for him to be caught kissing a girl wasn’t unheard of or even unusual behaviour for one of the Kings. No one would think it noteworthy, even the gossip blog.
Why did she still feel like she might pass out, even now that she had oxygen? “Bloody hell,” she managed breathlessly. As if Romeo really needed an answer to that question. His eyes glittered dangerously as she felt her back touch and press against the cool wall. Gabriella was powerless, as though Romeo had stolen all of her willpower with the touch of his lips only moments before. She fidgeted with eager anticipation and the voice in her head saying this was a bad idea had been silenced, for good she hoped. When his head lowered to hers again Bri’s hands did the only thing they could, grabbing his shirt collar and holding on for dear life. Oh god, his lips were so soft. Better than chocolate, better than anything she'd ever tasted before, and Gabriella wanted more. His body was pressing hers against the wall –a good thing, considering how her legs had turned to jelly. Her last breath had been sharply inhaled right before their lips had met so when Romeo pulled away the instant before resettling into a second kiss Bri managed to get another short burst of air. The trip her hands made from his collar to cup his face was a quick one and her palms itched against the bristles on his face. Nothing had felt this good since -no, nothing had ever felt this good.
Gabriella was embarrassed to say that it was he who pulled away first, not her. Without the pressure of his body holding hers against the wall, Bri's legs had to support her again; a difficult task His question went unanswered for a second while she gathered her wits before telling him, "I think you know what kind, being Vineheart's 'bad boy' and all." Her sassy expression was softened by the secretive smile she was wearing, the one just for him. Bri ran a hand through her hair, trying to settle her somersaulting stomach. Romeo certainly wasn't playing fair, cutting out after getting her all worked up, and Gabriella wanted nothing more than to return to her own room now too after all of the excitement. Unfortunately, one of them needed to return so no one would be any the wiser, though his fellow Kings would probably ask a few questions once they realized Romeo had left early without a girl. "That's too bad," Gabriella tossed the words over her shoulder as she turned away and headed back to the door. "You'll be missing out." Yeah, missing out on her having to dance with guys she didn't want to and socialize with people she had no desire to. Lots of fun. On the bright side, at least she had something to think about and get her through the boredom of the next few hours. Oh yes, Romeo had definitely given her something to think about. Romeo immediately felt relieved at her reassuring smile. Why was he worrying at all in the first place? Romeo didn't worry -- he rolled with the punches and did as he pleased. Besides, he was well aware that just because they'd admitted their feelings and shared a (great) kiss didn't mean they were together now or anything. Who knew, maybe in a few weeks they'd decide it wasn't going to work out? But then again, Gabriella was one of his closest friends, closer than any other girl at this school and he was certainly beginning to get closer with her than he was with the Kings. To lose her friendship made him squirm inside, made it too uncomfortable to think about. So, in a way, a date was not just a date between them -- it was taking that next step from more than friendship. Still, there was no need to over think it. There was no need to brood. She clearly had feelings for him, and he was going to leave it at that.
The effect he drew from her resulted in a smile against her lips, the warmth of her so close to him enough to leave him wanting more. The heat of her breath against his face and feel of her body pressed against his sent shivers through him, his mind losing all thought processes for just a brief moment. He was supposed the be the one seducing at this very moment, and yet she had just as much power over him with her reactions. Her hands cupped his face and he took this as a good sign, leaning in closer to deepen the kiss. Romeo didn't think he'd ever had a kiss like this before...and she said she hadn't dated a lot of guys, please. There was no way she could be this good without experience. The silk of the dress did nothing to hide the curve of her body close against his and he had to pull away for a moment to pull himself together, knowing that his mind was getting far ahead of himself.
A smirk twisted onto his lips as he stepped away from her, giving her plenty of room to try and regain her composure. He surely needed the air, after all. But now she was teasing him with that look she was giving him, and Romeo almost had half a mind to follow her back into that Ballroom. But now that they were out here, alone, he had no desire to go back in there, where he'd have to pretend like none of this had ever happened whilst watching the other princes try to gain her attention. Sure, he'd probably be distracted on his own with other girls, but he found he didn't really want to dance with the other princesses. None of them compared to Bri anyways, most certainly not after that heated kiss. Besides, returning to his room meant less questions from his friends as to why he'd gone without a date; they wouldn't really ask why he returned early, simply because Romeo tended to always be a little mysterious and unpredictable like that. Sometimes he liked being the life of the party, sometimes he liked being on the sidelines with a cigarette in hand. It all depended on the night.
He shrugged lightly, pretending not to care. "Eh, I still have memories of tonight," he countered with his signature grin, purposefully letting his eyes give her a once over. "You're welcome to join me, however," he teased. Okay, so he was being unfair and a tad bit inappropriate, but would he be Romeo if he were otherwise? Romeo jokingly blew her a kiss, now just trying to make her laugh more than anything, before turning away, heading towards the nearest flight of stairs. "See you later," he said casually over his shoulder, knowing very well he'd have quite a bit to think about when he made back up to his room.
