Ever since discussing with Will the prospect of them being best friends, their whole friendship had changed. Margherita had not been anywhere near as hateful towards him as before; if anything, she was actually beginning to warm up to him. Lately, though, she had been fighting a different set of feelings for the guy who had been her tutor for the school year. He was a year ahead of her, and she knew he would be graduating; what exactly was she afraid of? Their friendship had been rocky, to say the least, but they had been on a pleasant plateau since arriving back from winter break. That time spent apart in their relative countries had done a world of good for the two of them, although she would have been lying to say she hadn’t missed seeing him most afternoons for study sessions. Once school resumed, however, they were back to spending just as much time together as before, and it was like nothing had changed. A shift in Margherita’s late nights had begun to emerge – she wasn’t staying out partying all the time, like she had spent doing almost every night of her first semester at Vineheart. One such night had even resulted in Will coming to pick her up because she had been completely plastered, and for some reason he had gotten through to her that night. The spring carnival was a highly anticipated event and she had dressed accordingly. Adorning her coveted Chanel all over (accessory wise), she had hand-picked her outfit easily from her wardrobe before showering to get the stench of tennis practice off of her body. Yesterday afternoon, before her tutoring session with Will, she had set in on him swimming before attending to her own work out needs. They had talked about the upcoming carnival a couple of weeks back, and she had suggested they go together to enjoy the festivities. After all, the end of the school year was quickly approaching and she wouldn’t be able to spend a lot of time with him once he went off to university with Gabi. She didn’t even know if they were sure where they were going yet, but she hated pushing the issue and thinking about it because it just meant they were one step closer to being apart and Margherita didn’t want to lose her tutor. Making her way downstairs, she stopped at the entrance to the building to wait for Will at their designated place. Pulling out her cell phone, she thumbed through her messages to make sure there were none she needed to respond too.

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Things had been a bit weird since the return from winter break. He and Margherita were getting along pretty well. Which when you thought about it was a miracle on its own because they were usually about ready to strangle one another. But she hadn’t had as much attitude towards him as she had in the past, and they were really evolving into friends. Not that he had completely ignored those other lingering feelings that were there in the back of his mind. Because well he was a male, and well he knew that she was a very attractive person. Not that he thought he’d actually ever have a chance with her, she seemed like the type to fall for one of the prince charming types. Because that seemed to be a rather popular pattern lately, so it honestly wouldn’t have surprised him. Either way things were much better now to the point where they spent time together even when they weren’t technically doing tutoring sessions Even though her grades had improved considerably and he wasn’t as necessary anymore, she still kept on coming to him when she had issues in her schoolwork. There even hadn’t been a repeat of that late night pick up from earlier in the year. He still remembered that night very vividly because of her actions that night and then how conflicting they had been afterwards. But he brushed the thoughts away as he toweled off after his shower.
The school carnival was set to be today, and that’s what everyone was all excited about. He liked the idea of getting on the rides, and playing the games because he had only been to a carnival about three or four times in his life. After all he had spent most of his early life in the palace or in the shop, so it wasn’t like he had a lot of time for carnivals. But there were times when his parents would take the day off, and the three of them would head off to the carnival. So it seemed like a good idea to hold for the royals. Once he finished getting dressed, he checked on the girls to make sure everything was all right before he made his way down towards the exit of the building. After all the carnival was being held on the front lawn, probably the most ideal of places given it’s largeness, and most of the school was taking the front exit. So he knew it was a smarter move to just head out the back and go around the building. Sure it involved a little bit more walking, but the day was nice enough that it would be acceptable to walk a little more than was necessary. He and Margherita had agreed on a particular spot near the entrance of the carnival, and already he could make out her form in the distance. She seemed to be checking her phone, so he wasn’t sure if it was a good thing to interrupt. Deciding that it would be kind of funny to scare her, well hopefully it didn’t earn him a smack on the head, because he heard some girls liked to do that. He crept up behind her, and placed his hands over her eyes.
“Guess who” he said quietly.

Tennis had taken up a great deal of her time during the spring semester, whereas keeping herself in shape and conditioning had been the main point of fall semester. Cathleen and Margherita had practiced with each other once a week, at least, during the fall and now they found themselves on the same team, competing for Vineheart. The relationship they had was one of friendship, but ultimately Margherita knew that she was Cathleen’s servant – but one thing she admired about Cath was that she never treated her as an inferior. From what she knew of Will and Gabi’s relationship, Margherita knew that Will felt the same about Gabi as she did about Cath. Their loyalty was steadfast, and that was something that would always come first. Even Cath could see the change that had been passing through Margherita, and luckily the subject had not been approached, but she knew that ultimately it was Will that had gotten through to her. He made her want to be a better person, and she had begun regressing back to the student and girl she had been before the move to Ireland from Italy. In her mind, Will would never have even looked twice at her. He was brilliant and adorable and one of the sweetest guys she had ever known. Even when she had been as nasty as she could be to him, there he still was – the same Will. She knew that she was attractive, but guys had not exactly been on her grid since attending Vineheart – she had been having too much fun partying and enjoying her new surroundings. Of course, she had had the occasional fling and she did have a friends with benefits relationship with a couple of people, but ever since returning from Christmas break, Will had been the only guy on her mind. The school carnival seemed to be a highly anticipated event by all of the upper classmen, and since it was her first year at the school (even though she was a fourth year) the excitement was spreading like wildfire. Her brothers had taken her to a few carnivals over the years, but nothing compared to what this was shaping out to be. It was set up on the front lawn, which on campus was the best place to hold something like a carnival considering it was a rather large open space. Since she had only been a servant for the better part of a year, she had been afforded the opportunity to do other things outside of a palace. She was not even sure how the summer would go, since it would be her first time with Cathleen in the Irish royal family’s employment. Over winter break, she had been able to spend most of it with her family – only returning to the palace to help Cathleen get settled back in from school for the holiday, and again to get ready to return to Montana. She had gotten pretty settled as she waited for Will, and as he snuck up behind her, she heard his familiar voice and jumped a little bit, surprised. ”Has to be my best friend, Will?” She asked softly, her cheeks flushing a little. He was not exactly unattractive and the closer they got to one another, the less she could deny her growing feelings for her tutor.
