I just want to rock all night long,And put you in the middle of my spotlight
He would have never expected the day with the girl to carry out in the way that it had, after all he had not even known that she was in the estate that morning and would have assumed that she would be off somewhere with Aubrey. But he lucked out it seemed and the girl was present for the day and for the two of them to goof around in the water and even after the Queen made her appearance it did not seem to get too awkward. At first he had been able to tell that she was nervous and only accepted the lunch request because it was the right thing to do in her mind but by the end of the meal he was feeling a little better and his mother made it perfectly clear that she liked the influence of the girl over Ric. Making her promise to join them for dinner that night before allowing her to go about whatever she was going to do for the rest of the afternoon. He was sent to the city on some errands of his mother’s since she seemed to all of a sudden be busy when they had finished lunch and he could not help but feel like she was up to something. When he walked down the hallway he knocked lightly on his brothers bedroom door to receive his dog back with a small smile and the Blue Heeler tagged close to his heels. Aubrey had been called upon his mother request to ensure that the girl would have the evening off and she would be able to come with them and since it was a request from the Queen it did not seem to be a problem. He walked out towards the garage and where his car was sitting from the last time that he had been here and he was pleased to see that his father had kept up with the car’s maintenance since the engine of the Boss Mustang did not even skip a beat before roaring to life. The teal car was sparkling and polished, he was not like the many other guys with cars like that though since he always had allowed the dog into the back seat with the seat covers that he had installed for the specific reason. The day was mild and he enjoyed being out and about with the car and animal until finally he was finished all the list and on his way back to the estate without too much of a bump in the road of the plans. He did not have as much time as he wished to get ready but he did manage to take a shower and as requested in public appearances he wore a black polo shirt with the Mexican Royal Crest emblazoned on the left side. It was not going to be a formal dinner since it was still much too warm to dress up in long pants and his family tended to like to stay casual for the most part unless they were spending time with people that were not a part of the family. Running a hand through his hair it was styled to where it was neat and he was ready to step out the dog following close at his heels as well. Rigo had always been allowed on the boat where they were having dinner. He noticed that his brother had already left which was a little strange to him but he did not question it as he met with the girl in the same hallway as they had for lunch and he offered her a small smile. How was your afternoon? He asked gently. His parents had told him that they were going to meet them down there since there was something that his father needed to do before dinner so they were going to be headed to the dock in his car. Walking with her the dog stayed close to his heel like he had been taught and jumped into the back seat of the car before Ric held the door open for the girl with a small smile, the teal colored sports car was quite impressive and very dear to him since one thing that a lot of people did not know was that he had replaced every bolt on the car with his own two hands, so it was a little different than the Royals that were just handed cars like they were nothing. This car four years ago was rotting beneath a tree and had not been started in ten years, my father works on cars and helped me. He said with a small smile. The car started reliably as always and he turned out in the direction of the main street that ran through the town. The road ran along the beach and given that the sun was going to be setting within a matter of about an hour it was going to be quite the sight from the boat. When they arrived they were ushered onto the sail boat where his parents were waiting. His father immediately stood with the Queen to walk in their direction holding a hand out to her. Elise right? It is a pleasure to meet you. He said with a charming smile, he looked a lot like his eldest son with just a sprinkle of grey mixed with dark hair. They moved in the direction of the table to take a seat along the side overlooking the edge of the boat and the scenery that was now rolling by as the ship was navigated. As the food was placed on the table his mother seemed to be shifting things around her plate looking a little nervous before she spoke. How much do you know of what just happened in Mexico? She asked Ellie with a sober look crossing her face. As I am sure it has reached the edge of the entire world, I am sure you know that Ric’s father was forced to step down from the throne, leaving it in the hands of the Royal Advisors until which time that Ric can be crowned. He would have to be eighteen, and married. She started speaking and surely Ellie would not have a clue why the Queen was saying all this but Ric had now clued in and almost choked on the sip of his drink that he just took but managed to hide it, it did not seem to be fair the way that they were just going to spring it on her. Which means that finding a bride for my eldest son has become my biggest concern, one that can be trusted, and after contacting your parents as well as the Queen of Belgium it is deemed that you would be a perfect match. Your parents have agreed, so now it is just up to you to give an answer, I don’t want to pressure you into an immediate reply but I would be honoured if you would marry my son. By now Ric was frozen to the spot but at the same time he could only be glad that it was not being announced to someone that he despised, perhaps the only thing that was causing him to remain calm and collected was the fact that he had known this was coming and what to expect and had time to come to terms with it.

It had been an uneventful afternoon after lunch; Ellie had gone to check on Aubrey and because the princess could use some company, she'd spent the majority of her time with her. She didn't like the fact that she'd left the girl all alone for most of the morning, something she berated herself for and banished any thought of Ric. He was charming and kind, but that didn't mean anything when she had someone to look after. Her first concern, even here, was Aubrey. Or maybe especially here, one never knew. In any case, Ellie didn't so much as budge from Aubrey's side until it was confirmed - as her suspicions went - that she would be dining with the royal family tonight. She swallowed thickly at the thought of that. She didn't like the attention they were paying her - after all, Aubrey was here! She needed the attention, not Elise!
