It was spring time and the snow in Montana was finally starting to melt and give way to flowers and green grass, which always made the students more pleasant since they could be outside or whatever. Except for Dirtan, who was stuck in the library with his baby sitter for most of the school nights and on the weekends they just stayed in. On the weekends Dirtan would just sit with Heidi and watch a movie or do something like playing video games while Heidi was working on something. His friends had all sort of disappeared from his life and left him alone with Heidi, which he didn’t really mind since he was enjoying his final weeks with her. In his mind he was scared and fearful of losing her but he was respecting her wishes by not asking or begging her to stay with him right now. Actually he had been as well behaved as he could be and was putting on some weight because of the breakfasts that she made him. Not much weight, probably like 5 pounds, but he was giving into the idea of being active or doing something once the weather was nice. Maybe he would try horseback riding since that was something he often did as a child. Either way it didn’t matter since he was getting ready for college and for loosing Heidi because she wanted to become normal. Personally he thought that being normal was stupid when someone was offering to pay all of your tuition but for fear of getting hit and getting her angry he avoided the topic like the plague. Still everyone could tell that he was getting anxious as graduation approached and most assumed it was due to his marriage or the fact that he lost his crown and the announcement would be happening around Easter. Dirtan just needed a break or something and drinking/random hook ups were out of the question so he needed a new form of amusement.
His great idea came when he was walking down a hall and noticed the sign for the spring carnival that was happening that weekend. Of course! It was a brilliant idea! Him and Heidi would go there and actually do something on a Friday night instead of a movie, studying, and the other stuff they normally did. Plus he would get her out of the room for a bit. So when Friday night rolled around Dirtan slipped on his jeans and a sweatshirt before running down to the common room that he shared with his roommates and servants. ”HEIDI… I have a wonderful idea!” He yelled and got nothing but the sound of silence at first. ”Heidi…. Where are you? You can’t hide from me.” He said as he walked over to her door and jiggled the knob for a moment. Locked! So he slipped his hand into his pocket and searched for something that he could use to pry open the door. In his pockets were his wallet, a rubber band, a paperclip, and his cellphone. The paperclip must work! He unfolded the metal and the slipped it into the key opening and wiggled it about. The door clicked and finally the knob gave way so Dirtan pushed the door wide open.
”Heidi! I found us something to do tonight. Let’s go the spring carnival. “ There was no care for her current state as he entered into her bedroom. Part of him thought that she was lucky to have gotten a room entirely to herself since there were no other female servants. It was funny that most people got the same gender as their servant but he assumed that was to prevent sex and scandals. His hands rested on his hips as he turned to face Heidi when she finally made her presence known to him. ”No objects… let’s go have some fun for once on a Friday night.” Now he braced himself to be hit since that was the normal pattern in their relationship.

Heidi was depressed. Her life had slowly turned into a mess and her annoying boss – Dritan literally had nothing to do with that mess this time. He was no longer a partier and a jerk as he used to be in the past so it was definitely a good thing, maybe the best thing had ever happened in her life. Despite having quite a lot of time to study, Heidi could not understand why her most recent test was painfully underestimated by the cruel teacher who had just given her a B minus in that morning. She even planned to go to the Carnival after receiving a good grade for her effort and now her plan merely popped like bubbles in the bath. The final examination was coming and she should have beenmorethan ready now for it but a low grade was obviously not the sign of the readiness. The cold and bitter wind of winter was slightly changing day by day into the bright and warm sunlight of spring but through the eyes of a loser, the servant only saw gloomy fog and mist cover the area of Vineheart academy. Heidi crawled into her bed and curled up in the blanket, still wearing her jeans and shirt. A blank look on her face was all what was reflected in the mirror opposite to her bed. The heaviness laid on her heart was so overbearing as if getting a low grade was the end of the world to her. She could have suicide if she had not thought of her duty and responsibility of a servant to the Albanian prince. Optimistic thoughts were created in her head so as to calm down before she could run towards the wall and beat her head against it to hide from this shame of life. Maybe she was simply unlucky and losing this time was the motivation for her keep moving forward instead of giving up and blaming herself. But it could also be a sign of a slowdown in her study and it might be a warning from God that she was about to lose everything. A frown showed up on her worried face and she quickly beat her head against the soft pillow.
