credit: maxine @ caution 2.0 She had always felt like she was a little different from the rest of the Queens, the gossip that passed through the hallways like wildfire and through the gossip blog did not even tend to capture her attention. Why would she even care who was throwing themselves on one another in the first place? She certainly did not want to hear about Clara and Dante anymore but she was very glad that had all been called to an end in the last year where Dante's love for his fiance's twin sister came out and was released to the entire school. While it was almost sinister for her to be happy that it would mean the the end of Clara and Dante she knew that the other Queen could do better. The guys around the school tended to be pigs hence the reason that she was seen as one of the untouchable girls. Her future was too bright to allow one of this bimbos stand in the way of her goals. Harvard had been on her sights from the time that she had been sent to Vineheart for the first time when she was in her first year. She had never wavered from that goal and now it was just within the girls reach, even though she hated to admit that education really meant nothing to her parents at all she wanted to be able to please them. They were just going along with her attending the three years of Harvard to appease their only daughters wish and because they knew that they would get a piece of her mind if they did not allow it and sent her back to Egypt right away. Her father was convinced that she had a little more growing up to do anyways before she took the throne and that thought in itself was enough to cause the fire that ran hot through her veins to spike. If he saw some of the other girls in the school he would realize how inaccurate that statement in itself but she could already hear his deep voice in the back of her mind, never wavering always strong, deep and almost like a metronome, " Adrijana if you think that just because the other girls in the school are doing it makes immature behavior appropriate I obviously have failed in raising a proper princess." She really needed to stop doing that, picturing exactly what her father would say in certain instances because he was halfway across the world and therefore did not matter right now. It was the eve of the winter gala and a time that she would have normally looked forward to, being stuck in the room that she shared with all the other Queens and getting ready all day, but since she was graduated did she really want to step foot into the gala? She knew that alumni were welcome but that did not make it any less pathetic that she did not have something better to do right now and she was here at Vineheart. She had finished her semester though and there was a break before she was going to go back to Egypt so she had decided that she was going to spend the last week before her duties took over her life with Nada, her cousin and a close friend of hers so since Nada was going it seemed only appropriate that she was going to attend tonight as well, she did know all of the people there anyways, well most of them and the rest that she did not know tended to know her name, there was not a single Queen that was out of the spotlight.
Taking a deep sigh as she stepped out of the hot shower that she had in Nada's room a towel was wrapped around her as she glanced in the mirror, tonight was going to be about de-stressing a little because with all the exams that she had just finished and all the things that were going on where she was now living and the fact that she was away from the girls that she knew so well it was starting to take a toll on her, she would never show it though, she was far too pig headed and independant for that. She was the type to do something just because she was told that she would not be able to and while that might be all the wrong reasons it did tend to make her a challenge to be around and a very harsh competitor. Reminiscing about the many memories of the school she noticed that she was wasting a lot of the time alloted to get ready and she was sure that any moment that Nada was going to be knocking on the door to get her out of the bathroom to come with her down to the ballroom. The parties on the actual school grounds were the ones that tended to be a little lame since it was nearly impossible to sneak alcohol into and while she did not do a lot of drinking herself it was always nice to take the edge off when she was going to be forced to wander the room talking to people she had no interest in even being around in the first place. Biting her bottom lip a charming smile was pressed onto her lips, the same expression that tended to hide every accurate emotion and confuse anyone around her. It did not take much for the expression to change to bark a snapping comment back at someone but for the time being she might as well appear pleasant. The flowing royal blue gown was enough to bring a genuine smile to her lips though as it was slipped easily on and fastened to hang naturally over athletic stature. It was a variation from the colors that she usually wore but she knew that it would be something that stood out against the rest of the crowd since she needed to set an example. She was a role model that a lot of the younger Queens and proteges would look up to so the need for everything to be perfect was even more heightened than usual, even graduating from the school did not seem to get rid of the expectations and soon she was going to have to impress a whole country. Her stomach churned with the thought of that though it was pressed to the back of her mind as well as her favourite perfume was spritzed on her neck followed by the necklace that her mother had bought her for her last birthday that rarely was taken off and dangly earings that glittered where it was possible to see them through long brown hair. With the winter months it was starting to darken a little more the natural blonde highlights were less prominent than in the summer. Nada had already left to go and retrieve Dom so she was left to finish dressing herself and stepping out of the room about fifteen minutes late since it was deemed an appropriate time. Steps were light and fluid carrying her to the ballroom that was decorated lavishly. First on the agenda would be to find the younger brother of one of her best friends, reluctantly she had agreed to speak with him on Clara's behalf but at least she would feel like her close friend duty was over as soon as she found him.

IT'S HARD FOR ME TO SAY but I think you've taken my heart away
Time was of the essence and he made sure to not waste any of it. Leon was never one to be late to anything and the Winter Gala would be no exception. He had arrived to his dorm early enough to be the first in the shower, which was a major plus since he didn't want to wait around. He didn't like standing and not doing anything productive or meaningful. That might explain why he was so heavily involved around the campus, never allowing for a spare moment to himself if he could help it. It wasn't that he didn't enjoy a little Leo time but he preferred to spend his time with others; learning and socializing. There were never any complaints from those around him and he never complained about anything if he could help it, so he continued with his hectic schedule. In all honesty, he enjoyed every single second of it. The only downfall was fitting his time with some of his closer friends, there were times when he didn't even have time to tutor them but if they asked him correctly (which they always did) he'd cancel something out of his schedule to help them out. Leon couldn't deny people. It was not only too hard and too mean, but he just wasn't used to it. He showered, allowing a few minutes of leisure time for the hot water to massage his back. It fell steadily and he couldn't help the sigh of relief that escaped his lips. He lathered his body and rinsed out the soap. It was quite relaxing and he felt more in the mood for the dance than when he had originally stepped into the shower. He wrapped a towel around his midsection and wiped the mirror clean from the steam that had ended up covering it. He brushed his teeth and made sure that his beard was nicely trimmed and as ready as he was to get going.
