Living with a bunch of teenage girls was not the easiest on the best of days and there were certainly days that he wished that he could just crawl into a hole somewhere and hide out until they were ready to play nice. He did not understand the hormones that they were all going through because after all he was guy and he had no experience with this, but really to tell the truth they were a lot better than a lot of the other girls that were around the school. He had always been quite close with Arietta from a young age so it was only natural for him to then accompany her to school as her personal body guard and servant. Most of all he was a shoulder to lean on when she needed it, a person that no matter what she would be able to count on and when it came to Ian there were not too many people that he allowed to use him as a rock. People really were not his highlight or forte in life, he had always been hard worker and he had been more interested in being independant and relying on no one but himself because in his mind that was the only person that was not capable of letting him down. Vineheart even though it was strange to him, a school out in the middle of nowhere in Montana, was a place that he considered to be his home, never would it take the place of Italy since he was born there and knew no different but it was a temporary place that he could settle with even if the American culture was one that might not be for him. It seemed to lack the pride that Italian people seemed to have, they were not as strict with their families and morals were different, not really better or worse just different and why bother changing something that he saw as ideal and that was the way that he tended to view Italy. Groaning as his alarm woke him that morning the snooze button was pressed as quickly as possible knowing that the rest of the girls in the dorm room were not going to be getting up that early on a weekend morning and he muttered a little incoherently in his native language before swinging feet over the edge of his bed, any coach that decided that Saturday morning, early was the best time for a practise really did have it out for the team and he knew that not a whole lot of them were going to be showing up. They would have some excuse or another but he could not allow himself to be part of that group even if he was not in the mood to force himself to run when he just wanted to sleep for the next couple hours before waking up on his own terms. Slipping on a pair of shorts and a long sleeve t-shirt since the weather was still cool he carried his shoes along with him out the door of his room and passing through the common room area, since it was still dark there was not a lot that was guiding him other than that light on his cell phone that did not tend to help him too much when his foot was jammed into the edge of the leg of a chair that had been left untucked from a desk and biting his lip was the only thing that managed to keep the yelp at bay as he hopped on his deemed good foot in the direction of the door with a scowl, it was clear it was going to be one of those mornings.
Pausing to lock the door behind him again at least he knew that he had been quiet enough to not wake anyone else up in his wake of destruction, half the time he wondered if they did that on purpose finding it funny since it was like an obstacle course to make it through the room unscathed. His foot had stopped throbbing by the time he rested back against the wall to tie his shoes and head in the direction of the cafeteria first before the field that they were going to be practising on. He managed to have just enough time to grab a water bottle before heading in the direction of the locker room and placing his belongings in a locker that was assigned to them at the beginning of the year. Stepping out onto the field he almost wished that he brought something more than just his long sleeved shirt because he shivered lightly in the cool weather that was just starting to look a little more like the spring weather that would take them into summer. There were not too many people there as of yet but then again he was always on time and there was a lot of the team that was going to be nursing a killer hang over from the night before. Friday nights seemed to be the time to go out to the Ice Box and while he did not tend to go there very often he had been there on a few occasions and sometimes a difficult day just called for the time to go out and party and drink the night away even as irresposible as it seemed, as long as it was not a time that he needed to be on high alert for Arietta. She was always the number one priority in his mind, no one else really did matter to him at the school besides the few friends that managed to get close-ish to him. That was a feat within itself though because he was not the type to ever open up to someone, he had too much hidden in his past and things that people would love to get ahold of around here, there was no one as cutthroat as the people at this school and he did not want anything to look bad on the girl that he was assigned to. Practise always seemed to start out he same way, with a large group stretch before a light run and he feel into place amongst the group in the stretches.