A sudden yell of a very familiar voice woke her up from her disappointment. Heidi immediately recognized her name was being called from outside her room by Dritan. Scary it was when he yelled her name, she still did not make any movement out of the bed. Now she did not want to do anything except lying in her room and cursing herself for accidentally bringing her future into the danger. Her mind kept telling her that she was overreacting but the guilt was a greater matter to the girl at the time.“Go away, Dritan!” She yelled back weakly in response, hoping that he would stop looking for her, no matter what his purpose was. Nonetheless, her voice did not seem to be okay enough to make him hear from such a far distance and at last her room was broken in right away after her words were finished. Heidi jumped out of her bed with the blanket wrapped around her body. An angry stare of her hazel eyes were directly shown without hesitation. She thought she was about to yell at him when he offered her to go to the Carnival with him as she was deeply in a bad mood. Nevertheless, the very last patience was still kept carefully because he technically did not have anything to do with her new issue. Honestly, she wanted to break something and yell at somebody so much, maybe even slap someone on the face as well, but conscience never allowed her to hurt the innocent Dritan’s feelings though he seemed to be rather ready to be slapped or hit. Heidi let herself fall down on the bed again while staring at the ceiling. “Objection! No mood for going out. You’d better go away before I lose my last patience. I really want to break something now and it could be your face if you dare to piss me off today.” She hissed angrily.“You’re free! Go and find any girl you like and you needn’t ask for my permission if you want to stay over their place for tonight.” Heidi quickly kept silent again since she started to realize how stupid she was to say such thing to such man like her boss. The pulled the blanket over her head and released a small sigh. It would be fun at the Carnival but she had no muse for it now though she would like to go there some times. Plus, this would be the last year of hers in this academy and every event in this year should be memorable. But in this case, she was not so sure she wanted to remember today.

At least his life was finally starting to fall into place again. He knew that after he graduated from Vineheart he would attend college for four years and then do something afterwards. What? He would probably do as every son of a senator or political figure head did... join the military. It was funny that he just went from extremes... a party boy to a college bound man to the best general that Albania had ever seen! Or at least he hoped but he knew that his parents would disapprove of his military idea since they knew that Dritan was not cut out for it. Eventually they would just give him some title and send him on his way so they could focus on his sister. At least college had the promise to be amusing assuming that Heidi had taught him well enough how to study or else he would just flunk out. Schooling was like pulling teeth for Dritan and Heidi knew that but she saw and appricated his change. Without saying a word he knew that she appriciated his change and she secretly loved her knew boss. Well in his own mind he knew that she loved Dritan. He was a hard person to not love! His arranged marriage didn't love him anymore but she had loved him as a friend at some point when they were children.
As he approached the dorm room of Heidi he heard her yelling to go away and Dritan took that more as an invite to go right ahead and annoy her further. See the words no and go away ever really registared with Dritan. She was going to have a good time tonight and he was going to make sure of it. So when she jumped up from her bed and gave him that evil glare he just shurgged it off as Heidi being Heidi. Then she yelled at him and he just laughed at her. "But the only girl I want is right here laying in bed and moping about. And the only place that I want to stay is in my own bed since you never let me stay in yours." He replied.
His next move was going to get him hit for sure but he still proceeded on with his plan. Quickly he pulled the blanket back from her body and tossed it on the floor where it could not be grabbed quickly. Then he picked Heidi up in the typical groom carrying the bride move before quickly tossing her over his shoulder. He was not strong but she was very small and very light so throwing her over his shoulder had been easy minus the struggling that she gave. "Sorry my dear but I will not let you mope in the bed all night... you and I are going to the Carnival even if I have to carry you all the way there." He threatened in a jokinly manner since he would not really threaten her.
One hand rested on her back so if she did struggle too much he wouldn't drop her. He would definately get hit if he dropped her. A huge grin on his face as he took a few steps towards the door and towards the carnival. "Stop struggleing or I might drop you. Fighting is futile! We are going and you can't stop me" His words were accompanied by an evil manical laugh.