Still, as before with lunch, you didn't just refuse a member of the royal family - when it came to the whole lot, you refused even less. Verily, you could not. So she dug through her trunk and found a dress that was presentable, although she thought she could have gone in pants. But still. She was a young woman dining with the King and Queen of a foreign country ... no, a dress would do. Quickly taking a shower and slipping into the dress, Ellie pushed her feet into the shoes and looked into the mirror, grabbing one of her rings just so she'd have soemthing to fiddle with. Her hair was pulled up and away from her face and just a little bit of perfume was applied, she loved Calvin Klein but she was starting to run low so she'd need to replenish her stock once she got back home. It might take a while though, so she kept it as sweet and short as possible. Her make up otherwise was completely natural, just some mascara and lipgloss. Nothing more.
Her heels clacked against the floor and she swallowed when she heard Ric's voice, the nerves returning, but she braved a smile anyway. "Uneventful. I spent my time with the princess. I wouldn't have gone to dinner if your mother hadn't specifically requested my presence ... I'm worried about leaving Aubrey all alone." The worry showed on her face briefly before she shook her head and followed Ric to his car. Somehow, she didn't think she would have chosen a blue dress if she knew what kind of colour the car was. She looked like a trophey next to it! "Well I can't say it's been standing still for ten years!" she said with a smile as she sat in and let him drive her off to where the dinner would take place. Since it had been said it would be a boat, Ellie had gone with a blue and white theme for her dress, just to be polite.
Once there, the first to greet them was the King. Ellie smiled shyly and took the offered hand, curstying slightly, "It's an honour, Your Majesty." No matter that she'd read he had to step down - he was still the King to her. Taking her seat and saying thank you for the drink, Ellie turned her attention to the Queen who started speaking. She nodded, briefly allowing her eyes rest on the King with an understanding smile before she looked at the Queen again. The fact that the lady was telling her this sounded some alarms in her head, though when the Queen started speaking about Ric taking the throne and marrying, Ellie didn't know why her heart started slamming against the ribcage faster. She swallowed past her dry throat, even the drink didn't help much. When her parents were mentioned, she had enough sense to put the glass down.Luckily, otherwise there would have been a lot of shards around. She could sense the beginnings of a panic attack with the way her lungs seemed to pull into themselves. "I - please, excuse me," she managed, right before standing and making a beeline away from the table, out of immediate sight, grasping something for support as she tried getting more air into her with quick gasps.

I just want to rock all night long,And put you in the middle of my spotlight
He was almost positive that Aubrey could not ask for someone better than Ellie to watch over her since it was always very apparent that Ellie was thinking about her and wondering what could be done to make the princess’s life easier and he appreciated that in the ability to see just how loyal she was. It was rare to be around someone that was just that genuine and it made the time that he spent with her become cherished though he knew that it was going to be coming to an end much sooner that he would like since they would be returning to Belgium or Italy or wherever they were decided on before heading back to school. So when his parents invited both of them for dinner given the demeanor of the King and Queen while it was slightly suspicious he did not give it too much though, his mother had liked the girl and he knew that the Queen did tend to get lonely with how much his father was gone and travelling since she did not always go along she stayed to ensure that everything on Mexico’s end was being held up, really if you took a look at the two you would not see two that were more suited to be King and Queen and even though he knew that their relationship had been a product of an arranged marriage they had made it work and this caused him to have the same sort of hope for what he was about to go through. It was likely, and he knew that a lot of the students at Vineheart if they put just as much effort into making their arranged marriages work they would have no problem in doing so. When he asked her how the rest of her afternoon had been she answered that it had been uneventful and that she was worried about leaving Aubrey and he nodded with an understanding nod but knew that the Princess would be just fine seeing as she was using this trip to Mexico to blow off steam and get prepared for returning to the real world where things were not as ideal as she hoped after being involved in an arranged marriage with the prince of Italy who was a sworn enemy. The drive to the boat was very comfortable and easy as he parked the car and made his way to her door to open it for her politely. Never the type to forget his manners. He walked with her to the boat where he was pleased that his father approached and offered his hand to her and the two made a very polite and respectable greeting.
He watched intently his mother as she started to speak and before she even continued with the story he already knew where this was going to lead and started to get a little nervous his hands being clenched in his lap as he locked eyes with her across the table and did not dare to glance at Ellie as this all was being told, after all he did not want to see the shock and probably horror that was crossing her face, it was not like this was just a small announcement this was life altering for both of them and now the two would never just be acquiaintances that danced in masks at some ball in Spain or frolicked on the beaches of Mexico, the careless and easiness between them was gone and the stress of his own person life seemed to take that place, though he knew that was all due to what he had done earlier in his life and this was important so therefore he would support whatever decision was made but he would also make sure that he fought for the girl getting a say in the matter. While he knew that marrying her would by far not be the worst thing that happened to him and he could make it work he did not know what she would feel about marrying him. She did not seem to be the type that would like to be in the spotlight in that way but he could be wrong since he really did not know her all the well. He now came to realize why he had been doing errands for his mother since she had made a call into Belgium to talk to both her parents as well as the Queen of Belgium.
