It was the most romantic thing he had done in probably his life time. His plan had worked out perfectly and Heidi did not suppect a thing when he snuck off that morning to get everything prepared. A nice valentines gift with all of the valentines decorations that he could get his hands on. The holiday had passed about a week ago so everything was cheap but they had run low on all of the good stuff. So it was really all that he could grab that kind of matched. Pink hearts and red hearts and purple hearts covered the area on the ground leading up to the courtyard. A little path that lead to his even more romantic location. The center of the courtyard had been decorated as best as Dritan could do. Fresh flowers had been added to the bush to make it look like they were in full bloom and they were every shade of red, pink, orange, and white that he could find. A table sat right in the middle with a single candle stick to light up the area directly at the table. While streamers and chinese latern type things hung from the light poles and trees to further illuminate the area.
Something out of a romantic fairy tale were the charming prince fell in love with the servant. This tale would not end like that because Heidi would fight him tooth and nail to prevent it. But he hoped that he could mend things between them for her final few months under his employement. His parents kept asking him what he wanted to do after he graduated from Vineheart and he could only answer that he did not know. Go to college with Heidi was the answer he wanted to give but if Heidi never told him where she was going then he could not go. He would have to watch her walk out of his life like the rest of the women that he "loved". Either way it didn't matter, he was secretly planning for another binge after he graduated and after Heidi left his employment. Some sort of extremely sad celebration that was meant entirely for him.
Dritan finished up in his room and put the gift that he got her into the pocket of his coat. The dinner would be cold but he thought they would manage to survive. Then he ran from his dorm room back down to courtyard. Once there he took a seat and grabbed his cell phone out of his pocket. A single text message that he knew would her running to his aid. It had to be believable but without the need for her to be scared. His fingers glided over the keyboard as he typed something out.
Hey Heidi... so drank... in courtyard. Help me to bed? was the message that he finally sent her. Then he knew it would be just a matter of moments before she came running. to find him and save him. Then she would see his grand romantic thing and forgive him instantly. He smiled at himself, very pleased with his plan. His arms crossed his chest and he kicked his feet out so he was leaned back slightly. A bright smile on his face as he looked down the path that lead to the court yard.

A day off. Actually a night off. There was no work to do so Heidi just simply lied on her bed in her room and enjoyed the rare free moment. Life was actually a circle. A circle is perfect. She so accidentally loved perfection. So she did not want to change a thing about the circle of her life. School and work; work and school – nothing in that perfect routine should be changed. Later when she was no longer a student and a servant of the Albanian prince, she would arrange another perfect routine for her life and she was pretty sure that she would die happily if it came true. A lot of people did not like to know what would happen tomorrow or the day after, despite the fact that life would be much easier if it came with instructions. Heidi did not despise them but she disliked them as much as she disliked surprises which suddenly jumped in her life and sometimes scared her to death. However, she did not believe that she had a chance to avoid those annoying surprises due to the fact that she was Dritan’s servant, who was already a big surprising problem. She faced down on the pillow as she wanted to prevent the desire to hit her head against the wall when she thought of his strange behaviors lately. He was still as silly as a ten-year-old boy but with a ridiculous confidence. She laughed at his words as she remembered when he said that he would court her first, at least before proposing. His sense of humor was sometimes helpful for her but sometimes it made her worried as well. How random it was when worrying was a part of her job and it seemed like she would not be able to sleep well without a few worries spinning around in her head. Every time the baby Dritan got out of her sight, she felt a huge concern on her chest as if it weighted a million pounds or so. She was afraid that he could not stay away from trouble without her yelling, scolding, screaming, grumbling, reminding, etc; and she obviously could not follow every step of his though she tried to do that several times. Well, anyhow, they were just the worries for the future when she left him for college; what she concerned at the moment was something different. Heidi had been his babysitter for quite a long time so she had no reason to say that she did not know him well enough. And she also knew that once he said something, he would do it, regardless the difficulties. That was a precious personality which people would like to describe as the stubbornness. She definitely was smart enough to understand that most of successful people all around the world successfully achieved their success by being incredibly stubborn and somehow she should feel happy when realizing her boss had the potential of a successful man. But in fact, she was more worried since Dritan never appeared interested in business or something similar but his interest was in something else – something she was not able to control or even be aware of; something called ladies. And his latest plan was some kind of luxury dinner with her, which seemed to cost a lot. Certainly she did refuse but who the hell knew what he was thinking. Heidi suddenly imagined herself giving him a punch on the face when they both were standing in front of a restaurant so as to have an expensive dinner. She would do that seriously if he dared not listen to her this time when she said NO. But once again, who the hell knew what he was thinking about? That shifty little boy always had plans in his head.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the ring of her phone. Someone had just sent her a message. Normally she hardly ever received any messages from anybody simply because she did not have so many friends to make her phone ring all the time. Usually it was the king or the queen’s call to remind her keeping their son out of trouble, especially parties and alcohol. But they never sent a text message. Heidi got up and grabbed the phone. Her eyes quickly scanned the message but still she was given enough to time to understand it completely. Now the problem of her life got himself into trouble again. She was such an idiot when thinking that he was… more mature as they were in the library a few days ago. But Heidi did not have that much time to concern about how stupid she was; she rapidly put on her coat then ran quickly from her room to the courtyard. Lying on the bed had made her hair messed up a bit, just like she was wearing a bird’s net on her head but she did not care. Dritan, after all those years, was still so good at making her freaked out. It appeared that he did not learn anything from the terrible experience at the small event in Albania. A drunkard was still a drunkard. The cold wind blew against her face so hard when she ran but she did not feel the cold but the heat of her anger instead. If the King and Queen figured this out and she would be so dead! As for Dritan, he probably would be sent back to Albania and have to spend the rest of his life behind the walls of his room since his parents would not trust him to let him come out to see the daylight again. “Dritan, Dritan, Dritan! Why are you being like this? Always a problem! You cannot do anything better than causing trouble?" She mumbled angrily as she tried to hold back the need to curse something. Finally she had made it to the courtyard. Well… she had to stop to breathe and also to stare. What the hell was happening on Earth? The courtyard was decorated beautifully with colorful hearts – very classical and old school. But regardless the flashy scene in front of her eyes, Heidi kept moving towards into the courtyard so as to find her annoying boss. And what she found was not a drunkard as usual but a very… keen-witted Dritan with his arms crossed his chest instead. Her eyes went wide as they looked at the table with a candle and the Chinese lanterns hung around the place. Well it was truly romantic in some movies but she did not show any appreciation in her eyes. There was just a blank look on her face when she walked towards her boss. Before saying anything, she quickly smacked his head. “This is the reason you freak me out so bad?” She asked flatly in an angry voice. “I was terrified, you know that?” Now she noticed how funny she was in the pajamas and a pair of slippers. Luckily she was wearing a long coat so it was not so easy to recognize that fact. Her hair was even messier after a long run. Thankfully the light of the candle and the lanterns was probably not enough for anyone to realize that she was blushing. Heidi was both embarrassed and angry for sure. “What are all these things?” She asked again with a cold voice.