That Dritan broke into her room without asking for permission or even knocking on the door was quite irritating to her as she believed her little privacy was no longer existed in his eyes. Nevertheless, she still stayed calm instead of slapping or yelling at him as usual when he did such thing. She was not in the mood for that; actually she was not in the mood for anything today. The terrible grade affected her so much literally and the only thing she wished to do was jumping off a bridge right then so as to escape from the shame of life. It seemed like her effort was worthless. She swore that she had tried her best on the assignment and she would not accept anything except for an A from the teacher. Dritan showed no sign of agreement after she had told him to go away. Well she had been used to it as Dritan was merely being Dritan – stubborn and annoying. She pulled the blanket over her head again and ignored everything he said about her. If his words were to court her then it was his bad day as she was extremely annoyed. He never had a long relationship with any girl and Heidi could tell that he said the same thing to every girl he had his eyes on. Everything always began with some sweet words and then ended up in the bed. She understood that he had changed and was trying to behave but she could not help but get angry. If he left her room right now and went to the Carnival, he would not have to waste much time on looking for another girl who was even prettier than her to hang out with for the rest of the day. Furthermore, she was moping in the bed and it was none of his business. He did not need to care whether she was alive or dead. “If you know I will never let you stay in my bed so get out of my room. You don’t like to be bitten by me, do you?” She yelled. It felt very nice to yell at somebody when she was upset. Hopefully her boss would lose his patience and leave her alone. She would meet plenty of her classmates at the Carnival and that fact did not help the situation get any better than this. She would rather die in her room than be laughed at. As the silence remained, Heidi felt a bit of peace of mind since she thought Dritan had left. When she was about to throw the blanket away, a hand had grabbed it before she could do anything and quickly tossed it on the floor. She could not hold back a scream. “What are you doing? Leave me alone! Go away, Dritan!” She yelled and hit him crazily as he picked her up. He did it easily as if she was as light as a kitty. She kept struggling but it was no use when his arms were blocking hers. “This is so embarrassing! I’m going to sue you unless you put me down!” She threatened though she was technically very scared. She always burst into tears when he tossed her over his shoulder. He was not listening to a thing that she was saying.
She could felt his hand on her back when she punched his back frantically so as to resist. She knew he was a weird one but she had never believed that he could be this weird until now. Didn’t he care a thing about his pride or that his action would embarrass him? No prince would do the same thing to his servant but Dritan. She knew that he cared about her very much; though she was very upset, she had to admit that what he was doing made she feel a little bit better as she saw that there was at least one person cared about her. Nonetheless, she would not give up resisting until he put her down. “I’d rather fall down and hit my face to the floor than be carried to the Carnival like this. If you don’t think this would affect your reputation then I do! Are you listening?” She hissed fiercely. She hated that he was right: she could not stop him. After a while struggling like crazy, she ran out of energy and there was nothing else that she could do beside letting him carry her out. Maybe after the day, she would never show up at school again. Probably she should run away and get back to Albania as the precious prince had ruined her reputation successfully. If her aunt knew what happened, she would be overjoyed because she always thought Heidi and Dritan would make a great couple, despite their very different position in the society. “Why are you doing this to me?” she whispered quietly. “You’ve been quite weird lately. Never before have you done such thing to me.” She began to question him. “Do you really take the whole ‘courting’ thing serious?” She was worried that he would be serious about beginning a relationship with her. No matter what he did, she would still leave him for college. They could never be together and they were so different as well. At first when he said that he would court her, she thought it was only a joke as she knew him like the back of her hand. But she had to reconsider it now. Everything that he did annoyed Heidi in some way so Dritan had learned to live with her being annoyed at him a long time ago. Afterall they had been paired together since they were 10 years old which meant that they had been together for almost 8 full years. If she hadn't learn to deal with him by now then she would never learn and Dritan accepted his fate with her. Yes he loved her and wanted her to give him a chance but after 8 years of washing his underwear he knew why Heidi was reluctant. Hell any woman would be reluctant with his track record of one night stands and flings, so he needed someone to look past all of his mistakes. Still the way that her face turned red when she was yelling at him made him swoon like a little schoolgirl and she would never see that. Heidi would never see Dritan in the swooning light but he hoped to change her mind and do it before she left him in August.