Leon opened the door and looked around. He made sure to joke around with his roommates about the dance and soon they launched into a conversation about the girl who would look the best. He greeted this change of conversation with an eye-roll, knowing that each girl would look uniquely beautiful. He didn't voice this, knowing that each one would either hit him with something relatively nearby to them or attempt to try and take his towel. Both of those just didn't seem to fly by Leo. While his other roommates continued to talk, he dressed up in his best suit. It adorned his frame well and fit him snugly enough to not make him look like it was baggy fit. He glanced over at the mirror that the men had (yes, they owned full length mirrors and were not ashamed) and grinned at his own reflection. He was by no means arrogant but he knew how to appreciate when something looked good and, boy, did he look good. While he finished getting ready and spritzing on some cologne, he glanced at those around him and realized they were going to go with the fashionably late card. He sighed and waved them off as he departed for the ballroom.
It was elaborately decorated fit for future Kings and Queens. He was pleased to see this and smiled politely as he entered the premises. Just as he had expected, everyone was dressed to impress. He went around the room, greeting and making light conversation with people. Leon was raised to be perfectly educated when speaking to women, but he also had such a charismatic streak that was just naturally his. He joked and flirted with a few girls here and there, not really deciding to dance at all that night, but just having fun. There were a few that caught his eye but none that captured much more than his eye. Shallow was such a prominent trait among young women. He finally made a full circle and wound up with some of his male friends. They were all having a riot and talking about who they were going to ask to dance and whatnot, when a hush over fell the men. He was surprised to see that they were all whispering. They never really whispered about anything. Guys tended to be loud about all declarations, but when one of the last Queens of Vineheart entered the area with a beautiful gown hugging her figure, there was no words that could have really been said. They all questioned what she was doing there and while she was beautiful, Leo only dared to sneak a quick glance to take her in. His older sister and he didn't have the best relationship, which was strange since all of his family tended to be tightly-knit together. It was the whole King thing that got his sister down since she was technically the first born. Still, he knew it was not enough to just glance once at her. Sooner or later, he'd go over and say his hellos. He parted ways from the guys and went over to the refreshments.

She was not too sure why she had even agreed to coming to this event in the first place, the nice thing about graduating had been being able to give away the right to get to go to events like this which by her standards were deemed dry and enough to irritate her thoroughly. She would be better off to be back in Harvard at some of those parties that were there, along with the rest of the people that were her age, even if she did have to be accompanied by a security guard at least it was discreet and she felt a little more at ease. There was no alcohol here at the party and while she never drank to get drunk she would not mind being able to take the edge off and she really doubted that Nada's room had any alcohol in it, she loved her cousin dearly but she did know that the girl was a bit more of a goody than she was known to be and there were standards that the exotic princess needed to keep up, she appeared to be just another member of the elusive group that was the most sought after in the school but really if people were to take the time to get to know her and not be to intimidated by her they would find out that there were a little more than just looks. She was cunning and very smart, she had never had trouble with school this was where she excelled and she rarely ever studied because that would cut into time with the Queens and other responsibilities that she tended to drown under. So many people had told her that she was spreading herself too thin but who were they to tell her that they had no right and she knew her limits and them saying things like that would only make her even more determined to succeed. She was the type that when she was told that she could not do something would sit there and fume about it until she then went ahead and did it to the best of her ability to then flaunt it in there face and really there was no challenge too large for the Egyptian princess, that was why she was seen as a little intense, a member of the group that was quite intimidating in the first place it did not help that her personality was overpowering as well. If you could not handle the truth there was no need at all to talk to her because that was what was going to be spoken. While the other Queens were a little more known for gossip and little white lies that always seemed to come back to bite them in the ass she was the one that was so blunt that it was often just as painful as lying. She knew that there were eyes on her the moment that she walked into the ballroom that was something that she was used to, the Queens tended to get a lot of attention and while she was no longer in the reigning group of the school she knew that she was still respected as alumni.
There were a few dances that she did turn down in the next couple rounds that she made of the place since they would surely be able to see that right now she had no interest in dancing and that this was much more important especially when that was finished and she knew that she needed to speak with Clara's brother before she lost track of him for the night and before she lost interest in being Clara's messenger. Stopping in front of the punch that was set out before them. Shame it's not spiked, I was looking forward to a cat fight. Everyone knew what she was referring to and it had been one of the most glorious moments last year where Leena had to be pulled off Aubrey kicking and screaming by one of the chaperones of the dance and that brought a small smug smile to her face with lips pursed before she suddenly turned all business. I am not sure when or why I agreed to be your sisters carrier pidgeon but she asked me to talk to you. The exotic lilt to her voice was the reminants of the Arabic accent that she was sure that she would always have and it set her apart from the rest of the group. She wanted me to inform you that she was cancelling her trip to Vineheart to visit family, which seems a little bit of a moot point since she was supposed to be here right now and I assume you already figured that out but, what can I say, don't kill the messenger. She uttered with a dry tone. Next time she would be sure to tell Clara to just talk to her brother herself since she had no interest in the girl thinking that she was going to jump through hoops and the only reason that she did this in the first place was because she had been going the same way in the first place and because that meant that she could ask something of Clara when she needed it, it was all about the allies for her and she hated to admit it but it was not too often when she did something because she could and because it was the right thing to do unless it benefitted her.

IT'S HARD FOR ME TO SAY but I think you've taken my heart away
There were few people who remained wallflowers like himself. It wasn't that he didn't like to dance or was embarrassed to, but he just didn't feel up to it at the moment. In fact, Leon was among the male population that loved to dance. It was the feeling of working out and having fun at the same time increased his enjoyment. He was pretty wrapped up with swaying to the music that he didn't notice when one of his friends came over and asked him how to ask a girl to dance. He chuckled and spent a few minutes prepping the young man. All it really involved was boosting his ego to make him believe that their was no real reason to fear failure. There really wasn't, the people here were all assembled to have a good time and he doubted that anyone could be rejecting another person at this moment. He, himself, had made sure to stick near the refreshments to fend off a few females. Usually if he was there, they'd assume he was busy and wouldn't ask him anything. He felt terrible about hiding out for the moment, but he just wanted to take a breather before going out with his playface one.
