Crisp, clean air with a kick to it. That was the perfect way to describe the morning as Deme felt for the temperature out the window. It was definitely jacket weather which made Deme a little sad. She was ready for it to be warm again. As much as she loved being out in nature, it was much more enjoyable when she wasn’t shivering. Plus the gardens were always prettier in the spring. She let out a sigh and went to her closet to pull out one of her many leather jackets. At least it’s the weekend. It meant she was free to wear pants and not a skirt or a dress. She rolled her eyes at the frilly things that hung in her closet. The one thing she hated about being royalty was the whole having to look nice for the public thing. She closed the closet door and turned her back to it. It was best to shove the whole wardrobe thing out of her mind.
Deme’s eyes turned to her bed. Both her book and her notebook were sitting there. She tossed the idea around of which to take. She ended up grabbing her notebook and shoving it into her backpack along with a pen. She was going to finish the story she had started a few weeks ago along with the picture she had been doodling. She contemplated grabbing a pencil to do the drawing in first and then go over it in pen after, but decided not to. No one was up this early on a weekend morning anyways. Even her roommates were sound asleep and they all seemed to be pretty early risers.
Deme slinked through the room’s door, careful not to wake her roommates or her servant. If she woke her servant they would just want to come along with her and for now she just wanted time alone to pretend she wasn’t royalty, even if she was at a school for only royals and their servants. She made her way down the stairs and out the back door towards the gardens. The cold hit her like a ton of bricks. It was a lot colder than it had felt when she had stretched her hand through the window. She pulled her jacked closer to her body and trudged on until she reached her bench. She wiped the snow off of the bench and sat down. She crossed her legs up onto the bench and set her backpack next to her, reaching inside for her notebook and pen. She opened it up to the last page she had written on and stared at it for what seemed like an eternity. Nothing was coming to her mind so instead she flipped to her drawing. Soon she was in a trance making pen strokes across the page and letting the silence engulf her. It would take something big to wake her from this spell