After picking her up he felt her punches and struggles to get free but he held fast since he didn't want to drop her. The feeling of embarassment never really phased him since he was going to be a king and kings made mistakes. Mistakes were a huge part of him and a part that he accepted and embraced unlike Heidi. "Yes I am listening to you... I always listen to you but rarely do I take your advice." He replied as he made his way out into the hallway. No one was around to watch the event of Dritan carrying around his servant and by the way Heidi stopped sturggling he knew that he had either won or upset her. The tone of her voice gave him the impression of upset so he stopped walking. "Calm down Heidi... I just wanted to get you out of the room. I wasn't really going to carry you all of the way." He said and then set her down on her feet in front of him. "But we are still going and I am going to show you a good time this evening."
A big smile light up his entire face as he stood there looking down at his servant. There was something exciting that he had to tell her and he had been keeping it a secret until now. Now he was about to burst if he didn't share with her the wonderful news. "Heidi... my parents gave me the crown back!" He told her. His voice was high with energy and excitment since he had always wanted his crown back. Now in a few short weeks he would be king of his country and probably married unless he could get out of that. But small details, like his arranged marriage, were not on his mind at the moment. "I will be King and I want you to be my Queen." He added real quick. "I will always court you and only you and I will never marry unless it is you."
His words were sincere. He wanted her by his side as his Queen when he was ruling the country but he knew she would resist him for as long as possible. Besides he didn't even have an engagement ring for her so it was only right for her to resist him right now. "So we are going to the carnival as a celebration of my crown and of your B minus." She needed to embrace and accept her small mistakes. Dritan had made plenty of them but no more. He knew what he wanted now and nothing would stop him from getting it. "Now lets go..." He said and lead the way down the hall. This time he didn't pick her up since it upset her so much last time.

Honestly, no sooner did Dritan say that he would never take her advice than Heidi started to feel like pinching his cheeks again – very hard this time. It was not the first time she got furious about his stubbornness; however, she still could not manage to cope with it due to some mysterious undiscovered reasons. She wanted to hit him again but all the struggling had wore her out. The only thing she could do was swallowing the anger so as not to bite him. Heidi noticed that she had been carried to the hallway already and she started to get nervous. She was not ready to be laughed at for the rest of her life and she surely would move to the North Pole if anybody saw this scene. Luckily, the whole hallway was clear; it seemed like the carnival had done a great job in attracting people. However, she did not intend to stop yelling at him at all and her voice started to be raised then accidentally became a hiss of anger. Suddenly, the servant felt Dritan’s arms around her and a minute later she was set on the ground, in front of him. They were literally face to face and certainly there was nothing to prevent him from seeing the frustration in her eyes. Her brows knitted together and caused her face a ridiculously serious look. “It’s a good thing that you’re not going to do such a thing, unless you want to be tore apart.” She said quietly but clearly. She left no comment on his second statement as she thought there was no way back at the time; if she tried to say no to him, he would do the embarrassing thing which was carrying her to the carnival again. She slightly nodded her head as an agreement to his offer. Maybe some entertainment would help her find a way out in the jumble of depression.