He did not have a clue how she was going to respond to this when she then excused herself and pushed herself off the chair and he did not really know what to think but knew that he needed to go after her and make whatever he could right. He owed that to her since she had been dragged into this by him. Hearing ragged gasps of air being taking in by her he walked closer to her and placed a gentle hand on her arm. I am so sorry, I swear I did not know about this He uttered gently. Well I did know about me needing to get married and becoming King next year but I knew nothing about who it was going to be and nothing about my mom calling your parents. He murmured trying to desperately say something right even though it did not look like that was going to be possible right now.

Marriage. She was going to get married. The world spun slightly as Ellie grasped the rail for support, staring down at her reflection in the water. A strand of hair had escaped the tight updo she'd placed it in, though it didn't do anything to help with what she was feeling right now. It only irritated her to no end and so she pushed it back almost angrily, then sighed and reached up to do the whole thing all over again. It was a pretty simple deal, twisting her hair around a simple small wooden stick and then fixing it in place, which formed a simple french bun. She didn't have the time to do anything else and well she didn't have the nerves either. Still staring at her reflection, Ellie saw Ric coming at her and didn't jump away, because the water told her he was coming.
Queen. Sacré, she was going to be a QUEEN. She needed to get in touch with Bella, super fast. This was spiralling out of control and she didn't know what to say or do or what to make of this. Obviously her parents had agreed, otherwise she wouldn't even have been here, which made her think that she'd been slightly cheated. Her mother could have given her a call after all, it had been a full afternoon and she knew that Ellie always had her phone close-by. There was no reason for all this shock when she could have gotten over it earlier and just been composed and calm with the Queen a few moments ago. But what was done was done, so she couldn't really complain about it, just try to make the best out of the situation. She realized the first thing she needed to do was pull herself together.
His hand was gentle against her arm. Ellie turned her head a bit to look from her reflection to him, then back again, shaking her head to try and get some words out. Her throat didn't want to cooperate. She cleared it once, gently. "I'm just ..." her voice died and she took a deep, calming breath to keep herself rom falling apart. It took a couple more breaths, but Ellie had gone through a crisis before, usually after Aubrey's tantrums or scandals. She could pull herself into one piece again, reassembling her scattered brains enough to go back there and act like a normal person. Or so she hoped. Well, she would definitely have to given that the royals were waiting for her. Rigo had come after her as well, he was leaning against her leg and looking up at her with big eyes. Absent-mindedly, she leaned in to scratch him behind his ears.
Finally, she took a last shaky breath. "A little warning would've been ... nice," she told Ric, but she didn't accuse him of anything. She was paler than before, but more or less composed now. "It's okay. I think I get it. I just ... needed some air." One of her hands still held on to the rail, and, tentatively, she let it go, wondering if she'd be able to stand up straight. She nodded to herself; she could do this. "I think we should go back. Your mom probably thinks I'm a lunatic," she said quietly. She could fal apart again later. aMaking sure not to bump into Rigo, Ellie stepped past him and looked at Ric to see if he was coming.

I just want to rock all night long,And put you in the middle of my spotlight
Marriage tended to be something that scared a lot of people off, he was not one of those people though because he had the beliefs that anything could work out if you gave it enough effort and time. To him in the general population it was much too easy to get a divorce, after all did the people even try to work it out before they gave up and were onto the next person that they were only going to be married maybe three years to again and these were the people that were picking their own partners so I mean what if they were all assigned someone to marry would it be different and what if it was actually a dishonor again to get divorced? Enough that people were not going to do it? People simply gave up too easy and he would see this every day in the form of the people back at Vineheart who were assigned a marriage and without even giving the person a chance to prove themselves they were trying to get out of it. If you did not give the other person a change who was to say that they could not be the person that you ended up falling in love with? His beliefs tended to be a little different on the situation and while he was usually against arranged marriages this time and currently he did not blame his parents and knew that it was essential for them to help him. After all he was not good at making decisions so therefore he trusted his mother’s decision because Mexico was what was important and he needed to make sure that he was ready to take the throne the moment that he turned eighteen. This was not to say that it did not come as a surprise for him though since he did not have a clue that the girl had even been considered as a possible candidate but now that he looked back on it, it almost seemed as though it was perfect and had been more than just a coincidence that she had been here with Aubrey at this time of crisis for Mexico, perhaps fate did have an hand in this but he was not a large believer in what people called fate. Fate would presume that it was possible for anyone to get the same opportunities no matter if they worked for them or not, it was a proven fact that if you were determined enough and worked hard enough you got the opportunities and that had nothing to do with fate. He stepped back from the table and met the knowing gazes of his parents they knew that this was going to hit her hard after all she did not have any sort of warning so this was not going to look bad on her. He touched her arm gently when he approached and was pleased that she did not cringe away and he talked to her quietly though she remained silent even though she seemed to want to say something. He was alright with just giving he the time she needed to regain her composure as he stood there softly gazing out into the ocean that passed by on the boat before the dog then trotted up to the two of them seemingly having woken up from his nap under the table where he had been sleeping. She seemed to be comforted by the presence of the dog and this reminded him how she had told him when they were back in Spain that she liked animals. She uttered that a little warning would have been nice and this caused him to nod lightly. I’m sorry. Deep voice stated though he was not too sure what else he could say to put her mind at ease. He nodded once more when she finished the next statement about ‘getting it’ though he wished that he really could mirror the statement as he was not too sure if he even was able to understand this all and the ways that everything was taking shape. He did not even know when this marriage was going to take place since it had all be within the talks that he and his mother had yet to have. They had not had the time to finish them the night before. She seemed to have gained a lot of courage in the last few minutes as she grabbed onto the railing and pulled herself back up to a standing position, already the dog was trotting back to his spot where he slumped back down to under the table and awaited their return since he knew that dinner was going to be served soon and the dog was a fan of anything that involved food and the possibility that something might be dropped under the table. I am sure that is not the case, she quite likes you already. He uttered gently and he knew that this was true because while his mother seemed to be laid back and good natured she was still Brazilian and would not tolerate the people that got on the wrong side of her and tended to be fiery but with Ellie she took on the sweet and motherly disposition almost like she was already a part of the family. He walked with her in the direction of the table once again and pulled the chair out for her just as the food was being placed down. Just as he thought his mother looked guilty. I apologize, that was probably such a large shock to you and it was not fair I should have given you some sort of warning. She uttered gently looking across the table at the girl sitting there with a soft expression.