[/img] As soon as her phone started going off in an alarm, there was little holding her back from tossing the device at the wall as hard as she could that morning. Whoever scheduled a track practice on a Saturday morning clearly had no Friday night social agenda and needed vigorous counseling. Her Friday night had been much too fun for many people's standards, some of the proteges heading out with the Queens to bounce from Ice Box and wherever else they could get themselves into. As usual it had been nothing her parents would have ever approved of, probably would have given her father a heart attack if he heard of any of the things that she had been doing last night. Oh the joys of being thousands of miles away and for her older brother to be off at University.Last year would have never gotten anywhere close to this with him around since he tended to watch over bother her and Deme like a hawk and even better yet would be her fifth and final year at Vineheart when she did manage to be one of the real Queens, it was going to be great, it was easily imagined for her. Despite summer meaning she would be out of school, she was not looking forward to the fact as it would mean she would be stuck back in the Netherlands, away from all the plentiful distractions that Vineheart housed. She was not ready to leave it, the social side of the school was what she truly enjoyed, aside from the sports she participated in. Like Dom, she had taken to athletics and had an extremely competitive nature when it came down to it. She was very driven with sports, and even sometimes with school but more so the athletics. Lacrosse was her main and favorite sport, then volleyball, and last track. Track was simply a way to end her year and another thing to add to her resume. A grumble soon came from her as she grudgingly reached forward to silence it before laying back in bed a moment more only to drift off briefly. The second alarm went off as scheduled and she was slowly removing herself from the comfort of her bed and slowly moving towards the bathroom. This morning was definitely not going to make her very fond of the sport, neither her volleyball or lacrosse coaches were religious when it came to early morning practices. She looked like hell from the glimpse she got in the mirror, muttering to herself before taking a not very quick shower and finally stepping out the brush and dry her hair, pulling long mocha locks into a neat pony tail after changing into an under armour long sleeved shirt and a pair of shorts that were retrieved from her drawer. Since the weather was in no mood to be warm for once, her outfit was actually modest for practice unlike the borderline risque and scandalous side that could come out during the warmer months. She much preferred that for the attention aspect although she was not so conceited as to freeze her ass off for that. Plus the coaches were already weary of her as it was, it was not hard to pick up on from her viewpoint. She already had the problem of a hangover to cope with, nothing else was necessary.Being already late on her way out the door did not phase her from making an extra trip towards the front of the campus to retrieve the coffee and chocolate muffin that she had purposefully sent an order for the day before. At least she had planned for herself in that aspect, the warm white chocolate and caramel double shot mocha helping both warm and wake her up on her walk across the lawn.
Wtih her pink gym bag slung over one shoulder and large sun glasses perched on her face despite the small amount of sunshine, she walked casually to track practice, receiving several glares from the coaches as she passed to join her place among the remainder of the stretches. As soon as she found a group of familiar girls, it did not take long for them to commit to a flutter of conversation, buzzing about last night and other hot topics as well. Their chatting ceased to help her throbbing head ache which grew with every word spoken and only caused her to be more and more irritable but she kept up with what they were talking about, up until they all started complaining equally about how stupid it was to have practice this early on the weekend. It's ridiculous. I'm sure Mr. High-and-Mighty himself did it. She stated with a roll of her eyes, the girls easily agreeing with her. We voted for team Captain, not team Nazi. She snickered as the others soon joined her. We all know the only reason he was voted as captain is because half the team wants in his pants.... Rolling her eyes, she soon shot a how-dare-you-glare at one of the girls who then spoke up in response to this. Wait, didn't you vote for him Des? Quickly correcting this statement, she shook her head. Did you see what he was up against? Plus that was before I realized how much he worships Arietta. It's kinda creepy really... Shuddering with a small laugh, she finished her stretching prior to standing back up just as the rest of those around were and she took a small step back as the small group around her were either giggling or looking as though they had seen ghosts. Amused, the princess of the Netherlands rolled her eyes at them before turning to face the direction in which they were staring. Biting her lip to refrain from laughing, she faced the Captain, waiting to see whether or not he had heard any part of their conversation. Then again he had the morals of a saint compared to the rest of Vineheart's students and was probably above eavesdropping, right? Either way, there was a part of her wanting to see him react if he had actually heard just what she was thinking of him.