When Heidi was about to look away, she noticed that there was a strange expression of his face as if he was hiding something from her but about to let it out. A little longer patience was what kept her eyes staring at him. Her jaw almost dropped when he revealed the news. “You what? Seriously? You’re not kidding me? No joking here right?” She could not help asking continuously with the brightest smile on her lips. She could not believe what she had just heard from him: Dritan would be King – he had got his crown back. It was the best news she had been informed lately and it was entirely worth being overjoyed. “Oh my god! Congratulations!” She said while jumping up and wrapped her arms around his neck. “I’m so so so happy for you!” She claimed excitedly and totally ignored her anger. Dritan might not be as perfect as a king should be but he was certainly good enough to bring Albania happiness. Maybe his history was not very admirable but his future would be as bright as the starlight on the Northern sky. Heidi was seldom happy for anybody else besides herself but she could not hide the excitement this time. After all, his effort had helped him achieved something. King Besnik was not an easy-going man but he was finally persuaded by his son’s endeavor. At last, there was a happy ending for Dritan after the tough winter and the awkward spring, dealing with all the stresses of losing his crown. The rumors must have been so stressful to him but he overcame everything and become the future king of Albania now. Wasn’t it great? Heidi suddenly loosened her arms when she heard what was said next. Her boss still had the stupid dream that one day she would be his Queen. “You really should stop daydreaming, my King.” She said, rather tensely but still she kept her voice in a gentle tone. “You’re the future King but it does not mean that you can undo the arranged marriage with the Danish princess.” There was bitterness in her saying though she tried to make it sound optimistic. She placed both of her hands on his cheek and looked into his eyes with the empty hazel eyes. “You cannot do whatever you want anymore, dear. Be more responsible. The arranged marriage has been one of your responsibilities since the day you were born and your job is to complete it.” She smiled weakly then pinched his cheeks. “Let me do this when I still can. I will no longer be allowed to do such a thing once you rule the country.” The sadness lingered not too long as she began laughing out loud when looking at his face. She found her reaction this time was quite weird: she did not resist him at all; she even showed some disappointment as well. Heidi let go of her boss and got her serious look back. “Now don’t you remind me about that damn B minus.” She bit her lip. Wasting no time, she quickly followed him to the carnival which was said to be full of excitements. Possibly, it could not be any worse.

Being hit was something that he was used to. Girls and guys he used to hook up with would slap him when he tried to leave or said something rude to them. He spoke openly about his hook ups and he was not afraid to tell them that the physical part of thier night was horrific. But the way that Heidi treated him physically seemed to intregue him more and more now that he was spending more time with her. He loved the feeling of her pinching his cheeks and it was like this glaze would just wash over his eyes as he watched her yell at him. That romantic sort of moment in the movie and she never seemed to notice since she was probably seeing red. Heidi and Dritan were definately a pair of people to watch if you wanted entertainment. Then he laughed at her silly little threat. "Heidi... I am much taller and much fatter than you. There is no way you could tear me apart." He stood about six foot and an inch or so, making him pretty tall for a boy of 18 years old and because he had been eating the breakfast she made him he was less skinny. The weight looked healthy on him and he assumed that he gained it so quickly because he was no longer drinking until he threw up every weekend. Throwing up was great for his womenly figure but not so good on his throat.
But then he told her his wonderful news and her reaction was just perfect. If Heidi thought that Dritan would make a great king then he knew that the rest of his people would love him. Heidi was hard to please and he knew that he could always judge an idea on what Heidi thought about it. Still his smile showed a certain childish excitment. "Of course I'm not joking. Why would I joke about getting my crown back?' It would certainitly be a depressing joke if that is the sort of thing he went with. However this time he was not joking. In fact he was very serious about having his crown and now he was even more serious about getting out of his arranged marriage to be with Heidi. "Thanks... and in a way I should be thanking you for dragging me to the library and stuff. I mean ou made me sit there for hours and do homework and I guess that helped me mature." It helped him to take his mind off of the rumors and the stress of not having his crown. But he knew that Heidi was partially to thank for his growing up and he could tell her thank you until he was blue in the face but she would never believe him. She was just too subborn to believe that she influenced the future king in such a big way.
"Daydreaming..." He said softly and shook his head. He was no longer day dreaming about courting her. He had been quite serious about it for a while now but she still refused to believe in him in that sort of manner. And yet she brought up his arranged marriage and all Dritan could do was sigh softly. "is it so wrong that I consider her happiness in all of this?" His tone was oddly serious for once. His arranged marriage was a serious thing and he seriously did not want any part in it. "Bethany is happy with the prince from Finland and I want her to be with him for as long as she wants. Alliances can be gained with more than just an arranged marriage. Maybe her brother will sign an alliance treaty or something with me so we can end the arranged marriage and so Bethany and I can both be happy with the mates the we choose." He looked down at Heidi after he spoke and just smiled. Then she acted in her usual fashion and pinched his cheeks.
The mood between them had taken a very depressing turn. He was sad that she would be leaving him at the end of the summer and that he could potietially rule without her by his side. Even as a pre teen he imaged that Heidi would be at his side running the staff of his palace while he was King. But that was no longer his reality. Her giggled seemed forced and in responce he forced a smile since they were heading some place fun for the evening.