Ellie decided that, when she would be able to, she'd get herself a dog. Maybe not the small purse-size ones she saw at Vineheart, but an actual dog. Like, a collie or something similar. She was liking Rigo a lot, and his presence against her foot comforted her. Maybe a girl would have shooed him away, saying he would mess up her white shoes or the dress, leaving fur all over, but Ellie wasn't like that. She had never been that way. Animals, such as there were, had the right to do whatever they wished just as much as humans, especially pets. And as she could see, Rigo was loyal to his master and to the family, which was also a big plus. Dog was a man's best friend. Maybe she would think about that. She could use a friend more, especially if she was going to be relocating across continents and oceans.
The thought made her shiver again, delicately, but she managed to hide the most of it. Belgium wasn't the brightest of countries, but it was her home, she'd been born there, and now it seemed she wouldn't be living there at all. Granted, these thoughts hadn't even occured to her while dating Starr. Maybe because they'd never really talked much about the future beyond the simple fact that he was headed to university with his royal, Lexi, and she was staying with Aubrey one year more. And after that well, she thought she would have served Aubrey on until the princess wouldn't need her anymore, or until another servant could be found who she would like enough to actually marry. But the plan had originally been to keep it all in Belgium, just so she could stay at home. Now though, it seemed she'd have to start hunting for dresses in white, green and red.
Looking at Ric, Ellie lightly touched his hand with hers. "It's not your fault. I'm okay." She would be even better once she was alone and able to relax and try to make sense of what was happening to her, but that was obviously beside the point. Looking from the prince to where the King and Queen were sitting, Ellie braved a small gulp. Her throat still felt sort of dry and she didn't think she'd get any better voice-wise. She would mostly be quiet throughout the meal, she thought. "Well, she's nice," she hd to agree, about his mother. The Queen really hadn't given Ellie any reason not to like her or anything similar. Obviously there had to be some lie there otherwise she was pretty sure nothing like this would have ever come to pass. No mother would marry their son to someone they didn't like.
Nodding at Ric, she went and sat down again just as the food was brought. Ellie was sure she'd never be able to get more than a couple of mouthfulls in, but she would do her best. Looking at the Queen once the lady apologised, Ellie took a breath and braved a smile. She'd never felt more scared than then, but never looked braver either. "No, I understand. I'm sorry. I was just ..." she searched for a word, then simply shrugged her shoulders apologetically. She was hoping the issue wouldn't be pressed. "And my parents agree?" If her mother thought this was a good idea - and well any sane person would say it was but Ellie wasn't one to go for someone just because they were rich or would be a King someday - then something good had to come out of this. She closed her eyes briefly, squaring her shoulders a bit. "If my parents and the Queen of Belgium agree, then I agree too. It would be an honour; yes, I will marry your son." Her cheeks coloured lightly as she risked a peek in Ric's direction, before bringing her eyes back to the Queen.

I just want to rock all night long,And put you in the middle of my spotlight
Seeing the way that the girl acted around dogs he knew that if this all went through and she was going to be the Queen of Mexico that his first gift to her was going to be a dog of her own, sure she could bond with Rigo and the blue heeler seemed to love her though it was not the same sharing someone elses dog with them. He would make sure and see to it that this was going to be an acceptable gift as he knew that the estate was made up of dog lovers that would not have a problem with caring for the animals when they were away plus it was be nice for the times that either of them were not around since it did tend to get a little lonely in the Mexican estate at times. He hated that he was not able to do anything to make her feel better knowing that he was the cause for this stress as well as the panic attack as she stood there looking like the smallest bit of wind would be able to blow her off the edge. She touched his hand and this brought his thoughts back to her. He knew that this was not going to happen though but the strangest things did tend to run through her mind. She was quick to regain her breath and with it came her confidence again and again he found himself marveling at the girl and her ability to recompose herself and look as though nothing had happened, well almost. As they made their way through the side of the boat and to where the dinner was just being placed down at the table and he found himself oddly silent once again since he really did not know what to think of what had just been said.