Friday night for him last night had been uneventful he had been invited to the Ice Box by some of his closer friends and ended up spending an hour or two there not even drinking too much besides the occasional beer before then calling it quits and making his way back to the dorm room. Well actually to tell the truth he had gone for a jog and a swim when he had gotten back since he knew that there was no way that he would be able to sleep when it was so early. He was the type of guy that needed to be so weary that he could barely manage to crawl into bed in order to sleep through the night. That did not tend to make the mornings any easier though, even though he was a light sleeper and most of the time he was not even in a productive sleep he was still groggy in the morning like every other teenage guy that wanted nothing more than to throw their alarm clock somewhere where it would not wake them up anymore and roll over and curl back up but the reality was that if he did not make it to track practise on time this morning that there was going to be hell to pay. There were responsibilities as a captain that he wished that he would be able to shrug off but then he would not be the captain then would he? After a thrilling way to wake up by stubbing his toe against the chair that was left untucked from the desk of the girls room he made his way out into the hallway squinting at the light since it had been so dark in the room and the only time that he turned the light on had been when he secured that the bathroom door was shut and that he was not going to disturb anyone else when he did so. Running a hand through his hair at least that seemed to be laying flat and not sticking out in all random directions even though he was sure that it was going to be a mess after the track practise. Spring was almost upon them and that meant that training needed to be stepped up for the spring and summer events that were coming up and given that he was a sprinter he needed the conditioning to take place and he needed to force himself up to a new level if he was going to be competitive. As of right now his best competitor was the Prince of Mexico who was graduating this year, the other guy played basketball in his off time so he knew that he was fit all year round and he took it just as seriously so in order to edge the competitive side out he knew that he needed to practice with the other guy and he needed to challenge himself. Even though he did not know Ric all too well and only talked to him once or twice when not in track he seemed to have a good head on his shoulders and while there were not too many people that Ian did get along with he was one of them and he knew that the other guy was not too stuck up to say hi in the hallways which was a nice touch since there were not too many people like that in this school and most would just pass by you like they had never seen you in their life.
A casual conversation was kept up with the guy beside him even though he could see that Ian was not at all interested in talking, he tended to be much too quiet for that and even when he did speak it was never about anything that might be considered anything close to personal so he did not know why they bothered especially in the time where he was trying to get himself focused because unlike a lot of these people he did tend to take sports seriously because he really needed an outlet in his life and nothing else seemed to cut it. This was the time that he managed to have away from the Italian princess to have a breather before then returning to his job that he loved dearly and as he turned towards the front lawn when a lot of the other people looked in that direction he was reminded of yet another person that did not manage to find the morning track practice too interesting, in fact he had seen her last night in passing when he had been at the Ice Box though would never dream of irritating himself by trying to talk to her. She walked in as they were halfway through their stretches and managed to gain herself quite a few glares but really why would the teachers say anything when it was not going to make a single difference in the way that she acted. He did have to wonder if her father knew what his little girl was up to in her time at Vineheart and that was she was painting a perfect picture of girls gone wild but really it was not only none of his concern but he could not even be forced to care. As the silence fell between him and the other guy it was impossible not to hear the girls that were talking in front of them and eyes were rolled from where they would not be able to see it since he was certainly not at all interested in having a stand-off with one of them but did they not know how ridiculous they were? As he stepped forward the girls that she was talking to turned towards him and stopped talking almost immediately and he just plastered a grin on charming features. Nice to know I have your support, Des. He exaggerated the nickname that they used with her as piercing eyes were then settled on her. Expression was completely unreadable with the exception of the amused smirk that touched on his lips. If everyone voted for me because they wanted 'in my pants' and you voted for me what exactly does that mean? He quipped. Sorry your highness, vindictive and foul are not my type. He countered before then stepping towards the track that ran around the school for them to practise on. Two laps around was customary for a warm up and he quickly settled into an easy jog away from the group.

[/img] When they had first gotten their practice schedules, she had quickly been the first to ask if they were doing evening practices since she did not believe that they had been serious in expecting them to do practices on Saturday mornings at the crack of dawn. She had been convinced it was either a major typo or a sick joke but no, it had not been either. Instead it was more like a nightmare to her but it obviously was not only her it was that way to since quite a few of her team mates were also lumbering around like zombies. Clearly they knew how to party as well, it was the ones that didn't that were actually okay with this practice and looking as chipper as ever. It was rather ridiculous in her view, the little overachievers they were but that was not her problem. She just did not approve of them and their nonsensical brown nosing. It was just annoying to her. Right now, she was having extreme difficulty taking track seriously as they did not have a meet for some time but even then she generally was not one to do practices half assed. Today, that might be another story with the early morning and the hangover factoring into the mess. She was less than impressed with everything and anything to say the least. Maybe she should have tried for captain last year, she would have definitely tried to make some say in decisions but it was doubtful that she could have taken it, after all, the coaches had the majority decision in it and well three of four were not overly fond of her and that may have been because she was not the best at complaining quietly....Regardless, she was not going to let them forget how bad of an idea practice this early on a weekend was, it looked like she would have several cases that would back her up to. The few gutsy people that had shown up with hangovers did not appear to be taking it as well as she was, she was already making a mental note to avoid them at all times possible since she did not want to be near them in case things took a turn for the worst.
