May I be so nosey as to ask what conference you're preparing?
My classes have been going rather well. The students don't seem to be as much of a terror this semester as they were last, but then again that could be because last term was my first one.
Grading wise, I'm utterly swamped. But having a child to care for, plus a new pet, doesn't help at all with the grading.------

I'm supposed to be giving a demonstration on a new taping technique and then explain the advantages of this new technique. Not too difficult, but I haven't used this technique on too many students here. I completely understand. My first semester of teaching here was pretty intense as well. Though after a while the students go used to my style and behaved. I can imagine. How old is your child if you don't mind my asking?

That sounds rather intriguing. Yeah, I've noticed the students here tend to not be as accident prone as compared to a "normal" high school, I suppose.
Getting used to my style probably is what was so difficult, and knowing that just because I was young and new didn't mean I was going to take a lot of crap and let them get away with stupid stuff.
I certainly don't mind. She's one of my favorite topics of conversation. (: Nikola is almost three, going on twenty. She very much has her own mind, and is very expressive.------

Yea I totally understand that and from both points of view. As a teacher it really is best to be strict, though I prefer a more laid back approach, though I don't tolerate any messing around. From a student's prospective though nobody really wants to do all of the work especially since most of them already have their lives handed to them.
I'm sure she's adorable. Gotta love the independence and intelligence of a toddler.

Could you imagine the stink that would cause? You wouldn't believe the amount of phone calls I've received threatening a 'royal visit' because their precious children are practically failing. Please, I will not get them special treatment. This is still an academic environment, first and foremost.
I'm all for letting them have a little fun and cut loose, but there's a time for it and that time is not during instruction. Free time? Sure. If you're done with classwork? Awesome. But not when I'm teaching.
Haha, sometimes I wish time would slow down. I want her to stay this little forever, but I know that's impossible. She is very independent for her age, and very smart.------

Those parents' can be so nasty and I totally agree with you. The whole point of being at Vineheart is to learn and if they can't do their own work or handle passing a simple class how the hell are they supposed to rule their country?
I agree, but you have to remember that back at home they're all spoiled rotten and can basically get away with murder

What scares me the most is that some of these kids will be going straight into ruling almost immediately after they finish here at Vineheart... -shudder- I don't go easy on them, you can't.
But then again, I treat them all equally because it isn't fair to the ones who aren't treated like they're priceless and get everything handed to them back in their countries... some of them do know what they're doing, and those ones are the reason I'm doing what I do.
I don't even want to think about that. You, Mr. Sullivan, just became my least favorite person on the planet. I'm locking her away now.

See now those are the kids that I can respect because they have to work hard to get things done and it makes me feel great to know that I helped them mature. I'm not the biggest fan of the ones who think they're all that because their parents spoil them. Sorry, but just because your parents think your the shit doesn't mean I have to.
And that's ok, I tend to be everybody's least favorite person. It just happens that way (:

It's not like they need to go into retirement or anything. What happened to the good ole days of ruling a country where you beheaded your wife and married 6 more until one outlived you or you were forced out of ruling by a revolution?
In some ways, it's not fair that just because they're not the firstborn that they don't get any attention - then they're forced to try and gain attention in other ways, be it academics, athletics, or just showing out - some way, they're going to get noticed.
Well, I'm sure you won't be my least favorite forever, just until I decide to let Nikola out which will probably be when she's 40 so you've got another 37 years (:

Nice thought, but now they're all for having the kids screw things up, so that way they don't get blamed for declining economies. It's quite sad actually. Can't say I'm surprised though.
Yea and the ones who strive for attention usually get the short end of the stick no matter what they do. It's sad that academics and sports can't always help them.
Oh good, glad to hear that I'll only be hated for half of my life. That's a vast improvement compared to how most feel about me.

Sounds a lot like the current government situation in our own country... -.- You screw it up, then someone else takes over and they get all the blame, how wonderful.
I know the problem... so many of these kids come from "trophy" lifestyles... They do one thing right, or only participate and they get all the praise that we would have only gotten had it been first place growing up...
If you're lucky, maybe it'll change before then... You never know, miracles can happn (;
