Personality
CANDID unfortunately for everyone else, soren embodies the term 'candid' no matter which meaning you take. he's always been a very open person, willing to accept the ideas and lives of others for what they were without prejudice or malice, but he always has, or well lacks, a filter. whatever he thinks usually comes out of his mouth and while some people may deem his honesty a blessing, as he's always sincere and what he says is almost entirely free of deception at all times, others may take this as a curse. blind and spontaneous, it's difficult to predict what he'll do or say next, and usually, it's not something flattering. he's rather sarcastic, seeing as he can't help himself most of the time and quite a bit of what comes out of his mouth isn't nice. cruel and dry, he's not the type to beat around the bush, ever. especially if he he doesn't like you, you'll certainly know it before everyone on the grapevine. he's quick with his tongue and just as quick thinking on his feet, able to make a decision in seconds flat. and it's usually a good one, so you can rely on him. sor just wouldn't be the person you should chose if you want your deepest, darkest secrets to remain that; secrets. he won't mean to blab, but it's a risk you're taking by telling him things.
REALISTIC although quite a few people his age liked to believe they knew everything and owned the world, which a part of the students of vineheart did in fact own large chunks of it, soren never let himself fall into that trap. he had never believed in fairy tales and dreams, believing that people should live more in the 'now' than anything, and not in the 'what ifs' of the world. he's not necessarily out to crush your dreams or anything, no, he's just much more realistic than most people. he doesn't believe the in the 'glass half empty/full' thing, to him, it's just a glass of water. sure he has ambitions and goals like everyone else, but his aren't ridiculous and impossible to obtain. he's much too practical for that. everything he does has a use, and he's not going to go and spend time on something useless, whether it's a task or a person. he doesn't like to waste his time and would rather get things done right away than leave them to linger. same goes for other things too. if he has a problem or anything that needs fixing, he's more liable to get it done straight away and deal with it rather than let it fester and escalate.
JOVIAL despite being generally sarcastic and cruel, not to mention realistic and hard to please, soren is actually a rather happy person. although you may not see it at first, as he rarely priveleges others to join in, he's quite the jokester and loves to laugh. he'll be the first to make one of those horrible "that's what she said" jokes at an inappropriate time or crack a few at the expense of a teacher to lighten up a heavy mood in class. granted, there is a time and place for everything, so he's still rather serious at most times, and intimidatingly so, but to those that are closest to him, his sarcasm and bitter wit offer endless hours of entertainment. he'd never deny fun or an opportunity for adventure when it was staring him straight in the face, and he'd never be able to give up a good party, no matter how much homework he'd have to do the next day to catch up. but everything in moderation of course... kinda... he's generally just a happy person, always a small smile on his face, hardly ever angry or sad.
Who I Once Was

Parents King Kari (deceased) and Queen Leena of Ireland
Siblings a younger brother and sister
Cousins Ireland and the Netherlands
History being born the eldest into any family wasn't the easiest thing in the world, much less a royal family when from the moment you came out of the womb, all the responsibility in the world was thrust upon your shoulders. while soren's parents were well aware that their first son and first born would one day become king, they tried not to let that influence him upbringing all that much. he was allowed to play and goof around like normal children, just to a different extent. he was always watched carefully and was only permitted to do what he wanted after his tutors all left; they kept the same schedule as local schools, and once his two siblings were born, they joined soren too. they would wake up in the morning, get ready, dressed and fed, and then relocate to the library of the palace to begin the day's instruction. his parents were fans of structure and routine, and they certainly handed that down to their son.
very few things impressed soren, even when he was little. after all, he'd seen much of the world in his young years and didn't think there was much that was more spectacular than everything that he had already seen. he lived in a palace for goodness sake, nothing seemed incredible after growing up in one of those. the things that did make it through -football, music, reading- were much more individual than they were communal. not to say that soren didn't like people or being around them, he was just educated in the fact that he had to do most things on his own if he wanted them to be done right. and not to mention that his younger siblings had always been in a fairly different environnement than he, with less pressure and demands. no, he was always just as content being alone as he was around other people. a commendable trait when one spent the majority of the day immersed in books and worksheets that the other two at the table wouldn't understand for another few years.
vineheart, on the other hand, offered him a sort of reprieve from his isolation. the school was full of people like him, in the same situation and it wasn't hard to find a group of people he could identify with. not to say that he spent all his free time with them, but it was nice to have people to turn to, who understood, every once in a while. he wasn't extremely popular, but that suited him just fine. the idea of having to be well-known to be successful in school made no sense to him and soren was content with the friends and grades he had. he had always done rather well, managing to balance school and sports fairly well along with his music, until third year came rolling along and his father died in a rather mysterious car accident. since then, soren's had quite a lot on his plate between school and graduation, watching over his younger siblings and trying to help his mother run the country, though unofficially. he isn't allowed to formally claim the throne until he turns twenty-one.
