Personality
Wild* Miguel is what you'd call a party boy, and when he parties, he parties hard. Waking up somewhere with no idea as to how he got there is nothing strange to Miguel, and he generally takes the stance that what you don't know won't hurt you. Alcohol and sex are his typical drug of choice, but that's not to say he hasn't tried a few other things in the past. It seems that the young prince will do almost anything for a thrill, from all the drugs and sex to taking on stupid dares or starting fights for no reason. Miguel knows that there are times at parties (more often than not, really) where his image is less than flattering, and there was a time when he tried to contain himself for this reason, but now it seems he's gotten to a point where he just can't bring himself to care anymore.
Genius* Weren't expecting that one, were you? Believe it or not, the boy is actually very smart, what some would call a genius. All things academic come easily to him, and while he hates attending classes he loves any sort of test or puzzle, anything that will challenge him. Miguel is fluent in five languages, semi-fluent in three more, and can recognize and understand at least two more. He passes every test he doesn't sleep through with flying colors, which is mostly what keeps him from failing out of school. He can beat most people at chess if he's patient enough to see the game through. He can play piano, violin, and guitar and sing decently well when he's sober. Miguel's biggest downfall academically and intellectually is his drinking, and that's only because it makes his already short attention span even shorter.
Realistic* Though he may be a prince, Miguel realizes that he's not all that charming, and chances are there won't be any happily ever after. This is something he's never really had any illusions about, and it only continues to be reaffirmed as he gets older. Miguel is also a lot more self-aware than people think. Sure, there are things he either doesn't know or won't admit about himself, but when people assume that he parties because he's just stupid or careless, well they're absolutely wrong. He knows that what he does is selfish. He knows what people say about him. He knows that he disappoints his parents, worries his brothers, scares his sister. He knows that he's not fit to run a country, sober or not, and he knows that deep down he's just running away from that responsibility. Contrary to popular belief, Miguel knows exactly what he's doing. And he's okay with it.

History There's not too much to say about Miguel's history. He was the first born child of King Hilario and Queen Generosa. His younger brother was born when he was very young, and the two were nearly inseparable as soon his the younger prince learned to walk. They loved to play futebol and other sports together, and they remained close until Miguel left for Vineheart when he was thirteen. The twins were born when Miguel was a little older, so they never played together much. He still loves them both dearly, but he's never felt as close to them as he does to his oldest brother.
When Miguel went to Vineheart was when things started going down hill, so to speak. He had always known that he would become king some day, or at least, that he was expected to, but until he was sent off to Vineheart that fact just never really sunk in. At first it didn't bother Miguel too much, but the stress of that responsibility soon got to him. He started going to parties towards the end of his first year, but they weren't anything crazy back then, and he stopped as soon as he went home for the summer.
That summer, however, things only got worse. Hearing his father talk about how proud he was of him for doing well in school (like that was some sort of surprise) and what a great ruler he was sure to make some day was just too much for Miguel. He started going to more parties when he returned to Vineheart, and they got progressively wilder as the year went on. Still, it was nothing to attract mummy and daddy's attention. The next summer at home he snuck out multiple times to go to clubs or hang out with friends, and when he returned to Vineheart for his third year, it was as if he just didn't care anymore.
His parents got wind of his antics towards the end of that year, but they did nothing to punish him, simply stressing how "disappointed" they were, how they "knew he could do better." At that point, though, Miguel wasn't so convinced. He continued his partying all throughout that summer whenever he could get away from the palace. It was at the end of that summer, just before he left for school, Miguel slept with a girl by the name of Ana Maria. They exchanged numbers, but he never called. He never even knew her last name.
About midway through his fourth year at Vineheart he got a call from Ana. She was pregnant. And guess who the father was? Miguel was beyond freaked out. He couldn't handle the responsibility of being king, and that was far in the future. He definitely couldn't take the immediate responsibility of being a father. He called his parents and confessed the whole affair, not knowing what else to do. Again, they didn't punish him in any way, only reprimanded him and expressed their disappointment. They paid off the girl and kept the media at bay as best they could, and Miguel was left with nothing but a bastard child halfway around the world and more incentive to drink than ever.