A hit on the head would definitely be worth everything he did right now. She would show up and then fall madly in love with everything that he did for her, but she would have to hit him on the head just to maintain her position as the dominate one in their relationship. All afternoon he pondered his feelings towards Heidi, like he actual feelings. Not just the superficial ones that he showed and made him classify her as just his baby sitter that wanted to leave him. Honestly he gave thought to the actual idea of marriage and of Heidi being the other half in that marriage. It could be interesting, she was after all pretty to look at and she kept him on his toes. That is what he needed in a relationship, someone to keep him on his toes and alert at all times. That is what Heidi did, so maybe Dritan could settle down with her and enjoy his quiet life. Now if he got his throne back then chances were high that he would marry Bethany or do her the favor and leave her at the alter. The decision hadn't been made yet, but he would do it for her so she could keep her dignity. Albania would look awful but no one would invade since it was such a tiny little country. There would be no benefit to invading them BUT it was still his country and if his sister let him defend it then he would do so til death. Home was important to him and he hated being stuck in school in America because everyone spoke English. Albanian was such a pretty lanuage and it was perfered for him.
He knew that once Heidi got here then he was in for some yelling and he just mentally prepared himself for that. One of his friends asked him once why he put up with so much yelling and it was because he understood that a king should deal with unhappy people. There was also this thing he learned called spacing out and once in a while he would just mute Heidi and watch her. Her lovely blonde hair bouncing and slowly turning gray. Her pale cheeks turning a light pink and then slowly red as her anger continued to grow. A sight that Dritan had falled in love with many years ago when they were younger. Anyone who walked by during one of thier fights always saw Dritan smiling and just looking peaceful while Heidi yelled at him, of course there was a time or two when he was drunk which is why he looked peaceful.
But not a drop of alcohol had touched his lips since January and he was proud of himself for that. Not like he would go around and gloat about it but just a secret smile over his sucess. And tonight, although he was nervous, he did not give into temptation to drink up with some liquid courage. His eye caught of glimpse of her running towards the courtyard in her pajamas and coat with her hair just a mess. She certainity did come quickly when she was called, another plus on her resume. As he approached Dritan stood up nice and tall with a great big smile on his face. "My lady... so glad you could join me..." was what he managed to get in before she struck his head. Her voice was angry, as was to be expected so he let her yell and then when she finally asked him a question he was able to speak.
"Happy belated Valentines day!" He said and continued to smile. Then he moved behind her and motioned for her to sit down in the chair that he was holding out for her. A true gentleman tonight!"I have prepared us a nice dinner and do you like the decorations?" Courting someone could be fun and Dritan prefered the game over the prize. Bethany was the prize and he already won that so now he wanted something to win for himself.

Heidi Holloway was nothing more than a stone, tough and harsh stone which would always refuse having fun. And technically surprises were included in fun, she assumed. She was extremely terrified when she received the message from Dritan and did try to run to him as quickly as she could without even care about herself. How ridiculous when someone who cared so much about good manners went out at night in her pajamas her slippers and the only proper thing that she wore was her long coat. Her hair was like a mess because of the cold wind blowing by. Certainly, she did not expect to see a drunken Dritan lying on the floor with his breath smell so awful because of alcohol. But she also did not expect to see an awakened man in a romantic decorated place smiling at her as she found herself was fooled very excellently. Honestly, Heidi was horribly angry that she thought she could destroy his whole little wonder covered with lanterns and colorful hearts. She would much appreciate his kindness if he had another way to show her, a politer way actually. Yet he decided to choose the thing she hated the most: surprises. Heidi stood still, stared at him with her eyes as cold as an ice queen’s in children’s stories, who was normally a cruel lady. The need to yell at him grew so strongly inside of her but she tried to hold it back as much as she could. Then he began to talk but his words did not help chilling her out at all. “Stop calling me my lady!” She yelled at him loudly. He should be aware that Heidi could be super furious when she was annoyed. It was so strange that she was not even that mad when she found Drtian terribly drunken; but now he was trying to be nice and she was not pleased about that. Heidi quickly wiped away a tear fell down as she felt its heat on her cheek and turned her back to him so as not to let him see her face. His amazing imagination would make him misunderstand that she was cry in joy and gratefulness when seeing the truth about the dinner. She did not plan to yell at him again either. Dritan never showed his annoyance every time she yelled at him and there was just only a peaceful looking on his face instead of a frown or even a sign of anger. She wished she could do the same to him when he made her mad. Being a hot-tempered one was as nasty as being annoyed, she thought.