He didn't last being alone very long. It didn't surprise him when he noticed the Egyptian princess walking over. His sister and her were pretty good friends so he had seen her before, but nothing compared to seeing her up close. She was a beauty. What did end up surprising him was hearing her talk and more surprising, that she was addressing him. It took him a bit to understand that she was talking to him, simply because her first comment was as though she was wondering aloud. He found his voice quickly and casually added, "No one really wins in a cat fight though except maybe the spectators." He listened carefully at her message and couldn't help the small sigh that escaped him. It was like his sister to say one thing and do another. He loved her, dearly whether she believed this or not. Clara was just a little cold when it came to Leon. His father had always noticed it and had told him to pay her no heed, but how could he not? She was family and he was the most family-oriented guy out there. That was the same as telling a diabetic candy addict not to think about sweets. Impossible.
"Don't worry about it. I had figured she wouldn't show up when there was a lack of a message for me earlier." Leon couldn't help but wonder why she had sent her friend and not a text. Wasn't it faster? Though, he shouldn't be complaining. He was being graced by this woman and her accent. Girls might love British accents but nothing could compare to Adrijana's accent. "You're lucky. I'm not much of a hunter so I can't say I'd shoot anything, let alone a messenger." He paused with a slight smirk on his lips before saying, "Hello by the way. It's been a while. You're looking ravishing, as always. How have you been?" He turned to look at her, full on now. His black eyes met her hazel ones. "Enjoying life away from Vineheart?" As he finished speaking, he raised a drink to his lips and took a sip.

Normally she would be forced out dancing a couple times with different people through the night but that was just because it was the appropriate thing to do and it was expected of a Queen of Vineheart, she had to be social to an extent even though it was not something that was deemed as a good time with her. She did need these people eventually as allies when she was going to ruling Egypt so she better keep them in her good books even though she did a good job at spooking most of the boys away, she was not known to be the easiest one to get along with and this was a common fact that ran through the hallways, probably one of the hardest of the Queen of Vineheart to get along with well with the exception of Leena, no one tended to get along too well with her. At least Ade was a lot more quiet about her disapproval. She just would rather keep her thoughts to herself but everything tonight seemed to be getting on her nerves, tense steps were forced to be smooth and the rigid way that she held her shoulder required a deep calming breath to send the muscles into relaxation. She did not need people to notice that she was tense right now because it was all about the way that she was looking to the public and before she took on Egypt as the first ever female ruler that was not just married into the crown she was going to need to work her hardest on making sure that she could appear calm and collected and put on a bright smile for the crowds, this was all practice for something that was going to be so much bigger and it was closing in on her, she knew that she was not getting any younger and every birthday was just a reminder that it was one more closer her 21st and the time that she was going to be taking the throne, hell it was only two years away now after this time and that was enough to make her want to run for the hills but she would never allow anyone to see that since she was the strong type of person that would never admit that they needed help or that they needed to talk. Really the only two people that she had heart to heart conversations with were Nada and Sera and even then she did not let all the walls down and she did not tell them everything. She did not tell them that she sometimes wondered if it was even possible to ever make her father proud and the digs that he tended to make at her, stating that the harsh words were something that she was going to have to get used to and it was just conditioning for when she took the throne and there was going to be skeptics all around, did he know how it made her stomach churn though and she was not supposed to hear it from her father after all when she needed him to be on her side not her biggest skeptic. Why was she bitter? Because she was trained to be that way, Egypt was not going to be an easy audience, she had always took on the same fiery persona of her mothers combined with the stubborn behavior of her father so really a lot of people already were able to see that the princess was a force to be reckoned with, one that you did not stand in the way of.
The fact that she was friends with his sister really did not mean that she wanted to have too much to do with him, in her mind it was not just one of those association things because she knew that they did not get along too well to begin with. So therefore there was no ties held to the man in her mind as she approached besides the fact that Clara had asked her to speak to him. He was standing at the refreshments table and her steps were light and graceful as she then stood right in front of him resting an arm on the counter in front of him, deep amber eyes rested on him as she spoke before glancing away with a non-chalant expression crossing her face. Isn't that the entire point? After all if they just wanted to settle something with the less drama possible it would be done behind closed doors would it not? Instead of prolonging it out in the open just to get a cover story of the gossip blog. The first comment had been random but it did show the girls quick witted nature, not just a pretty face, she did a lot of thinking about things like this. Subjects that would not even cross another girls mind. A disinterested shrug rolled over her shoulders when he stated that he did not think that Clara was going to show up in the first place since she had not sent a message, that was none of her business and it was something that did not matter to her at all already it was completely dispelled from her mind, message delivered. Good to know that you pose no threat. She uttered and there was even the tinge of a joking tone to her voice, what the hell was that supposed to mean, was the comment bordering on flirty. She back tracked immediately and almost scowled. Nice guys were not her type, in fact she simply did not have the time to spend any time at all chasing guys. She was too busy and they were too much of a hassle. There was a small smile that crossed her face and settled on lips when he told her that she looked ravishing. Thank you. She was not rude enough to just ignore a compliment. I have been quite well, enjoying Harvard, understanding why it is a dream of so many people's to go there. She uttered, an ivy league school like that had always been in her plans. He asked her what life was like being away from Vineheart. Not too much different really, its still school for the time being. How about you, what have you been up to? She was not normally the type for small talk but she supposed that she could make an exception for the moment even though normally she would have just brushed the attempt off and made her way to the rest of the party.