His mother did not waste time and made sure that she apologized right away seeing as she realized that this was a large deal to both of them and she might have been a little forward about the whole ordeal. He was pleased that Ellie thought that his mother was nice though since it was true that the Queen was not like a whole bunch of the other Queens and was very down to Earth when it came to her children had this whole thing not happened there would have been no way that she would have ever locked Ric into an arranged marriage and even now before the decision was made for her to help arrange it she had asked him over and over again and told him that she wished that it could be different and that he was ultimately in control of it all. He remained silent since the conversation was never really turned towards him and he was still coming to terms with everything that had just happened. He was going to make the best of this, he promised himself that and the girl was very nice and quite sweet so this should not be a problem and he was going to make sure that she knew just how important she was all the time. He already treasured her for the fact that she agreed to be married to him.
The words were still etched into his mind when she told his mother that it would be an honor to marry him and he could not help but smile lightly. Under the table he moved his hand to lightly touch hers and squeeze hers gently in a reassuring manner. Even though they were going to be married in only a couple months he was convinced to do this all right. He wanted to get to know her and did not want to push her out of her comfort zone at any point in time. He was in a daze the rest of the time that they ate and the boat ride came to a finish as the sun had just finished setting and he turned to the girl. Could I interest you in a walk when we get back to the estate? I am sure that Rigo would love to get out and get some exercise. He asked and watched her, this was going to be such a large transition and yet he was starting to look forward to it since that was going to mean that was one hurdle that he had overcome and soon enough he would be well on the way to getting his life back on track. He knew that before they were married he was going to need to tell her the truth about what happened with his father and the fact that it was nothing to do with the former King of Mexico, he was going to have to talk to his parents about that though before he managed to say anything to her. When the dinner was over his father stood and his mother walked towards Ellie with a broad smile wrapping her in a hug. Welcome to the family dear. She uttered and his father surprised him as well by doing the same and mirroring his mother’s motions. Perhaps it was the fact that his two children were boys but it was uncommon to see his father hug someone. After they uttered good night he walked with her back to the car remaining silent since he was not too sure what to say after all this had happened, what did you say to someone that spontaneously in the last hour had just become your future wife?

Once the words were out of her mouth, Ellie felt a tiny bit better. She'd always agonised while trying to make a decision, but once it was made she followed it through, no matter what. And so she was going to follow through with this one as well, she'd given her word and no matter what anyone else said, she was going to keep it. Logically, there was no reason why she couldn't be as happy with Ric as with someone else, or perhaps even happier, given that she probably wouldn't have to work so hard all the time. That was a nice thought, although she banished it almost immediately. She wasn't someone to sit and do nothing while others worked for her. She didn't know how it worked with other royal couples, but she would try and convince Ric that she could help, with whatever he needed. It didn't have to be politics or whatever - but mundane things, things that he didn't need to worry about. She could do that.
His hand, large and warm, wrapped around hers under the table. Ellie didn't risk looking in his direction just in case. Her cheeks would probably betray her, such traitors they were. But her fingers fluttered lightly, returning the gesture. It was nice to know that your future husband thought a bit about you and how this situation affected you in the long run. This would change everything quite a bit, since, effectively, she was his fiancée now and she didn't think she would be allowed to care for Aubrey anymore. That was going to be a huge change, she didn't know how she would adapt to it. She'd been trained all her life to serve someone, not to be served. But maybe, with Ric's help, she could get used to not jumping at every command and such. Ellie didn't want to think about the marriage too much - it was too much to handle just thinking about her agreement, not the actual situation. What would come afterwards was off-limits to her thoughs as well for now.
She didn't pay much attention to the food anymore, or the conversation. Mostly she just tried focusing her thoughts on anything but the marriage, and Rigo helped a little bit since she focused on him most of the time. It was a way to calm herself down, and she hoped she looked composed enough on the outside. She knew it would take a while before she'd be able to get back to her room and completely understand what had just happened, so until then she needed to put on the brave face. For the Queen, who was so kind to her, for the former King, so charismatic, and for Ric, who she thought felt bad about this whole situation, which was hardly logical. After all, it was something that would help them all in a way. So when they stood at the end of dinner, Ellie managed not to crumble when the Queen hugged her; it was easier when the King did, he was quite tall and therefore he didn't see her face much.
Her heels clacked against the concrete as she nodded to Ric's suggestion. "That ... sounds good." She smiled at the dog, finding solace in his presence again, and wondered what else this night would bring. His car was where he'd left it, and Ellie waited patiently for him to unlock it so she could get in. If they would be walking afterwards on the estate, she would have to change shoes though, or maybe go barefoot, but it was a little bit cold for that. "I'll just change shoes when we get back," she told Ric quietly after slipping into the car, "I can't walk around the estate in these. I might twist an ankle." She didn't want to be handicaped by anything right now, she needed to be poised and calm and collected for the remaining part of the evening that she would spend with Ric.