Heidi glared at the chair when he pulled it out for her. Hesitation was showed in her eyes as she changed her direction to herself. Only if she knew the dinner was prepared for her would she wear something nicer and more suitable for this small event. Just supposing that she enjoyed the romance, the romance would be certainly and completely ruined by the pajamas and the slippers she wore; and it already was after all. She went to the chair and sat down while her hands were trying to do something with the mess on her head which was hardly able to be called hair right now. She could go back to her room and change into something nice but it would make everything become more awkward. Now she had time to look everything once again. Honestly, they were absolutely beautiful if beautiful is the proper word to describe the spectacular scene in front of her which was like sparkling in the dark of the night. She wished she did not interrupt her very own feelings for this place since she was thinking about money. It was natural for her to worry about such thing sine certainly Albania was not the richest country all over the world. As if Dritan was the prince of America (as if there was American royal family), she would never let him waste money like this. Obviously he did not take any words of hers when they were in the library serious and he just simply did what he liked. She would smacked him again definitely if he dared to tell her reasonable reason that she deserved all the luxuries. No, maybe not only smacking, but probably punching as well. The warm light of the candle made her face turn pink as if she was blushing. Or maybe she really was. Who knew? Her hazel eyes landed on the one who was sitting opposite her again. “Valentine’s Day? Since when have you become so ridiculously romantic?” She said in quite a sarcastic voice. Heidi despised Valentine’s Day as much as she despised the lateness since she had seen quite lots of people did silly things and became so foolish on that day. Actually it was only a trick, or a marketing plan of chocolate and candy’s producer due to the fact that they could earn billions dollars thanked to a lot of fools around the world. She had sworn to herself that she would never be one of the poor victims of any stupid love game. But unfortunately, it seemed like Dritan fancied this thing quite much. “If you were that romantic, you should not have scared your date so bad that she did not have time to prepared herself. And I did tell you how terrible wasting money was, right? And finally you are still so stubborn and don’t listen to me. However, I think I would appreciate your try if you did not use such a stupid way to call me here.” She grumbled angrily thought she tried to make herself sound normal. "Furthermore, who will clean up this whole thing after the dinner is done? Your servant, Sir?" She raised a brow.

If Heidi was a stone then Dritan was her opposite in every manner that could be seen. He was loud, annoying, and sometimes thought about things in the wrong manner. He acted for himself and never went out of his way for another. She knew him and she should know that this sort of act was different and meant something to him. At the same time he was changing and he was growing as a person, loosing the throne really killed his spirit and forced him to step aside from who he was. One of the people that he bedded during his drunken New York City binge pointed that out to him. They were laying there sharing a cigarette and he commented that he thought Dritan needed to stop running and face himself, hiding in booze and parties would not change his blood or his history. Moving forward and becoming a better person would just make him a better person. He trusted Heidi to see this change in him and he wanted her to know that through his big grand dinner that was entirely for her. He paused a moment when she yelled and then he noticed a single tear roll down her cheek. What did I do now? Is she crying with joy or should I comfort her? he thought to himself. "Alright... may I just call you Heidi tonight then?" He asked, hopeing that she would like his compromise.
Then she took a seat and Dritan moved and took a seat across the table from her. It was a small table so he was not too far away from her. If he had told her about the dinner then she never would have shown up, she would have made some excuse about homework and Dritan needed her. She would always be needed for him. Is it weird that he only started to consider her as a potiential mate recently? Her employment had been since they were both 11 and only now he realized how lucky he was to have her. There must have been countless nights she sat by his bed while he was drunk and sleeping it off so she could make sure he didn't choke on his own vomit. That was totally love. "I've never had a reason to be romantic before but you seem to bring out that quality in me." He replied and let the smile form on his lips that he had been holding back when he saw her cry. Then he remained quiet as she went on one of her lectures. It was best to let her talk without interruption because either way she would keep talking until she finished with what she was trying to say. Once it was over he smiled at her. "I'm sorry about that. I knew you would never accept a dinner offer from me. Admit it... you would have found homework to do if I had asked you to dinner." He commented and played with the fork that was sitting next to the covered up plate. "I bought trash bags to clean it up. You can have the night off. If you want after I clean this up I will even go back to the dorms and draw you up a nice bubble bath" He offered and then set the fork back down where it had been.
Dritan continued to smile and then looked down at the table in front of him. "So for dinner tonight! I thought I would spare you the horrors of my cooking, since the last thing I want is for my date to get food poisoning. So I had the cafe people prepare something for us." He explained and then removed the cover from the plate in front of her. "Traditional Albanian Food!" His tone reflected the excitment he was feeling. It had been forever since he had food like the stuff they would have back home. It would be a treat for him and he hoped that she liked his idea. "And if you aren't feeling that they prepared some pasta and sauce." He added quietly before he focused back on her.