IT'S HARD FOR ME TO SAY but I think you've taken my heart away
The thought about a cat fight erupting in the beautifully decorated room lingered in his mind. He couldn't resist the idea that the whole thing would be rather comical. Any two of the ladies that were around him would look ferocious if they were to fight against each other. Still, Leon wasn't the guy to linger much longer on that thought. He found the whole act of a cat fight; immature and degrading. Maybe it was the way that his father and mother had raised him, but he always thought there was a way to diplomatically solve something. He didn't care if it involved shouting at the top of ones lungs so long as no one received a physical blow, especially a woman. He had seen a few cat fights in his life. He wished he hadn't though. People got rowdy just from watching them, but Leon had always felt a yearn to stop it. The intent to hurt someone in that way was always evident in the two people's eyes that were fighting. He couldn't bare to see it come to that. People were given verbal communication for a reason. He had been a bystander to a few cat fights but in the end, he had always attempted to break it up. He had been successful a few times, but usually the people fighting ended up roughing him up. When they had finally been pulled away, rather than apologize at him, they had spat in his direction, enraged for having been interrupted. The whole ordeal of any type of physical fight was vulgar and uncivilized, but he wouldn't completely count himself out on one of them. He would bet his money that he'd be quick to punch a jerk if they came close to hurting his sisters. All in all, Leon may disapprove of fights but he wouldn't shy away from one if it meant protecting something precious to him. His ongoing current of thoughts was broken when the girl spoke. He paused his thinking to listen, as he always did when he was being spoken to.
An impressed smile curved his lips, Leon would not rob the girl of the clear kudos she deserved. He usually would've gotten something far less well-thought out. It was precisely that answer that she gave him that caused him to be far more interested in this conversation than he had been before. Yes, she was beautiful, but this proved that she was an intellectual too. Not just a pretty face and that alone deserved respect. He did make one quick observation though. She held her ground, it was evident in her eyes. She knew what she was talking about. Had she been a victim of the gossip blog like his cousin? "You make a valid point. Though perhaps it depends on the circumstance. I've seen a girl get into a heated fight with another girl and at the end of it, one of the girls involved had no idea why the girl had begun to attack her. Anger can sometimes boil over when people try to suppress it." He smiled, glad to have someone to talk to, to really talk to. He had been looking for Mira earlier to have a playful chat with her but she had been like some crafty little kid playing hide-n-seek. He was grateful for Adrijana's company though especially since she offered such phenomenal conversation.
The chuckle that escaped his lips would not be missed by her ears, but he had caught her underlying tone when she had told him that she was glad he was not a threat. "You have no idea how true that is though." He smiled and took another drink. When he swallowed, he glanced once more at her, appreciatively. Not only because she was beautiful, but because she did not deny his compliment like so many girls happened to do. It was refreshing. He found himself drawn even more when she mentioned Harvard. "Congratulations. I've heard nothing but great things about Harvard. I'm sorry it took me until now to extend my congratulations. Are the people there friendly enough?" He was genuinely curious, though he hadn't given much thought to his education past Vineheart. He supposed he could blame the throne for that, but really he was slightly more focused on his approaching coronation than anything else. If he had to choose a school though, Harvard was a great choice. It would be rigorous enough to perhaps offer him some sort of challenge that school had failed to give him. "Honestly? I've been doing the same old, same old. Soccer, school, friends and family. I have been enjoying taking walks around the campus recently though. You think you know the whole place but there's always something to discover here." He lifted his eyes to the ceiling and then back down to her. It was odd for him to do, but he had been checking something. "Are you going to be dancing tonight?" He asked, innocently enough, though he did intend to ask her to dance.

While other girls might have stooped to the level of a cat fight like Leena and Aubrey you would never catch Adrijana acting in that way. She was much too smart for that and she did not tend to believe in confrontation that was going to lead to her name being placed on the gossip blog, the gossip blog in itself was degrading and full of misunderstood and misinterpretted information and really she wanted none of it. She was bigger than that and had much bigger issues to worry about like making her father believe that she was destined to be the ruler of Egypt and a proud carrier of his bloodline. She knew that he would have wanted a son and that would have been much easier since there had never been a female ruler but that was too bad here she was and she was ready to fight for the throne so therefore getting herself plastered on the gossip blog was not in her plans to say the least, she had no interest in it at all. All these girls they did not have to convince their families, they had them wrapped around one little finger, her father was the biggest skeptic that she was ever going to have and the least likely person to believe that his daughter was capable of such a feat and sometimes she just wished that he would back down and allow her to prove it but there were other times where she did wonder if she was able to prove it? After hearing that she might not be good enough for so many years knowing that he was intending to rile up the fight in her she might be starting to believe it. But she just knew that there were times where she just needed to take a breather and realize that she was more prepared than most of the others her age and that things were really going to work out. There was something about the enticing way that the smile curved the mans lips when she spoke about being able to settle something behind closed doors and that being a much better way to deal with a problem than to hash it out in painstaking detail in front of the rest of the school. She was not willing to admit that there was a moment where she felt a flicker of interest though, she was off limits and always had been and he was one of her 'best friends' brother and there was no way that there would be any interest there no matter whether he was able to hold a civilized conversation or not, not too many guys around here were too interested in that though and there were not too many times where she felt she could use the sharp witted nature of her personality to her advantage without giving off the vibe that she was going to sleep with the guy because that seemed to be every guys opinion on the matter; they always thought that they were going to be the one to break the unattainable girls rules, they were going to be the game changer and after that happened that they were going to be able to parade around the school, that sickened her and that was yet another reason that she was even more adamant about it not happening besides the fact that it was against the beliefs of her country. She was a Princess right now and not yet a Queen, she had a lot more growing up to do before that day.
For the Queens it was impossible for them to be out of the spotlight so therefore she was always a victim of the gossip blogger as well since she was in that group and therefore she was under the careful watch of the hawk. She was never too involved in the scandals though but the blogger always had a way of making it look ten times worse than it really was. Not that she paid too much attention though since it just rolled off her shoulders for the most part. The ones that lose their cool too often are not the ones that you have to watch for. They are often harmless and burn their bridges long before anything matters, it is the ones that are in the background. Why the hell was she even telling him this? It was obvious that she was one of the ones that she was referring to because everyone knew her as a mastermind of the group, the one that was reserved, calculated and calm and cool yet had enough of a strong personality to step up for her beliefs and never back down, the two seemed to have an agreement though, for once there was not someone battling for control with her, just adding to her comments, that was an unusual feeling. When he complimented her she had learnt from a young age not to brush things like that off, he did not need to go out of his way to tell her that she looked ravishing so therefore she needed to appreciate it and there was even a small smile that touched on the corners of her lips when she uttered thank you to him. Amber eyes were lifted to meet his when he spoke again, eye contact was important since there were going to be so many different influential people that she was going to be talking to when she did take the throne it was better to get into the habit right now. I appreciate it nonetheless, I have always dreamt of attending an ivy league school, where are you planning on studying or are you just going to return to Austria? She did not know why she was asking him but right now she had nothing else to do but have a conversation with him and no one else was gripping her attention she might as well be civil. He asked if the people there were friendly enough and there was a small melodic laugh that left her lips. A little too friendly for my taste. She uttered, she was always a little aloof when it came to social interactions. Ah yes, but it is always foolish to assume that you know a place like the back of your hand, no matter the size there is almost always somthing new it has to offer. She knew that if she took a tour and explored Egypt everyday for the rest of her life that she still would not have seen all it had to offer. Brow rose slightly when he looked up the the ceiling then back down at her wondering what he had been up to, she didn't ask though, never one to pry. He then asked her if she planned on dancing tonight and shoulders were then rolled in a shrug. I suppose that depends. It was a very vague answer and she waited to see how he was going to respond.