He took a step down the hall and then offered her his arm to walk there. His attempts at courting her would continue on until she left his side which meant that time was running out for Dritan. Actions needed to move faster if he was to win her heart forever. "The Rose ball is coming up in May... I need someone by my side to make sure that I look pretty for such an important evening. Think I could take you as my date... Please Heidi." Now his tone resumed its usual Dritan style tone. Funny, sarcastic, with a hint of begging.

Heidi bit her lips bitterly as she had to admit that what Dritan said was right: she could not beat him, no to mention tearing him apart. When they were ten, there was a possibility that she could do such a thing but her golden time was over as soon as they turned fourteen and he started to grow incredibly fast. Now every time she wanted to talk to him or even yell at him, she had to look up; she also had to lean on her toes to pinch his cheeks because he was too tall. Heidi looked away to avoid seeing the triumphant look on his face. “But I still can call your parents to ask for an immediate replacement for the position as your servant so that I can get back to Albania and we can be separated sooner.” She grinned cruelly. She was not playing with his feelings – she was just plainly taking the advantages of them. It was the only Dritan could stop bringing out his height to scare her. Honestly, getting back to Albania did not seem so exciting to her. It used to be what she expected the most but she started to be afraid of leaving… Dritan. One of the reasons was that her boss was too childish to be able to take are of himself. Furthermore, she was not ready for a life without being annoyed. Her life was always filled with his craziness and obviously his troubles but she guessed all of them had become a part of her somehow. Leaving them behind could bring her a rather huge shock. She wanted a silent and peaceful life but without Dritan, it seemed quite meaningless. Suddenly, Heidi wondered what she would do if she left him for college. Who would wake him up every morning and make breathtaking breakfast for him? Who would be there to watch over him when he studied? Who could be tough enough to take over her job? Questions began to spin around in her head. But there would not be a lot of choices for her as she decided not to depend on the royal family too much. She must show the world that a servant could be important to the world: she needed to think big.
The news came to her like an electrical shock and she could not help being overjoyed to hear it. Finally, Dritan got himself a happy ending; well maybe it was not the ending but still he had finally got back what he deserved to have. Then it came to the marriage, Heidi tried to avoid mentioning it but still the words came out of her lips like a simple reaction to Dritan statement when he talked about his feelings for her again. Her hazel eyes were full of depression when they looked into Dritan’s as he began saying. He was right: the marriage was arranged and the Danish princess did not show her approval to it either. But they obviously were not powerful enough to be up against their parents. Plus, Heidi did not want to become the cause of another royal drama since being known through the scandals was not what she expected. The servant remained silent, listening to her boss attentively. Bethany had her own happiness with someone else and it was true. Heidi could not bring it up as an excuse to ignore Dritan’s words. She sighed before a weak smile grew on her face. Well, at least it was good to see his stubbornness could never be changed. Heidi tried to make the atmosphere around less tense by pinching his cheeks and forced herself to laugh. After all, it was the Carnival and she should not put any weight on his heart. Both of them stayed quiet for a while though they still walked together. Suddenly, Dritan’s voice broke the silence and Heidi was wholeheartedly grateful due to the fact that awkwardness made her so uncomfortable. The blonde stopped walking and stared at her boss, narrowing her eyes. “Well, look at you! You’re asking me to a ball for the first time after five years literally living together. I am astonished.” She said in a teasing tone. The traditional ball had been held for years and it was the first time he asked her to come with him as his date. There was a different girl who came with him to the ball each year and all of them were extremely beautiful in expensive dresses and makeup. He never even noticed her when she asked him what he would wear to the ball so that she could help him prepare. At that time, Dritan was super arrogant to her and probably that was when she hated him the most. Therefore, she was given a good reason to be shocked when it came to his invitation. “If I come with you, I won’t let you touch a single drop of alcohol. Can you handle that?” She asked. She had already known the answer but she wanted it to come out from his lips. Heidi laughed quietly at the idea that she was pretty addictive in some respects. Quickly, she looked at him again with shifty look on her face. “Let’s play a game. I’m going to give you a chance. I will be you girlfriend for seven days and if you are good enough to make me moved, I will accept your invitation.”