I just want to rock all night long,And put you in the middle of my spotlight
He was not even too sure if his parents had been expecting a response this soon from her though it was nice that the wait was over and they were set to start getting used to this arrangement since they did not have too long before it would be official and they would be married. He knew that this winter was the time that his parents had wanted it to happen and he could not think of a better time since then it would not be too hot in Mexico and he would not be roasting out in the summer sun wearing the uniform of the Royal Guard. It was not cold in the winter either though so if she wished they would be able to have an outdoor wedding but he told himself that this was all going to be up to her and whatever she wanted. He was pleased that it was going to be happening though in the least and now he was set on his next goal, make this process as easy as possible and not only that he was going to do this right. While he knew that it was probably not expected of him he was going to propose to her and it was going to be a big deal, something that she was going to remember for the rest of her life, maybe in a few years they would look back on the day and smile about it finding it funny how the two of them had been brought together like that and marveling at what it had turned into. While he did not want to admit it and knew that it would hit his reputation hard he was a true romantic and held onto the belief that things happened for a reason so while the rest of the Royals that were involved in arranged marriages spent so much time fighting it he was just going to treasure this and make it work. He was stubborn and he knew that this was going to be hard but he was up for the challenge and ready to face it head on.
The rest of the dinner was not too eventful given that there was nothing more that could be announced that would ever come close to being this much of a shock and he was glad that they seemed to be at ease around each other. The King and Queen were friendly people and they were going to see this as the same way as he did, an opportunity for everything to fall back in place the way it should have been to start and a chance to start over fresh and the Queen had already taken an immediate liking to the girl and his mother’s approval was something that was so special and essential for him since if anything he was closest to the Queen. The next school year was going to be tough for them because of course there were going to rumors flying but he was going to do his best to make sure that they were all silenced and he would protect her for anything of that sort. She was stressed already and did not need the added stress of judgment. Aubrey would have to find a new servant that was true but there was no reason why the two could not remain close seeing as it seemed that her and Ellie were closer than Aubrey was with anyone. He did not know how the Belgian princess was going to handle this and did not know if Ellie was going to want to be the one to break the news to her or if it was going to be Ric to do it and this was in the back of his mind and he would remember it when he got the chance to talk to her alone, there were a lot of things that they needed to find out and get a feel for.
He smiled in her direction when she returned the squeeze of his hand though she did not seem to be risking looking at him which he did not blame her for. She remained silent the whole time for the rest of dinner and it seemed to take forever for the end and he was feeling a little better by the time he stood and they were excused for the evening but not before his parents each wrapped her in a hug. She was a part of the Mexican Royal family now. With a promise to see his parents in the morning he stepped off the edge of the boat watching as his dog jutted ahead of them to plunge into the ocean from where the ocean touched the sand ahead. Glaring at the dog he walked beside her. He always does this every time, and he knows it makes me angry, though luckily I come prepared. He said with a small chuckle as the now soaking wet dog trotted along beside them. He seemed to know better than to come too close since the two were dressed up for the evening and when he reached the car he immediately unlocked the door for her and held it open while popping the trunk and towel drying the animal that he swore was standing there smirking mischievously.
He stepped into the driver’s side for her to state that she needed to change her shoes before they went on their walk and he nodded. Of course. He uttered with a small smile. He was excited to spend a little time with her with just the two of them and also vowed that nothing about the marriage was going to be brought up for the rest of the evening. He wanted to get to know her and this did not mean stressing her out more than she already was. It was peaceful back at the estate since all the staff or at least most of them were off for the evening and off doing whatever they did in their spare time so there was no one around when he opened the door for her. Meet you back here in a few minutes. He uttered and he knew that Aubrey would not be wondering where she was since the princess had been notified that her servant was being taken for the evening and he knew that this was going to be the first small sneaking suspicion that was present with the girl. But if Ellie wanted it to wait then that was going to be what happened it was all up to her. After changing into a more comfortable pair of shorts and a t-shirt he stepped back out into the hallway and sat on the bottom step rubbing behind the dogs ears as he waited.

She was taken by susprise at the splash, though she was sure she should have anticipated it at some point. But it made her smile lightly as she looked over the rail to see the dog swimming towards the shore happily, and shaking himself off. It was testimony that he always did this, because he didn't seem phased at all, actually he looked rather smug if a dog could be smug. Ellie wanted to laugh, and she would have if she had a throat that wasn't as dry as hers, obviously the things that had happened in the short while she was here were still having a huge impact on her speaking and thought process. But Rigo had successfully managed to capture her attention yet again and she was thankful to the pup. It would have taken a lot more for a human to make her feel slightly better, like things were still the same as they were before.
"I'm sure he just does this to tease you," she murmured in Ric's direction, glancing his way with a small smile on her lips before looking at Rigo again, who was wagging his tail happily with his tongue lolling out the side of his snout. He was so cute she wanted to go and hug him, but of course that would ruin her dress and it had been slightly expensive so she wouldn't be doing any of that any time soon. Shaking her head, Ellie headed to where Ric held the car door open for her, sliding in and seating herself while watching as the prince took care of his dog, toweling him off. It seemed like a routine and she was actually, surprisingly, looking forward to see it repeated at some point in the future. The thought caught her completely by surprise and she banished it before it could run away entirely. She needed to stay focused.