IT'S HARD FOR ME TO SAY but I think you've taken my heart away
By now, the thoughts of the gossip blog were relentless. He found it almost as vulgar as a blunt catfight. It found a piece of information; it could be as ridiculous as finding out that one of the soon-to-be queens was eating some chocolate cake. With that, they could easily destroy her self-esteem by making it seem as though it were the only morsel of food she consumed in an entire month. It would degrade her enough to where at some point, she’d begin to question if what the gossip blog was saying was entirely incorrect or if it did hold a shred of truth to it. It didn’t only target girls but for the most part it found more information on the women than the men. The men were usually painted as dirty cheaters or something equally as devious as that. Hate was never a word that Leon liked to use to describe anything but it did rear its ugly head from time to time and the gossip blog was one of the main objects that received his hatred. It just didn’t make sense why other people would attack other people. Weren’t people supposed to try and help others along?
Leon was internally praising himself for not having spilled anything on himself in a clumsy gesture. He was for the most part, composed around men and women alike, but this woman offered such a variety of different traits that simultaneously intrigued and frightened him. She was no doubt a force to be reckoned with. He could easily see how she had been part of the Queens along with his sister. His sister had been a danger, which had been evident to himself who was her family. He could only imagine what happened to those that crossed his sister. She hadn’t been too pure in her years in Vineheart and as a result he had heard much about her around the grapevine when he was a protégé. It wasn’t Leon’s cup of tea though. Don’t get him wrong. He’s a strong man and he has his desires but he also believes that a woman should not be pressured into anything she doesn’t want to do, especially something that could involve her greatest treasure. Yes, yes, he was brought up to treat ladies like fine pieces of china because his mother had made sure he had been her “little gentleman.” It stuck to him. He never ceased to be sweet to girls even when he had no emotional or physical attraction to them. Still, he was quick to hash out any intention of even kissing the girl in front of him. Not only was she his sister’s best friend, but she was also clearly not interested.
His lips curved again, clearly enjoying her conversation and intellectual input. “Ah, that’s true as well. Usually the ones who start a ruckus are also predictable in their actions.” He paused to finish the drink and set his cup down before resuming the conversation, “Though I’m not so sure if all the quiet ones are to be watched like a hawk. I admit that you’re right though.” He bowed playfully and when he stood straight up again, he flashed a grin. Leon couldn’t help breaking from his composed posture from time to time. “You are clearly a genius. I surrender to your wisdom, for now...” There was no mistaking the clear respect and appreciation that he withheld from that simple exchange. To others it might seem extreme of him, but he always thought that first impressions said a lot about a person. In a first impression, the other person knew little to nothing about you therefore they were more prone to be themselves. Once they start to get a feel for whom you are, most tend to act differently around you than they would around someone else. When he was asked about where he would be studying, he thought for a brief moment before answering honestly, “Truth be told, I’m hoping to attend Harvard as well. The only downfall is that my parents both strongly believe that I won’t need to be attending school because I’ll be drowning In new King responsibilities.” He sighed and looked her directly in her amber eyes. “Don’t get me wrong. I’m actually excited about being King, but I do want to experience the world a little more. I’m not sure if that makes sense to you or it just sounds like rambling.” He chuckled, easing comfortably in her presence. Her laugh. He paused and let the sound ring in his ears. It was a pleasant sound and he found himself wishing it had lasted longer. “Too friendly? Meaning that they attach themselves to you like gum because you’re beautiful?” He asked curiously. He had no idea how a person could be too friendly. Was he too friendly? He fought the instinct to ask her.
“I do tend to be foolish. It’s no fun being prim and proper all the time.” He chuckled before adding, “Though I assure you that Austria won’t suffer from my foolishness. I intend to be one hundred percent dedicated and focused on my role as a King.” He smiled brightly, already his mood was significantly better than it had been when he had first come into the place. Unable to suppress it, he arched and eyebrow and asked, “Depends on what exactly? Who is asking, perhaps?” His lips tightened for a bit before curving into his signature smirk, “I’m guessing if I asked you, it’d be out of the question? Being Clara’s annoying little brother and all? If it isn't, however, I'd really be honored if you graced me with a dance.” His tone was laced with amusement, but the question was there. He had asked her to dance, now she could either dance around his question or make him ask her properly, which he would if it came to it. Leon couldn’t deny that he wanted to dance with her now. She was definitely a force to be reckoned with.