Heidi was still angry but she finally figured out a way to cool herself down. There was only a blank look on her face when he said that he would just call her ‘Heidi’ for today. Technically, a surprised dinner was absolutely harmless and probably very… meaningful but since it was a surprise, Heidi detested it as much as she detested alcohol. However, listening to his word made her spend a few minutes considering whether to thank him or not because he was just trying to be nice after all. At last she came up with a decision which was ‘no’. But still she would join his dinner because it would be a huge waste if she left and let him throw away all the food. She had known him so well since he was a kid so it was duck soup to understand how proud he was, and how wasteful he was. A smirk landed on her lips gracefully but coldly when he said about his quality of romance due to the fact that the girl was still extremely mad at her prince. She glared at the table then quickly commented without thinking too much to choose the best words to describe her thought at the moment. “I know that is what you talk to every girl in this school. I bet you usually surprise them with a dinner and say the similar things that you said to me.” She said in quite a sarcastic voice. Then the subject was soon switched and they began talking about who would clean the whole mess after the dinner. Her laughter slipped out of her lips as soon as Dritan finished his words. She had to refrain so hard not to make it become so loud and disrespectful. It was easy to understand why she was so… shocked: the prince of Albania would clean up after their dinner. Didn’t it sound funny? She would let someone slap her face right now to make sure that she was not dreaming. It was even more surprising than his action when they were in the library. She wanted to ask him whether his head was injured or not but she found it too stupid to ask. Heidi grabbed a glass of water on the table and quickly took a sip to swallow the need to laugh more. She cleared her throat and then stopped. “You can leave the bubble bath out of it. Who knows if you will put something in the water? I know how kind you are already, sir.” She looked at him with a playful smile.
There was no space for the silence to remain. Dritan soon continued saying after his explanations for his cruel call. She looked at the table which was filled with plates of food – just like what he said: traditional Albanian food. A pleasant smile crossed her face though she did not mean to do it. She had just figured out something strange lately: her boss had become much more thoughtful. Heidi kept the smile on her lips when he talked about his cooking. “This is the first thing you got right today, sweetie.” She teased him. Dritan knew how to cook was the worst statement of all time. If he had not been a prince, she would not have been able to imagine what his job would be. Frying an egg sometimes even seemed too hard for him to do. She guessed that was why every noble needed a servant – it was to do those hard things for them. She looked at him as he started talking about his carefulness when preparing pasta and sauce as well. A sigh was released and a comment came afterwards. “I’m not that picky! I know I am harsh sometimes but never picky so don’t waste the money. You really think both of us can eat up all the dishes on the table?” Her face became so glumly when she thought about how much money he spent on preparing the dinner. Heidi was pretty stingy but it was for his all good since he would be belly up if he kept using money irresponsibly like this.
“Are you sure that there is no evil scheme in this dinner? No dancing or doing ridiculous things, right?” She asked him in a suspicious voice. As soon as the girl looked up at her boss, she noticed that Dritan was wearing very formal clothes, not something hurtful to her eyes as usual. That fact made her think that he must have given huge effort while trying to surprise her. It would be so wrong when she tried to resist his kindness times to times. She wished she could have been a little bit tender when she saw all the preparations he did for her. But what must be must be. If he figured out a way to invite her without scaring her so terribly, she would be more grateful for sure.

Could he do anything right? It seemed like everything he said or did Heidi had a negative opinion about and that was a little unnerving. In fact if he was still going to be king she could probably convince him to give up the throne just with a few bad comments. But Dritan wanted to be King and if he could get his crown back then he would do anything for that. In fact he would have murdered his sister for his crown back... Just kidding! He would never murder his baby sister just for the crown. Dritan did want the lecture that Heidi would give him afterwards since he knew that would be one long and boring tongue lashing. Plus he didn't like to see his parents cry since then they would give him that disappointed stare that they were so good at giving him.
"Actually you are the first and only person that I have ever gone out of the way to do something special for. Heidi you are very special to me." He said and smiled. It was true. She was the first person that Dritan had gone out of his way to impress and do something nice for. He was not the romantic type to do these over the top things just to sleep with people. If he wanted to sleep with them then he just spoke the right words, dinner and the decorations were for someone special that he wanted more of a relationship with. Anyone could get a cheap fling but it really took work to get someone to fall in love with you. Then she commented about him putting something into the bath water and he laughed at her. "We both know that I am not smart enough to do something like that. I would just end up adding more soap and we all know that more soap could be super deadly!" He replied to her. It wasn't that Dritan was the dumbest person out there but he was not the brightest light bulb in the pack. At the same time he was politically smart and he knew how to get things done for his country but that was only because he had studied the art under his father for years.
The whole idea of having traditional albanian food came to him when he was sitting and thinking about home. He loved the food that the chefs at the palace prepared and his missed the comforts of his home country. In fact he would have started to speak thier native lanuage if he felt the urge but thier conversation in english was doing him just fine. "See eventually I get things right." He said and smiled since he was pretty proud of himself. At least out of this whole evening he would have managed something right that Heidi was evening excepting of. "I am starving... so yes I think we can eat all of this food. Besides you always complain that I am not eating enough." He said. Right now he was waiting for her to start eating so he could dig in while still using his manners. Manners dictated that he would wait for his date to start eating before he began and the growling of his stomach gave away his desire for the food. It looked so good but not as pretty as Heidi he thought to himself. Oddly enough he prefered her looking like she did now... normal.
"No evil scheme." He replied and then just smiled at her. Then she mentioned dancing and he kind of looked down with a shameful expression. "Well there won't be dancing anymore." He said softly. Of course he did have other tricks up his sleeves and he thought about the gift he had gotten her. "Heidi... there are so many tricks up my sleeves. None of them are evil and all of them will benefit you. You jsut need to be open to them." He explained and jsut smiled as he looked across the table at her. "Please eat before the food gets cold."

To be honest, Dritan’s words had made her quite… moved. Regardless he was telling the truth or not, he was finally a quarter successful in courting her, though she would never admit it. No one ever told her that she was special, in any cases. She had never been called special when she was in her ridiculous pajamas and her rustic coat, not mentioning her silly slippers. But he did not seem to care much about her appearance, even when her hair was like a mess. She wished the light of the candle could be a bit brighter so that she could look straight into his eyes when he said that she was special. However, he really did make the cold weather in the middle of spring become much warmer, which was truly amazing to her. These whole babyish romantic things that he had prepared were really not his style of flirting with girls. Being his servant for years gave her certain knowledge of his behaviors when he wanted a girl. There would not be colorful hearts for decorating or a candle on the dinning table like this. Heidi laughed slightly when he mentioned about the bubble bath and adding more soap in it. Dritan was smart, in anyway humans understood the word smart. But not everyone could see his intelligence clearly since he had quite a special way of showing it. Although she never said it out loud but she had to admit that her boss had the most brilliant ideas for almost everything. “Okay, you needn’t do such thing as preparing a bubble bath. Just be a good and conscious Dritan tonight. I will be extremely grateful if you can do that.” She smiled tenderly, which she did not do so regularly. Maybe it was time for her to show some appreciation.