Back at the estate, she took her time, though not too much, she didn't want to leave him waiting at any cost. She changed into the dress she'd worn previously to lunch, because it washed easily enough and she wouldn't have to worry about faling down or Rigo jumping up at her if he wanted to, and slipped into the comfortable flats again. She left her hair up while she hastily made sure everything was okay with Aubrey, meaning checking the room for any messages and her phone one more time. No, everything seemed fine, and as far as she could see from the one text that she'd received, the princess was enjoying some down time relaxing away from all the drama. That made Ellie relax herself because it meant that she could sleep easy tonight - no matter that she would have to tell Aubrey about this all at some point, given that she couldn't be her servant anymore after she was married. This was going to be interesting.
Quietly closing the door behind her, Ellie hastily made her way to the stairs and down, afraid she would have left Ric waiting too long. Thankfully she managed to see him sitting on the bottom step before she'd fly right over him onto the marble floor. "Oh! Sorry. I needed to change dresses to, in the end." She took a deep breath to steady herself, and keep both her feet firmly planted down as she circled around the prince and stepped onto the ground again levelly, smiling at Rigo and patting the dog's head. "You'll have to lead the way - I hadn't had time to explore properly yet," she told him in a quiet voice, fixing the sleeve of her dress while she said this and letting her hands drop.

I just want to rock all night long,And put you in the middle of my spotlight
The dog that leapt off the small Warf they were walking up seemed to amuse her and cause her to smile which was something that he liked to see so he did not allow this to bother him knowing the dog was doing it just to get under his skin. He laughed lightly as the animal then trotted up to the two of them walking with them the rest of the way to the car and she uttered that he did this just to bug him. Of course he does, he’s wearing the biggest doggy smirk right now if that is even possible. He uttered lightly. When they reached the car he did not hesitate to open the door for her and then the trunk to grab the towels that he stashed here. After all when you lived in Mexico one of the things there was always to do was go swimming and you never knew when an urge would provoke an impromptu swim after all the ocean certainly was amazing. After the dog was dry enough to not mess the seats up he allowed the animal into the back seat of the car, glad that the dog had enough manners to know that he was expected to stay in the back and not hover over the center console like some other dogs would since he knew that it was a large distraction and tended to drive Ric crazy. Not to mention the fact that it usually ended in hovering over the person in the passenger’s seat and while Ellie might not mind this there were people like his mother that tended to drive with him that would. While he had gotten Rigo as quite a coincidence seeing as the puppy was found behind one of the dumpsters of one of the restaurants where he usually went he was happy that he had been a Blue Heeler since the breed was known for just how smart they were, he was not a fan of the dogs that did not have a single thought running through their brain and that you had to constantly watch to make sure that they were not chewing things up. Rigo would never dream of it. He opened the door for her as the car was parked in the large garage at the front of the estate and he stepped into the house from the side of the garage he allowed her to walk in front of him on the way to the stairs knowing that she was going to take a lot longer than he was. But he still did want to change as well and took the stairs two by two into where his room was. His brothers door was open and he could see that the younger boy was not in his room. His brother tended to be a little more wild and less mature that his older brother and was very into going and partying, while it was not something that overly worried him he always did keep an eye on him to make sure that it did not get out of control. In some ways his brother seemed to take after their cousin Dante a little more even though he was still young Ric was able to see that when he was older he was going to be a lot like the current reigning ‘Kings of Vineheart’ all he could hope was that he grew out of the phase long before it turned out that way since it was not going to look good on the family. But even so who was he to say anything since he had been the one to be involved with the gang no matter if it had been intentional or not. He would much rather his brother get into trouble at Vineheart than anywhere else since Mexico could be a dangerous place for people his age.
As soon as he was wearing a more casual shirt and pair of shorts he made his way with the dog tailing him back down the stairs, since the two had made a habit of going at walks at this time of the day the dog was looking at him expectantly and bouncing up and down causing Ric to roll his eyes. He was able to hear the light steps as she walked in his direction and this caused a small smile to touch lips. Oh its fine. He was pleased that he did not have to look for the dogs tennis ball since it was already in the animals mouth, that was a common game where the dog would pretend like he did not remember where he had put it and then sat back as his master looked all over for it, and if Ric were to stop he would then sulk. The dog certainly knew how to manipulate Ric. He lightly unfolded himself from where he was sitting on the stairs and stood back up. He nodded when she told him that he was going to need to lead the way since she did not get the chance to explore as of yet. Walking towards the front door instead of heading down to the beach he walked along the path that lead into a dimly lit trail through the small wooded area that was used for just this purpose, walks around the place since it tended to be quite scenic. So if you were not serving Aubrey, what would your plans have been when you graduated school? He knew that she would follow the Belgian princess to the ends of the world but right now he was interested in her and not what the Belgian princess would cause her to do. He wanted to learn more about her.