Who ever had the idea of the gossip blog in the first place had been a genius because they kept so many peoples attention on the internet and the blasts that were being sent out, it took a huge operation not to be found out after this long and to be so dilligent in the posting of scandals, after all some of the things were things that anyone would have thought were impossible to be made public as of yet and how did the blogger manage to get their hands on it? She had no idea, one thing she always told herself that she would love would be to expose the blogger, to trump them for the one biggest scandal in Vineheart history, who wouldn't want to be the person that managed that stint but she had lost interest in that as she had graduated and was no longer under the influence of the person. She knew that the blogger was harmful after all they targetted peoples weaknesses but really she figured that if the Princes and Princesses here were not able to stand up against that then they were really not going to be too successful as Royalty given that they lived the type of lives that were always under scrutiny and they were always in the public eye, if they could not handle a little attack on their self esteem then what were they going to amount to anyways, more people must just perfect the look that she tended to give off; both untouchable as well as without weakness. The guard that held her emotions captive was rock solid and even though everyone had their weaknesses they were buried so deep within her that they were never going to surface. If anyone managed to penetrate to the soft spot behind this facade of the girls they deserved some sort of recognition because even her friends over the years had not managed it, she was still on guard, always alert around them and ready for the fight or flight instinct to kick in. Really the whole topic of the gossip blog usually just rolled off rigid shoulders she did not have the time to give it too much more thought than that and while she kept tabs on it since it was often the people that she was around that were featured she took no interest in it and tended to not believe a word of the embellished stories, you had to be pretty stupid to believe what they did say. Amber eyes that were an exotic hue not too common settled on him and watched every move that he was making, she was always very observant and she did happen to find him interesting in the least. She did not really know what a lot of people thought of her being best friends with Clara but really none of that mattered because the two 'Queens' could really not be much different than they were. They had the same goals in mind but personality-wise where Clara was hot-headed and quick to temper Ade tended to be cool, dangerous and often the one that you had to watch your back for. She might not verbally express her distaste too often but no actions against her went un noticed.
She nodded when he stated that the ones that started all the rowdy things were the ones that were predictable but then stated that the ones that were quiet were not always the ones to watch and she nodded, she preferred to have them all under her radar so that there were no surprises but he was right, there were some that were just plain dull and interesting as well as push-overs. Those were the type of people that she respected the least, a person needed to have a backbone and the ability to stand on their own two feet for her to even consider them as an allie. He dipped at the waist in her direction and she looked slightly confused, being so serious for so long she really did not know what to make of playful gestures like that so she just stood there with brow raised slightly as he straightened again. He uttered that she was a genius and that he surrendered to wisdom for the time being. Much appreciated. Her tone was lighter than before and there was even a glimmer of a smile toying with her lips. Normally guys did not stop from their egotistical comments for long enough to take much interest in what she had to say so the fact that right now he was being completely respectful was something that caused her to remain standing there when she would have usually long ago made her rounds around the party again. She barely could mask the interest when he stated that he was interested in studying at Harvard as well but that his parents did not tend to think that it was the best for him and that it would be better if he would be back in Austria. There comes a time when parents no longer can rule your life, I look forward to that day. My own made a promise that I could finish a degree at Harvard before taking the throne when I am twenty one. Being the only member of the Egyptian Royal family everyone knew that she was first in line and the only princess that they had, all the more pressure on her. He expressed that he wanted to experience the world a little more before taking on the responsibilites of being King and she nodded. I suppose I can understand that, but just because you will be King does not mean your whole world needs to come to a clattering end. She told him. She was finding that she was almost bordering on being open with him and actually enjoying it, what did that usually mean? That it was time to walk away but there was something holding her back. Gum might be too lenient of a term, the word of a princess attending the school spread, they are more like leeches, for all the wrong reasons, it has nothing to do with me as a person. She uttered gently. She really did not know too much about being anything but proper all the time since she always felt like she was on a job even when she was supposed to be relaxing but she was not going to mention to him that she had no idea at all what it was like to be foolish. I never had doubts in your abilities. Her tone was soft.
She allowed herself the time to formulate the answer to what her answer about dancing with someone would depend on and she glanced upwards to meet his eyes. Something like that, who's asking, and what their intentions by asking are. Too often men seem to assume that dancing is going to lead to other things but I have morals to uphold. She uttered, why was she being honest with him right there? She had basically just given him a large piece of information about herself that not many people knew, she had basically just told him that she was a virgin, what was she thinking? See this was the problem with not walking away when she deemed that she should have. She was possibly one of the only girls graduated from Vineheart that had no slept with someone while at the school but really none of that ever mattered did it? She supposed that he might not gather the information from that comment though so she was still in the clear. He then stated that he guessed that if he was going to ask that she would say no. Give yourself more credit than that, Clara is even more of a handful. She uttered. Hand was offered to him with a coy glance, she did not care who was watching because really Leon was one of the presentable and respectable guys, he was a King of Vineheart and therefore this was appropriate by their standards and even if it wasn't really who was she to even care? A dance was a dance. She did not wait for him before making her way out to the dance floor leading him along with her. While she was not a dancer, at least not officially on the team or anything she was still graceful and it came from many years of attending fancy events.

IT'S HARD FOR ME TO SAY but I think you've taken my heart away
Dancing had already been going on even before Leo had presented the idea to Adrijana. It was a formal event so the dancing was always a wonder to behold. He enjoyed dancing, contrary to popular belief. Ever since he was a young lad and he had been taught how to properly dance in various forms, he had been sure to perfect his dancing just as he had perfected his various mathematical reasoning. He didn't like to do things halfway and always focused on going all the way on something especially when it was important to him. When he helped someone out, he would make sure he helped them out until they no longer required his assistance. This usually meant that he lingered around other people for a while longer than usual to make sure that they were settled and problem-free. Digressing but back to the initial topic, Leo was always eager to dance. He didn't like to reject a girl's proposal to dance and so, he never really did though he preferred to do the asking since he had an old-fashioned set of morals. It was usually the male's responsibility to do the asking and marriage always came before a baby carriage. All right, you caught him. That last part was from a nursery rhyme, but hey, it held all the truth that his mother repeatedly told him. There was no way he was going to take a woman to bed unless he had any serious intention of being with her. Drunk or not, Leo had been firm on this and had made sure that it was always acknowledged. He could be a sweetheart to all the girls but he would not lead them on, at least not purposely. He'd make sure to tell them when he sensed that they were developing feelings for him. It didn't happen often though, girls tended to enjoy his teddy bear ways but would become bored when he didn't offer them the risk of a one night stand. Sorry ladies, but it just wasn't something that could float his boat.