Then the subject was switched. Complaining… well she did that quite a lot during this month, especially when it came to his random eating habit. She hated when thinking about sitting beside his bed all night long when he was sick and there was no way she wished that scene could repeat again. She had had enough after years of serving him and she did not want to worry about that little thing when she left him in the near future. It looked as if Dritan was allergic to healthy diets because he never ate a proper meal properly. The only thing that he always had enough or maybe more than requirement for one day was wine and alcohol. It was a good thing that he seemed to be afraid of those things as soon as the new semester had started not so long ago. There was no longer evenings with the smell of alcohol filled his room and his breath. Heidi did believe that God had decided to treat her nice at least for a short period of time. And now the poor Dritan seemed extremely starving that she thought he could die immediately if she did not allow him to start eating. At first she wondered what he was waiting for but she soon realized that he was waiting for her to start it first since it would be rude for a gentleman to touch the spoon before the lady. Well he really did learn how to behave very quickly, at least beyond her expectation. Some giggles were released as she found it so funny how he tried to restrain his hunger to act nicely. She planned to mention another subject to talk about but it would be so cruel to do that and she did not want to take the advantage that she was the lady to torture him either, though it sounded so fun. Heidi picked her folk and her spoon up with a cheesy smile on her face. “I know you are hungry to death. Eat quickly before I eat up all the food and leave you nothing.” She urged in a serious voice but with a smirk. It was a joy for her watching him eating since he always looked very happy when he enjoyed food. The graduation was coming soon and Heidi did not know how much time left she had so as to see him doing ridiculous things or even his regular habits. They would be separated soon and also she would be stuck in the busy life of a normal living condition when joining the real world. There would be no prince charming and royal luxuries in that world. She once dreamed about a fairy tale happy ending with a prince charming but she was seventeen now – too old to dream. However, she would let Dritan be her prince charming for at least tonight and enjoy the fairy tale dinner with him. Her high school life was almost over and maybe it was the happy ending that she was waiting for. “No dancing? It’s too bad because I’ve just learned how to dance lately and I would like to practice. The music can always be imagined, don’t you think?” Heidi laughed as she said. “I know none of your evil schemes was evil. They were simply annoying but I’m used to them. I just wanted to be ready if you came up with something crazy again.”

He was kind of a flirt when it came to life since he loved having different companions warm his bed at night. Never in a million years did he actually think he would want his own servant to warm his bed and wake up with him in the morning. She brought out his tender and loving side in a way. Of course it could have just been the fact that he thought she was special and he always wanted her in his life, now he just needed to convince her that he was worth having in her life. There would be many ways to do this and he hoped that one of them would appeal to her nature so she would stay. At least until he had finished college and had a life plan since he would never want to stop her from enjoying her life and eventually finding someone that loved her. Of course in his mind no one would ever love her the way that he could and the rest of the people were just inferior to him.
So he was not allergic to healthy diets but he was after all a teenaged boy who was barely 18 yet. All he wanted to do was eat junk food and run around like a mad man at ever event that he was allowed it. His life style was that of a normal 18 year old who happened to have a lot of money to blow on booze if he wanted. Actually he was not just some average teenage boy and it took alot for him to accept that since he was in this limbo period of being royal and the first born but not the heir to the throne. It was an odd place for Dritan to be and he didn't much like it. Then he noticed that she actually giggled and his smile grew as he became pleased with himself. At least he made her laugh at some point tonight. Then it was his chance to laugh at her little joke. "Alright." He replied and began to load up his plate with all of the food he could image eating. It was really delicious and it reminded him of home so much. It would be nice to be back in Albania for the summer and then who knew where he would be in the fall.
He glanced back at her when she mentioned dancing and how she had been practicing. "Who taught you how to dance?" He asked out of curiosity. Dritan was a decent dancer since that was one of the activities he had been taught as part of his princely duties. It was very formal and rather boring but he could do it as well as the next prince if she wanted to actually do some dancing. "Well thank god I have my Ipod and I can probably find some romantic music. Looks like dancing will be apart of dinner afterall." He commented and smiled at Heidi. The dancing could be saved for after dinner thought, right now he had some things to get through first.
Dritan ate a few more bites of food before he focused back on Heidi. Some noble lady of Albania once told Dritan that she thought he was a very well mannered and level headed young king. All Dritan thought was This lady must have a ton of cats at home. Why are we giving titles to women who have lots of cats. But then again he did ahve his own manner of thinking and of logic he was about to remind Heidi about. "Hey... do me a favor and shut your eyes while holding out your arm." He said. It was an unorthadox way to give a present but it made perfect sense to him. The gift was a surprise and it belonged on her arm. He had gotten her one of those charm bracelets that had recently gone out of style but he liked the idea of customizing a gift and once she saw it then she would know right away that Dritan picked it out. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the box as he waited for her to do as he said.