His height has always been his advantage so he worked with it. It was the only thing that separated him from Heidi's evil pinch of his cheeks sometimes. But the threat that she made was much worse than a simple pinch on the cheeks. For a moment he pouted and then he began his complaining. "But then I will get that annoying male... you know the one that is the gardener or whatever. He is so annoying and I think he has a crush on me. Please don't do that to me!" Maybe Dritan had sent the wrong signals towards this male but that was the past and Dritan was not too fond of the way that he hung around and said creepy things. In a relationship then Dritan was the only person allowed to say creepy things! Still the thought of Heidi leaving him with a new servant did suck. His new servant would have to learn all of his little problems and be there to clean up after him if he vomitted on the sheets or something. Not many people would willingly put up with that behavior and Dritan was not to eager to learn what some else would and would not put up with. Yes it was convient to have Heidi around but she also brightened his day with her angry face.
Hopefully she would get along just fine without him but Dritan knew that ruling a country without her by his side would be a difficult task. Honestly he would just have to focus and force himself on his own. At least his father would technically be there for a few years before leaving Dritan to his own devices. How would he do as king? The people of Albania were expecting a lot from thier young prince, that had been made clear by polls that judged Dritan on various things like how the people thought he spoke, acted, and dressed. Most of the polls seemed to be in his favor even after his little discresions. When he was hiding in New York City he watched some Albanian television and he listened to the public saying things like "he's only a boy. we shouldn't give him that much responsibility" or his personal favorite "of course he was going to fuck up... those royal children always do something dumb". Now that a coronation date was in the works he wondered what they would say now about thier future king. Everyone was entittled to an opinion, Dritan believed that, but he hoped that they were not too harsh with him. He hoped that if Heidi ever came around that the public would not be too harsh with her either.
Her reaction had been priceless to him and he just smiled at her comment. "Better late then never." He reminded her and smirked. A teasing smirk for his teasing comment. His previous dates had been girls that he found in the club and Bethany once but one thing was always true. Dritan asked Heidi to make sure that he always at least kind of matched since he hated dealing with that stupid stuff. Then she gave her choices and he just laughed at her. "Heidi... I've been sober since like January. The Rose Ball is not going to make me fall off the wagon." He replied. Now she might have to put up with some wine back in Albania after they graduated as sort of a celebration but that would be it. Once she left then he would drink himself into a comma for a few days to cry over her leaving but she would not need to know about that.
Now she made him an offer that he could just not refuse. A smile appeared on his lips that stretched from ear to ear. "I like this game..." He said softly. That smile, like the chestire cat, just stayed on his face in a stupid way. "You know that I am going to win." He added. Eventually he lead them outside and towards the area where the carival was. "Are you cold Heidi? You can have my sweater." He offered as they walked. A nice gesture since he was going to take this game serious. If he wanted then Dritan could be a great boyfriend and he was about to prove it to her.

Heidi frowned when Dritan started to beg her not to leave him with the annoying male servant who had a crush on him. She sighed heavily then decided to keep silent. If she kept on discussing the subject, she hardly imagined where both of them would go. Secretly, she believed that the misunderstanding between him and that male servant probably started with him. Dritan was certainly the one who was surrounded with super complicated relationships and Heidi obviously did not want to be a part of that complication. Suddenly, she found it kind of funny when she realized that Dritan was actually giving up everything which used to be so important to him life just because of her. She was not anybody so important. She was just one of thousands of servants in the Albanian palace and replacing her was not something too difficult to be done. Furthermore, she also believed that no one would set a tear for her if she died. Nothing was irreplaceable clearly. Then why did Dritan do so many things so her? She used to spend hours to give him a lecture about how harmful alcohol was to his health and his future but he had never listened until lately. Was she that important to him now? His asking her to the prom was even more shocking but Heidi successfully managed to not be freaked out as she would make fun of herself if Dritan saw that. Maybe it was better late then never. Maybe it was better for her to give him a chance, although it was quite late actually due to the fact that their graduation was likely only a month away, than not to give him any chances at all. His reply to her question made she laugh out loud. “Okay, okay. I know you are a good man now. I am proud of you.†She said in laughter. Before asking, she had already known the answer but she still wanted to hear his confirm again. Of course he must have learned something from the scandal that he had caused and him almost losing his crown was the result, she guessed.