Charcoal colored eyes met her exotic Amber eyes as he refrained from openly chuckling at her puzzlement. His clear break away from his usual composed demeanor had taken her by surprise, just what he had hoped for. He didn't know that she was just not used to playfulness and instead thought that his playful gesture had just been unexpected. Leon had grown up with silly antics and people who had endearingly taunted and teased him so he could not begin to understand that others did not have such a childhood as he had. It would've really have caused him to stop in his tracks if Adrijana would have voiced this.
Leo was well aware that she was also the first in line for the throne, so he knew that they both had certain responsibilities and appearances to uphold. One of those was no doubt that they both had to live up to their parent's expectations. He didn't know her parent's but she did know that she was the only heir to the throne and she was female. Her gender shouldn't matter but he was sure it was always seen as controversial so he respected her more for accepting the challenge and doing her best to fulfill her rightful role. His father and mother were quite lenient at times with him when they showered him with love and affection, but he never missed the gleam in his father's eye. It spoke volumes more than his father cared to give away. He knew that he would have to be a great King and he had just that in mind, he never settled for less so why should he now? He said none of this but smiled appreciatively at her words. "You're right. I have to stop being such a momma's boy and assert that I want to go to Harvard." He was quite serious too. He was going to talk to his parents about this and bargain with them if he could. Twenty-one seemed like a ripe enough age and that offered him ample enough time to not be under constant supervision, though he knew he'd still have to uphold his title. Leo was even more glad to have spoken to her, she had just inspired him to assert his wishes to his parents. If only she knew how revolutionary it was for him to ask for something from his parents. Usually they just offered him something and he would either accept or decline their gifts. Now he would be the one requesting something. He could already picture the crease in his mother's forehead as she tried to figure out why he was asking for something. What had willed him to ask for something anyway and why was it school? His father would understand, he was sure. "No, my life won't be over, but I'll be a little more preoccupied than I am now. My country will be of utmost priority and therefore I'll be less inclined to be at leisure than I am now. I'm trying to enjoy this before I have to put my country first." He smiled, already at ease with the fact that he would take up the throne.
"Leeches. Yum." He smacked his lips jokingly before adding, "I've heard that people can be like that with royals. I'm not sure I've seen it yet. It sounds horrid though. How do you deal with it?" He asked, enticed by her accent and eyes, not to mention her brilliance. His eyes flickered to the dance floor before they met with hers again. He was sure that he would spend the night trying to figure out the color of her eyes. That or he'd end up asking her later, not being one to leave with his curiosity flaring. Her response was something that he had not expected nor have thought any Queen would have ever given him. It was refreshing and set him even more at ease. "I can put your mind at ease. I have no ulterior motives I assure you. I also have a strong set of morals. Ones of which I'm not intending to break." His assurance was soft, his eyes gleaming brightly. "I would just enjoy a dance with you. You've already proven to be an ideal person to talk to." Compliments flowed easily from him to her, she just made it too easy for him to give them to her. If she retorted about it, he would make sure to playfully tease her about that. "You just keep surprising me."
His hand extended to take hers, invitingly as he followed her onto the dance floor, a sly smirk greeting her coy glance in his direction. Immediately, he took the lead and began to dance with the beauty. It was a slow song and the movements were languid but no less graceful. His lips graced a smile as he looked down upon her, his eyes never leaving her eyes. The music's rhythm was easy to follow. He focused his attention on identifying the color of her eyes and finally, unable to do so, he asked curiously, "What color are your eyes? I'm trying to figure it out, but they keep changing on me." He pouted playfully as he lead her on the dance floor, never once letting it cross his mind that he was dancing with Adrijana and that those around him might find it quite unusual. He hardly ever stopped to think what others thought about him unless he was in his own country, in which case he made sure to make a remarkable impression. For now, he was enjoying relaxing and being in the company of such a woman.

There was a lot of dancing going on around them after all that was what seemed to ease the boredom of the rest of the students and a lot of it was followed by the girls getting dragged up to whatever dorm room their partner had been, it was to ridden by hormones, hormones that she knew that she had as well but in her calm and collected persona she did manage to carry a good bluff. Pretend like she was not affected by the same thing that every other girl her age was. Unlike a lot of the others though she was not compelled by the feeling of needing to be with someone for the sake of not being alone. Ade was better off alone where she did not have to worry about the well being of someone else. She was better of fighting her case alone because guys were just a distraction to her and unless they were going to be taking the throne of Egypt with her they were a waste of time, and none of them would be doing that, she was convinced that she was not only going to be the first princess to become a Queen of the country but she was going to do it solo. Her parents were not involved in the arranged marriages like the rest of the countries and even though parts of their beliefs and the origin of their religion were considered to be very archaic at least they had become modern enough to realize that marrying their daughter off the first chance they got was not the best idea. They knew that it was something that Ade would fight with every ounce of her being and right now it was better for them to remain on good terms, the time for her to take the throne was getting closer and every birthday of hers she was reminded of it. In fact she did wince in thinking that her birthday was just around the corner. With a small sigh that was completely inaudible she looked back up at Leon realizing that she had been zoning herself out. She was supposed to be standing there and talking to him and she realized that it was really not fair for her mind to be wandering as much as it had been right then and there. His eyes almost seemed to carry a steely texture, not something that she could say about a lot of people and for a moment her eyes remained there, never backing down from eye contact and the contact causing her to become quite aware of the hue of his eyes. There was a sharp tone to her voice when she had told him that there was a time where he needed to stand up for himself and stop listening to his parents requests and she thought that he might get offended by it but it was quite the opposite as he agreed with her stating that he needed to stop being such a momma's boy and doing what he wanted. There were some times where she really would have loved to be close enough with her family to be considered something like that but there was always a cold feeling that passed through the family. There were no family hugs, no deep family talks and she was just like everyone else in wondering what it would be like if it were different, it was just human nature to be curious but she knew that the hostile nature of her family really did cause her to be a lot tougher than a lot of other girls that were around.