You could tell that Ric loved his puppy, it was obvious even when he was talking about how annoying something was for him. Ellie was always good at reading things like that, so she just smiled and watched the interraction of dog and owner. It was like watching a small kid, really, and all of a sudden the thought of seeing this on a regular basis didn't sound too bad. It sounded real, actually, a fact that thoroughly scared her and also ... was it anticipation that she felt? She couldn't be sure, she would know after everything was said and done and they would actually be married. Things would definitely change for her then and she didn't think she'd get used to it quite as quickly as to everything else. Right now she wasn't even wearing a ring yet, which in a sense was slightly relaxing. It was sort of less real and close that way.
But oh marriage! She and Bella had talked about it countless times, but never in the space of what could be months. Always, it had been something to look forward to. True she didn't have scrapbooks with pictures on how she wanted to look like that day, but she did have a general idea, which, s horrified as she was by it, was already forming in her head. She convinced herself it was her practical side speaking. If she got the dress done sooner then she wouldn't have to worry about it among all the other things. So she was going to have to make a check with a seamstress at some oint and possibly take Bella dress-hunting. She was obviously set in the fact that Bella would be her maid of honour, no matter what. She was her best friend after all. There was no way Ellie would be saying yes to anyone without Bella at her side, for some form of normality.
She was done quickly enough, probably quicker than a royal would have been, given that she'd always been used to working fast with herself. Aubrey needed more help than Ellie, so Ellie tended to work her way through her own stuff methodically and super fast so she could help the princess in any way possible without worrying about herself. So it was really just a matter of changing before she was back down the steps and at Ric's side. The eery thing was that she could totally see this happening again in the future, when she would actually be his wife. The word made her shudder inwardly and she shied away from it simply to keep her mind sane for a little longer. She could accept a lot of things, but not this, not yet anyway. She knew - or hoped that Ric wouldn't pressure her into that particular acceptance too hard.
Smiling softly in his direction, she let him lead the way with Rigo bounding out before them. The dog really was super cute and she would enjoy playing with him at some point, if she was allowed. She'd always wanted a pet herself. At Ric's question, Ellie looked at him with a perfectly honest, open face, "I don't know. I would've served someone else, I guess. I was brought up with that future before me, and I never minded. I still don't. My family needed to get one child to a position where they didn't have to worry about me money-wise. So if I wouldn't have served Aubrey I would've gone to a lady at the Belgian court. That's always been my future." Well, uptil today of course.

I just want to rock all night long,And put you in the middle of my spotlight
There were certain aspects of marriage that were exciting even to someone like him who never expected it to happen within the next couple years, he had always thought that he would be one of the rare members of the Royal families that was actually allowed to experience love and fall in love before then going about everything right, dating the person for a lengthy amount of time, revealing his love then proposing but sometimes things changed and he did not have a problem with it he was finding. If anything he was becoming more and more fond of her even just as the day progressed and he did enjoy that she did not freak out like some other girls would and protest and fight against it tooth and nail. She took the information and did not take too long to decide that it was something that she was going to do and even though he did not know her very well he trusted that when she gave her word that it was true. After all she was serving Aubrey and if he knew the princess well enough he knew that she was not going to have people around her that she did not trust with uttermost certainty she had too many secrets to hide and a servant that was not loyal like Ellie was could get themselves in a hell of a lot of trouble.
There were a lot of plans that were going to need to be made in the next couple months and he knew that anyone but a Royal family would not be able to pull off a wedding at this late of notice but of course his mother knew all the right strings to pull and this was not going to be a problem. He was going to try his best to co-ordinate it all so that the girl got the wedding that she always dreamt of because he knew that even if she did not admit it every girl did have a picture in their mind at how their wedding day was supposed to look and go off. This was very important to him even if it meant that he was going to have to talk to her best friend about it to make this something special. He knew that because it was going to be a Royal wedding there were going to be things that were non- negotiable about it such as his own attire but there were also things that could be changed since the tradition was not as engrained into the Mexican family as some of the other countries. While the two of them were going to be married that did not mean that he was going to ever push her into anything. He wanted dearly to win her over and knew that this was going to take time if it did ever end up happening. He held onto the hope that the two of them got along well and that this was a possibility though. Never would a step be placed wrong in regards to her. He knew that the official announcement of the engagement would be coming sooner than either of them wished but at the same time he was convinced to do this all right. She would be wearing the Royal ring that had been passed on through the family for generations but if he had his way there was also going to be another special ring present that was from him. He was going to ask her to marry him like almost all the other guys in the world. The modern day asked for permission from the bride’s father and he was even going to go that far. If he needed to fly to Belgium to ask her father then he did not have a problem with it.
Rigo was more than excited to be outside on the walk that traditionally Ric took him on every night and he was showing off for the person that was not usually present on the nightly walks. He zig zagged through the trail darting back and forth before finally settling to trot alongside them. When he asked his question he glanced over at her for her to tell him that she was brought up to be a servant and would have served someone else if not Aubrey and he nodded understanding. After her telling him that their family needed to get one of their children to a point that they did not have to worry about her financially he nodded lightly. It was understandable. Ah I see. Well if you could have any career in the entire world what would it be? I would have always loved to be a police officer. He uttered gently. He loved the idea of being able to help people and protecting them and knew that his height certainly helped in detaining them but that would be something that never would have been allowed for the Prince of Mexico it was much too dangerous and he would be taking the throne the moment that he was able to legally.