The food was nice and it, somehow, reminded her of Albania where up in a high hill in the countryside lied her loving parents who had died so long ago. She did not have so many chances to taste the food that her mother made but there was a certain memory about it she still kept in her mind. But to be honest, at the age of five, she was too young to memorize so much that she could set a tear when thinking of her. All she felt at the time was faded pictures of a young man and a woman which crossed her mind swiftly so as not to give her a chance to see them clearly. But what must be must; it was no use to be regretful thinking of the past which never could go back. Heidi took another bite and swallowed it quickly. For one second, she thought that she saw some curiosity showed up on Dritan’s face as he asked about her dancing business. Actually when she was younger, before the time they had left Albania for school, she was taught how to dance by her aunt who was quite a good dancer in the whole country. It was a lot of fun dancing around with a fat but jolly woman. There used to be laughter filled up the small kitchen of the palace. But she was not so sure she could do the same thing again; however, she would still try to have some fun today since it was not everyday Dritan could be that nice to her, she should utilize his kindness. “Well I concern that it is none of your business. If I say that a handsome guy taught me to dance, what will you do? So you just need to know that I can do it.” She laughed after the teasing. Dritan must have been smart enough to understand that guys were never to her taste, especially when most of them were too babyish for her. But nobody would be killed because of her little joke. She raised a brow as he mentioned his iPod. “It seems like you have prepared for this situation too.” She smirked blankly. She tenderly stabbed a slice of tomato with her folk and put it in her mouth. Spicy? She suddenly thought as a strange taste hit her tongue. Her eyes began to water when she felt her tongue was slowly burning. As soon as she swallowed the tomato, she quickly drank all the water in the glass. “Oh my God! There are chilies in the vegetables!” She claimed quite irritatingly in a louder voice than she planned to use. “I knew that there was something evil.” She continued after drinking all the second glass of water. An angry look was straightly for him without trying to hide it. The second thing that Heidi hated the most after lateness was spicy food. It took her a while to make her eyes stop watering and her tongue stop burning and also to calm down. She did not know whether this was a part of his plan or not but he certainly would get her revenge in the very next morning.
The silence remained for a while and Heidi noticed that her boss was concentrated on thinking of something. Soon after that, he began to talk again. A request had been made and it surely gave her another suspicion. Why did she need to hold out her arm and shut her eyes? What was going on in his head? Her head was filled up with a bunch of questions without a satisfying answer and most of them were to accuse Dritan since she believed that he was planning something evil. Furthermore, she had never heard of people shutting eyes and holding out hands while having dinner. Heidi was not somebody who trusted so easily and she could swear that she smell a rat immediately when he finished his words. “What are you up to, Dritan?” She asked in an obviously suspicious voice. A few hypothetical situations were created but none of them were what she wanted to happen. It could be painfully stupid if she did what he said but she honestly was curious about his mysterious acting. Moreover, he seemed quite harmless today in some respects. Heidi was definitely not a risky one but she knew that there was no way he could tell her his plan before he did it. Her eyes looked down at her arm and then at him. The hazel color in her eyes reflected her worried more obviously than ever. Nevertheless, she still held out her left arm and slowly closed her eyes. “I warned you. If you do something tricky, you will have enough in the next morning.” She hissed quietly.

Despite his anger towards his parents about removing him from the throne he still loved his country. He loved the food, the lanuage, the people, and the culture but right now he hated the current king. His father had been particularly cruel when it came to this decision and Dritan was offened that they just assumed he would get caught again. Learning his lesson was all apart of their plan and Dritan knew just to never get caught again but in reality it had grown and he was mature now. Maybe their evil plan was working to make Dritan a better person just not a better king. He thought to himself that the fact that he was taking an interest in Heidi showed that he was a better person since his flings had all but disappeared. He had not been in bed with someone since January and that servant girl was pretty to look at. She had pleased him but he had wanted more that he was unable to get. "Well if some pretty guy taught you how to dance I say that is a lie. I am the prettiest guy out there and I certainly did not teach you how to dance." Overly confident in himself was another lovely trait that Dritan had. Confident and he thought highly of himself.
"Heidi I am like an american boy scout... I am prepared for all things." He said with another bright and proud smile on his face. He was not really prepared for everything but he could pretend. After all he could basically talk his way into and out of everything. It wast who he was and what he learned to do. If he could have shoveled the food into his mouth then he would have but that would have been rude. Dritan was trying to be well mannered but his stomach was begging him for additional food. Then he looked up at Heidi when she commented about the spicy food. "That was not my doing. I shall fire the man that made the food too spicy for you." He offered her in an over dramatic way. He had no power to fire anyone who worked on the campus.
The whole gift thing... Dritan had gone to the local mall and found the jewerly store. He must have spent so much time in there just glancing around at everything. Originally he was going to get her a diamond ring just as a symbol of his love and commitment to her but he knew that a gift like that was bound to get him slapped. She would then whine about how she was not worth a diamond ring she would would never marry him. He imaged the lecture in his head using the funny voice he used when talking like Heidi. Which is why he decided on his charm bracelet. Once her eyes were closed and her arm was out he opened the box and picked up the bracelet. Carefully he slipped it onto her wrist and smiled. "Open your eyes." He said.
None of the charms matched and it looked like a small child had been let loose on a charm bracelet store, yet Dritan was proud of himself for it. Each charm meant something to him and to their relationship. He had knelt down next to her since he wanted to explain the bracelet and some of the charms to her. "Do you like it? He asked since he was concerned about her liking it. "I wanted you to always remember me once you went off to college and left me. And all of these charms will remind you of me. So I hope that you wear it often while you are yelling at your class mates and winning your court cases."