Heidi wondered whether it was wise to give him a chance or not. Her mind kept telling her not to do so but every single cell of her body was entirely encouraging her as if it had been her wisest decision ever. A smirk grew on her face when Dritan said that he liked the game. “I guessed you would say the same thing.†Now she was outright giving him the advantage to successfully court her. Letting her guard down was possibly very risky as she knew that she could get hurt at anytime but still she wanted to know how being with somebody felt like. Love was described in the books as the most wonderful thing humans had ever had. She doubted that it was true but she wanted to try to love someone who was not herself. Heidi had no idea why her choice turned out Dritan. “Don’t be so sure. You know I hate arrogant guys terribly.†She turned his hope down with a simple statement. Honestly, she was scared that he was going to win because now she started to be afraid of the image of her future without him. She would go to college and probably become a lawyer after that but why it felt so empty? Was it because of not having him beside her? If he really won the game, how could she ever dare to face the foreseeable future? She had lost people that meant the world to her once and it was horribly painful. She was not ready to take that pain again and she was not sure she could manage to survive it this time. What if he suddenly became so important to her? She could not wish for a future in the palace with him as it was wrong. Everything was wrong. How she could do anything right when all she wanted was wrong? Heidi was deep in thought for a second then she was startled when the Albanian prince suddenly offered her his sweater. A frown showed up on her face as she tapped his back very hard. “Knock it off! How old do you think I am? Twelve?†She said while her face was reddened because of anger. Other girls when seeing his action would probably felt like they were on cloud nine but she was never one of the other girls. If he wanted to win the game then he reall should find a more proper way to take care of her or he would never have her as his date for the prom, not to mention any kind of long term relationships. Heidi felt safe when she thought of that. Things were unpredictable now. There was a possibility that she would still be able to keep her shell.

Actually thinking back on the situation he knew that he had given the wrong signals at the wrong moment in time. Dritan couldn't help that part of him wanted to explore his sexuality when he was drunk and he didn't care about the gender so long as someone was there to warm his bed. At Vineheart he was able to pick up anyone who was willing while at the night clubs and he knew that Heidi knew of his conquests. He remembered when the male in question first came to work at the palace and Dritan would sit outside in the sun, an act he hated, to watch the gardener tend to the precious flowers and plants that lined the garden grounds. However this act grew boring and dull and soon he returned to Heidi because she always managed to keep he going mentally. That is what made her special. She would raise her hand to him and pinch his cheeks while yelling at him, no other servant would willing do that for fear of thier job. And despite the fact that Dritan's father hated when the Albanian press refered to Heidi as the "Royal Babysitter" he would not let her be fired since he knew what a task it was to keep Dritan in line. Her job was more secure than all fo the Albanian Royal wealth.
He smiled at her comment and he nodded. "Well you know that I love a challenge and I will always rise to the occasion." He replied in a very playful manner. It was what was going to make him a great king, he drive to over come all of those around him. With him in charge Albania would prosper and become a force to be known throughout Europe. At least that is what he hoped and what his goals were once he assumed the throne. Then she spoke again and Dritan pouted for a moment. He was terribly arrogant and he wanted to point this out to her but he did not want to risk loosing the game so soon. So he kept his mouth shut and just smiled at her. If his fate was going to be to loose Heidi and marrying some princess than so be it but Dritan was not about to go down without a fight. He would kick and scream all the way down to the alter with his father dragging him there. Of course he knew that he needed to act quickly because there was a wedding brewing and Heidi was leaving. Secretly he wanted to propose to keep her around but knew that would be met with a great "no".
"I'm just looking out for your safety and health my dear." He replied when he reminded him that she was not twelve. "Hey remember that one time when we were twelve... it was snowing out and I insisted on going outside without my jacket." He commented as they continued thier journey down towards the carnival. "And then I slipped and fell in the snow... damn I fall alot." He commented and turned towards her. He thought for a moment and then stopped walking again. "you know if the carnival is not really your thing than we can do dinner instead? Or i could burn us up something to eat if you would rather stay in."
