It wasn't her fault really; if he prodded and pried into things so completely personal to her there were bound to be answers she gave that weren't to his liking. They didn't have to agree on everything all the time anyway, even if it felt like he'd understood her more than anyone else had so far. Well, it had been nice while it lasted. There was no competition against Vivien when it came to the engagement because there was no competing with someone the other person chose for themselves. There just wasn't. It was alright though since Gabriella had no romantic feelings whatsoever for the Spanish prince, nor would she ever. It just wasn't like that for the two of them. At his statement that she was allowed to have an opinion if she wanted to Bri did little more than shrug and make a small noise of affirmation. Just because she had an opinion didn't necessarily mean she wanted to share it, and just because Dante had screwed over every single girl he'd been with so far didn't mean he was necessarily going to do that to Vivien... it just made it way more likely. Bri hoped to goodness her twin knew what she was doing, because this had already blown up in their faces once, and once was more than enough for Gabriella. As she finished doing up the straps on Kalli's blanket Bri slung an arm over the mare's back and turned to look at Romeo. She raised an eyebrow at his disbelieving tone that she thought Dante would marry her and still sleep with other women on the side. Had Dante really not told the Kings about the scheme to overthrow the prince of Austria or whateverthenameofthecountryshecouldneverrememberwas with little more incentive than the promise of a blowjob and meaningless sex? If that was really all it had taken, surely Romeo would know that Dante would do just about anything to get laid. Ladies man, womanizer, cheater, she thought vehemently. Outwardly she maintained a mostly calm demeanor, but it was impossible not to tighten the muscles in her shoulders and jaw. Romeo had hit a nerve and it looked like he knew it too. This wasn't what Bri wanted for her life, and it wasn't what she wanted for her marriage either. She was only eighteen for goodness sake! True love was something she had yet to experience, and if she was married to Dante there was going to be absolutely zero chances of that happening. The bottom line was that this wasn't how things were supposed to be, and something had to be done about it... fast. Romeo gave her some advice, telling her that hiding wouldn't do anything to help her situation and she nodded in understanding. He might have been right, but that didn't mean she was going to do what he said. Stubbornness and pride might not allow her to give in on this one, and working together with Dante was the same as admitting that he was right -at least, that's what it felt like to Bri at the moment. Her hand stroked Kalli's velvety nose while Romeo put Paris away, and when he came out and said he had faith in her Gabriella's eyebrow raised again. Was he just saying that, or did he really believe it? If he did believe it, Romeo was probably one of the only ones. It was a disheartening thought, but it gave Gabriella motivation to do just what he'd said. Her attempts so far had been... less than what she could have done. It was time to take this to the next level. Bri un-clipped Kalli and led her back into her stall, checking to make sure she had enough food and water. Romeo's footsteps were walking away down the aisle, and Gabriella made it to the door just in time to hear his farewell. “Let's hope so, Italy,” she said softly as the prince rounded the corner and out of sight. She stood there for several minutes, thinking about what a strange encounter she'd just had with Vineheart's bad boy as Kalli nuzzled the princess' shoulder. He hadn't seemed so bad to her. In fact, despite frustrating her Romeo had made her really think about what what was going on. More than anything though he'd listened, and it had been nice. Maybe Vineheart's infamous heart breaker wasn't such a bad boy after all. And we're done! table by CALIFORNIA DREAMING of CAUTION 2.0 |