The fact that Dritan was obviously overly confident made her raise a brow. “You know… the food is really good and I don’t want to vomit because of your sayings.” Heidi commented as she stared at the dishes laid on the table with quite sarcastic eyes. Honestly, she would actually throw up if Dritan gave another over-confident comment about himself. It was true that he was a good guy… in some respects; but he was definitely not the prettiest guy she had ever seen, at least it was her opinion. Despite that fact, she would simply let him enjoy the flattery for a while or maybe for tonight only since he did a great job preparing all these silly romantic things for her; it would be so rude if she took that advantage and insulted him. Watching him talking about himself, she had just realized that she would have to tell his new servant in the future about the problem of his confidence. “Okay, I know you’re the best. Who can ever be able to beat you?! You needn’t advertise your greatness like that. After several years being your servant, don’t you think that I am smart enough to know how good you are?” She quickly interrupted him before he could have a chance to say something more about his perfection. Heidi rested her chin on the palm of her hand and she looked at him with a blank look on her face since the conversation had just given her the idea that his pride was proportional to his height as the more he grew, the more confident he became.
The boredom soon passed as Heidi felt a small explosion happening in her mouth. Spicy taste of the vegetable made her want to tear her tongue apart as soon as she realized she had just bitten a small piece of chili. Before she could think of some hypothetical situations, her mind had already accused Dritan for poisoning her with chili. An aggressive frown showed up in the face which had been once extremely tender the past few minutes. The servant now looked exactly like a monkey with her brows knitted together and her lips curved down and became an annoyed pout. She grabbed the glass on the table and drank all water inside of it so as to chill out before her mouth exploded for real. Dritan right after that received an angry glare from her. Following it was his explanation for the unwanted accident happened in the supposed-to-be-romantic dinner. “Do that when you are the principal.” Her voice became quite loud and ironic when she commented on his statement about firing who made the spicy food for her. It was awkward how she had just thought of him as her childhood prince charming a few seconds ago and now she just wanted to scold him like scolding a child. Maybe she assumed things too soon…
At the moment Heidi closed her eyes exactly like what he had ordered her to do she felt a cringe feeling running down her spine. Something was slipped onto her wrist and she could feel its heaviness quite clearly. Now what he was trying to do again? A few crazy ideas popped up in her head and one of them was that Dritan was trying to get him and her handcuffed with a manacle. It was a silly idea but it was possible though because Dritan was the one who always had plenty of weird ideas after all. Heidi slowly opened one eye when she heard his voice then she decided to widen her sight by opening her both eyes. It was a shocking scene when the servant recognized the Albanian prince was on his knee in front of her. There was a bracelet on her wrist. The wind gently blew by which made the small charms swing slightly and caused some funny sounds. It was like someone had frozen her tongue and she could not say a word when he asked her if she liked it. She loved it… She loved how he wanted her to remember him in every moment of her life in the future. She loved how his voice sounded so softly when he said that those charms would remind her of him. Everything was sparkling in front of her eyes. No one had ever told her such sweet things like that. Heidi suddenly bent down next to him and wrapped her arms around him. “Thank you…” That was the only thing she could say. Her feelings at the time were like a jumble and they could not be put into words to describe. She wished there could be a way for her to show him how grateful, how happy she was. The first time in her life she had felt his warmth so close to her. Slowly, Heidi moved her hands on his cheeks with a cheesy smile on her face. Very softly, she leaned closer to him, still kept the playful smile on her face. “I like your gift very much. But you should not waste your money again next time. Alright?” She bit her bottom lips as her hands pinched his cheeks – her favorite thing to do of all time. “I cannot believe you are that old school… But thank you! I will keep this bracelet carefully like a treasure.” A kiss, a very gently one was placed on his cheek right after she finished her words. It was just like the kindergarten time… and she liked it.

His marriage kept popping into his mind and yet it appeared that Bethany was ignoring him to focus on other things like the Queens or her boyfriend. She didn't seem like she wanted out of it or it seemed more like she wanted Dritan to be the bad guy. It was a role that he was more than willing to play for thier happiness and maybe now that he was no longer King his father would see reason and end the arrangment. Or maybe his sister would end the arrangment for him. Luckily no date had been set so he was not working under a time line of any kind but the sooner the better was always a good idea. The other question that bothered him was why Heidi was so resistant to his charms. Obviously lame pick up lines were not going to work but still he pulled out all of the stops for this evening.
Although his actions were finally rewarded when he watched as her face just light up when she finally saw the gift he got her. It was so she would remember him always and remember the good times that they shared. Although he did stick a charm in there of New York City since that was his one secret from her and he did stick in a beer charm so she would always remember that she thought he was a drunkard. Then there were happy charms like The Effle Tower and some bright colored beads in thier flag colors. Her responce was typical and he just got a little chuckle out of it. "Why can't I buy you nice things once in a while?" He asked and then he winced when he felt the pinch on his cheeks. "You should stop hurting your boss." He said but then stopped right as she kissed him.
It was his reward for a job well done. The gift was perfect and the evening was perfect. If only it had lasted longer and she had slipped in some tongue he thought to himself. "Good. I hope that you always treasure it." He said and gave her just another proud smile. "Now... I have another gift slash favor type thing..." He said before moving back to his seat at the table. His fact showed a bit more serious of a tone this time. "Let me come with you to college.... I promise not be a bother and the Albanian government will pay for all of it. You won't owe anyone money and I will go wherever you want to go to school."
And he probably ruined the evening but he was desperate at this point. He wanted to go to college with her since she was his like best friend ever! Of course she was stubborn and would refuse him again. But still he would beg her until the day she left her job with him. Quickly he gave her a smile and hoped that maybe she would take the news better. "But I do understand if you want to go without me. I just want to make sure that you are taken care of Heidi." His voice sounded a bit more desperate now.