She nodded when he stated that when he took the throne that his life was not going to be over but that the country was going to always come first and that was just a given that all of them were raised to understand. A lot of the rest of the population thought that they had it so easy and in a lot of ways they did but never did the rest of the citizens have to worry about the mass amount of people that they had to think about every day of ruling. She did not balk at the thought of it though and knew that she was ready to take it on on her own. She would be silly if she was not a little hesitant and a little nervous but she did not show it at all. In order to instill confidence in people she needed to make sure that she was looking emotionless and completely confident herself. Understandable. She uttered with a small nod finding herself at a loss of words, she seemed to have used them all up previously with the witty banter that carried between the two of them. He asked her how she dealt with some of he people at Harvard being leeches and she shrugged lightly. The same way I deal with most people, by brushing them off. They lose interest fast after all, their attention spans are not very long. It might sound like she was being offensive but really she was just speaking the truth about the situation and the fact that as soon as she did manage to reject one of them they lost confidence and sought out company elsewhere when they realized that they were not going to get in the princesses' pants. She was feeling slightly flushed at even the thought that she had stated that she had morals that told her that she should not dance with too many partners at the dances that were put on by the school and really the answer that he had a strong set of morals as well did not tend to put her mind at ease because it just reminded her again what she had said, it had been silly of her and she could feel herself starting to retract from him but there was nothing to do about that since it was just the way that she had always been, get close enough to someone to have a decent conversation that she was actually enjoying and then run the moment that they looked the other way and she was already plotting her escape long before they even made it to the dance floor with her remaining silent about what he had just told her. The compliments tended to flow easily from his lips and most guys would have gotten a taste of her mind right then but there was something genuine about the way that he was saying them where she did not have the heart to bark some sort of comment at him. Thanks. She uttered softly. She then raised a brow when he told her that she kept surprising him. Because I agreed to dance? She asked.
There was something intimate about dancing even if you did not intend for there to be so when she was led to the dance floor the entire time she was debating if it had been a mistake and whether she should have just told him that she was not feeling well and made her escape but no here she was captivated by the skills of a partner that was quite coherent in dance, possibly even better than she was herself and mimicking the moves that he led with, able to keep up to him with ease. It was slow so movements were slow and graceful and there was a lot of time left for the fact that she seemed to be meeting his eyes, all the while telling herself that she should not be there in the first place right now and that she should have long since excused herself so that he did not get the wrong impression because at the end of the day he was Clara's brother even if she found the conversation enticing and there were really not too many people that she could say the same about, perhaps if more people were a little like him then it would change her mind about people but she was not about to venture with that sort of a statement. She almost completely stopped dancing when he then asked her what color her eyes were and she bit her bottom lip. A shade of brown. She uttered but she knew that it was not a good enough and bland enough retort. My mother calls them amber but who really knows. She uttered with a shrug. The rest of the dance she was silent and thankful for the silence because that question had almost caused her to blush and that would be something that would be completely out of place on the confident girls face. When the song did end it gave her a perfect opportunity. While she did not want to stop dancing with him she knew that in order to keep her sanity that she was going to need to, before she did something she regretted like spilling something close to a secret to him after all she did feel like he was someone that would listen. Thank you for the dance. She uttered politely, while she might be blunt at least she did have manners. I.. I have to go. There was a small falter in her voice before she could even stop it. Cursing below her breath she turned away from him long before the expression on her face could be analyzed and just as easily as she had walked up to him in the first place she wound her way back through the crowd.

IT'S HARD FOR ME TO SAY but I think you've taken my heart away
Amber; that was an appropriate word to describe the girl's eyes. He had been debating between two different shades, but it seemed her gown had tricked him. He was always amazed how a certain color could offset the color of someone's eyes. She didn't seem to be too eager to talk about her eyes though. Why was it? No doubt she had had her fair share of conversations with boys who were trying to get a home run. She had been skeptical about dancing with him for that very reason. He wasn't going to push her in that direction, especially when he now knew that she had strong ideals. He was pleased to know that they matched his perfectly. Wait a second...
Stop. He mentally beat himself up for allowing his mind to travel that far. This is what happened when Leon became entranced with a girl. It was particularly hard to snap out of this mentality since he was such a hopeless romantic in the sense that he did like the feeling that came with flirting and becoming closer to a person. There were many times when he was rejected because he was just this type of person. He had seen what it was like to be the nice guy and always be turned down because girls wanted a thrill. He always found it infuriating to be constantly friend-zoned, but he learned not to mind, besides as long as the other person was content, then eventually so was he. Leon forced himself to focus on the dance at hand especially since it had become a bit clearer that she wasn't interested. Right? He didn't want to answer that question just at that moment, but the facts were clear and since his mind never rested, it began to lay them out for him. First, she was his sister's best friend. Second, she was older. Third, er.. he was sure there was a third reason.
The dance was intimate. There was no denying that much. His arms rested against her softly as he guided her through the throng of dancing students. They were in perfect synchronization after a bit. It took them a few seconds to adapt to the others movements, but they did so quickly, like true royalty should when dancing. He liked it. Just as the song was nearing it's end, he was mentally preparing to ask her to dance again. The second dance would no doubt bring them a bit closer and although there was no chance of anything ever happening between the two of them, he could still cling to the hope of one more dance with her and her lovely amber eyes. The song ended. She pulled herself away from him so quickly that he didn't even have a chance to frown, but there was the unmistakable surprise in his coal eyes. "You're welcome. Thank you as well for dancing with me." He managed to tag on before she completely left. He had never seen a girl disappear so quickly from him. Leon was observant and had not missed her falter. It was something that confounded him all that much more. If she had faltered when she was leaving, then that had to mean that she had not wanted to leave immediately. There had to be a reason for her quick leave. He came to the startling realization that he might be really terrible at dancing. Reason three. Thank you mind. Leon realized he was standing amidst the students with no dancing partner. There were a few stares directed in his direction. His little abandonment had not gone amiss with the students. Act cool. Just walk away. Do it with style. He flashed a sheepish grin and stepped out of the dance floor and over to get himself some water while he began to muse about the beauty's sudden leave. Had it been his dancing or had he imagined the intimacy that had been sparking between the two? Perhaps he did. As he finished getting his fill of water, he decided to drop it. It was one conversation and one dance. It meant nothing for her and so it should mean nothing to him, no matter how intriguing she had been. They would resume being acquaintances. He'd learn to live with that.