Heidi found herself a bit crazy and risky as she kissed him on his cheek. Seriously, it was no big deal but she normally would not do that and the friendliest gesture she did to him was yelling at him or pinched his cheeks. It was merely a very stern attitude whenever she was around him… until that moment. If the King and the Queen had seen that, they would have executed her right away without giving her the time to explain or even realize their presence. After all, Dritan was technically about to be married and it was maybe a kind of engagement, unwanted one, but still the valid one. Suddenly the servant felt like she was doing something very bad… such as betraying her country and her royals. It was not big deal, just a kiss on the cheek – no harm. But there was a huge guilt laid on her heart. She was possibly crazy because really, Dritan had slept with so many girls that he did not even remember their names and all of them were alive, at least according to what she assumed. Ugh, she had been losing her mind apparently. However, the kiss certainly seemed to affect the Albanian prince a little: he stopped while he was complaining about her hurting him all the time. She took a deep breath and got back to her seat as she calmed down with the thought that she was overly thinking of everything. When he mentioned the gift slash favor type thing, she immediately smelt a rat in his sayings. Something was definitely going to go wrong, at least to her. Basically, she was having dinner with a troublemaker and he was painfully good at thinking of crazy ideas or offers. Just looking at how he invited her to this romantic dinner would shock everyone on Earth literally. Nevertheless, Heidi still sat in silence and waited for Dritan to reveal what he wanted to say and what the hell he was planning to do. Her fingers began to strum down on the wooden table slowly and gently so as not to cause annoying sounds. And they stopped immediately by the time he spoke out loud his idea which was pretty shocking but still very familiar. Why did he have to be that stubborn and keep asking her what was impossible for her to accept?
He knew that everything she did was for his all good and for his own future. Albania was a very small country and Heidi believed that its quality of education system was proportional to the area of Albania. If Dritan wanted to be King, he needed to study more than the knowledge that he could get from Albanian schools. And it was really stupid for him to offer such thing as coming with her to college. She looked down on the table to give herself a few seconds to figure out what to say. He wanted to take care of her – she knew how kind he was. But she did not want the kindness of his accidentally turned out the foolishness. No she did not tell him that her plan was to go back to Albania but he must have known that when she mentioned going back to Europe. Plus, she would like to afford for herself and live her life – no government involved and it was pretty insulting when saying that the government would pay for it all. How could he say that she would not owe anyone? She had owed them since she was in kindergarten and she could not let it get worse. She was old enough to take care of herself – she was seventeen, not seven and that means she could not lean on anybody else but herself. If only Dritan could understand that, things would have been much easier to say. A slight shake of her head came afterwards when she finally found the answer. “No, I’m sorry but I cannot let you come with me.” She swallowed the hesitation and continued calmly. “And I don’t want the government to involve in my life. You are different from me… You are their prince so it is their job to pay for your study. I’m a citizen of Albania and it is my job not to waste the national treasury. Dritan… You are smart enough to understand that you will have better chances when you study in America. Why are you so stubborn?” How sweet of him to say that he wanted to make sure that she was taken care. Looking into his eyes, Heidi could tell that he meant every word he said. But she just simply could not let him risk his future because of her. “You said as if I would die without your care. Look, I appreciate your concerns but you have to accept the truth that I am no longer a child. And admit it – it will be me who take care of you instead of being taken care.” She smiled bitterly as she tried to make the situation less tensed. If she had a choice, she would choose to study in the best Universities in the world. But it appeared obviously that she had no choice, no choice that she allowed herself to have. But she knew that she would not be regretful since for the first time in her life, she would know how to be a grown up, how to deal with the crazy rhythm of life. So she would beg him if it was necessary so as to make him change his mind. “I will remember you when I leave and it does not mean that I’m going to leave you forever. It will be okay.”

Dritan was unsure of how his parents would react if they saw this little display. They were strict with him and his sister so he could not image that it would go over well but he could not image Heidi being fired over it. Then again Dritan was in no one's good graces at the moment and he hated that. The one loved prince was just a drunk teenager to his people although no one seemed to be making a big deal about their future king and his slip up. They did not know yet about thier new Queen and he wasn't sure how that would go over. The evil in him hoped that it would be awful and his sister would not be accepted but the country did love Ari as well. A guy could hope and dream all he wanted. Right now he was just day dreaming about that magical moment when her lips touched his cheek in a soft but loving manner. He wanted more from her, he wanted her to love him as a boyfriend. Deep down he knew that she was the perfect girl for him but she would need to see it and it was his job to make it known to her.
In his opinion her debt to her country had been paid time and time again since she took care of Dritan. She kept him out of the public eye when he was in trouble and she covered for him so often. It was like Dritan owed her so much more and he wanted to give her everything that he could grab at like the stars and the moon. Why was she being so stubborn and not accepting his offer? Its a good offer at least that is what he thought. Then again he didn't have her independence and her drive. Pretty much at this point all he cared about was not loosing another important person in his life. "Come on Heidi." He sounded like a whiney child who was just deperate at this point to get her to see his way. But she kept speaking and she explained to him patiently all of the reasons why she needed to leave. "But I don't want to study in America. We all know that I don't have the grades to stay at one of the ivy league universities." The reason he was going to college was because it was basically required but schooling had been rough for him. Heidi got him through it but it was only by the skin of his teeth. "Thats funny... you are more stubborn than I am. Together I'm surprised we get anything done." He commented and tried to lighten up the mood.
Truth was that he was scared that everyone was leaving him. Now that he was not king he was not important to anyone. Bethany pulled away from him and would run when she found out about his situation. Ari was scared of him and only speaking to him because they were trying to get to know each other. Now Heidi was leaving him to be in student debt for the rest of her life. "Promise that you won't ever sue me." He commented and looked up at her with pleading eyes. "I know that you probably have a great sexual harrassment and general harassment lawsuit after all of these years but please don't sue me. I would be very upset with you for making me sit in a court room for that long." For now he would accept this life plan of hers and he would enjoy the remaining months before she left.