The conversation between her and the group of girls was constantly changing until they came up on the topic of the early morning practice and what a drag it was. Of course Desyx was not shy in voicing her opinion on all of it and where she thought the blame should fall on.Of course Ian was not the only captain though he was the one she knew more of and a much easier target for her case. She did not know but he just bothered her, something about the way that he seemed to think himself too good for everyone else and the way he only seemed to socialize with his boss rather than anyone else. He was nearly a mute to her, that was how it seemed since he was not one that just anyone could talk to.It bothered her that he was not the type to have ever even looked in her direction and that was not forgotten easily. Obviously something was not wired right in his brain as far as she was concerned. Maybe he was just plain stupid, that would make sense for a lot of things since he did not act anywhere close to how the other teenage boys did. He was too....behaved almost in her opinion. But then again, what other choice did he have when he was stuck working at this school she supposed. None of it was any interest to her, it should not matter about him one bit, he just managed to peeve her. When she started ranting about him, she was not surprised that he had overheard and she was soon standing face to face with him, merely biting her lip to refrain from laughing. As if she cared what he was going to think of her after this. The grin that he was wearing caused her to scowl soon after as he was simply entertained by her mocking him. This was not going to go well. She nearly grimaced when he exaggerated her nickname. Actually, it is "your highness" to you. And support is the farthest thing you have from me, just so we are on the same page. Crossing her arms, she stared squarely at his piercing blue eyes. His next comment did not gain any amusement from her as he too referred to her voting for him. Don't flatter yourself. I honestly had little choice and was not even paying attention at the time. I wanted Alaric to be captain. She soon snapped after him, scrambling to think of things after his comments had managed to get to her. He was so not going to get away with any of that. A death glare was quickly shot in his direction at his next statement, gritting her teeth and refraining from the knee-jerk reaction of how badly she wanted to slap him. The girls around her had long since fallen silent and were all staring at her skeptically, waiting to see what she was going to do to redeem herself. Thinking on her feet, the first thing she thought to do was stick her foot out as he took off, not about to let him just get away that easily. Oops. She said with a small shrug, rolling her eyes. The ground is where you belong, all the more easier for Arietta to walk all over you like a door mat.Don't forget that. Muttering this to him, she immediately looked up as she felt a heavy gaze on her. Sighing lightly, she cursed under her breath at the notice of one of the coaches lumbering over. Problem? Shaking her head with an innocent expression, there was no question about the coach not believing it. Don't bother stopping at two laps, both of you. As the coach wandered off, she glared at him behind his back as well before turning away from Ian with disgust, stepping onto the track and taking off into an easy jog since it was going to be a longer warm up than originally she had anticipated. Asshole. She muttered under her breath again, paying little attention to those around her.

He could not help but find it rather amusing the way that a lot of the people joined the practice in the morning looking like they had either just gotten in from the night before or they were feeling like they needed to finish puking the rest of their insides out. People really needed to learn to handle their alcohol if that was the case, hopefully this would be a lesson to them all that maybe there were bigger and better things out there than partying and then dragging your ass out of bed to a track practice in the morning but really he did not think that one early morning practice a week was going to instill any sort of responsibility in any of them at all. He knew that in comparison to the rest of the people that looked like they had no interest in running the laps that he looked chipper but that was just the way that he was and he could not help the fact that track and field was one of his favourite sports and one of the things that he took so seriously. He needed this every morning in order to be able to focus for the rest of the day. Given that he was in his second last year at Vineheart he needed to do his best in the subjects and needed to do well on the tests as well just in case there was a time that he was no longer serving the Italian royals and he moved onto something like going to university on his own and getting his own career but really he could not picture that happening because he was quite happy with the fact that he was protecting the people that mattered the most in his life and gave him the second chance at a life that was much better than spending the rest of his teenage years in an orphanage somewhere or under the care of his crazy father that held a gun to his head. The way that the princess of the Netherlands was talking about him when he was standing right behind her it was almost as if she wanted him to be able to hear all that she was saying and he did not even need to eavesdrop since the rest of the team was probably listening as well. He knew that not too many people really had even heard him speak since he preferred to not bother with even talking to anyone at all but there was no way that he could just walk away without some sort of comment in her direction because really that was not fair to him so when he stepped up to her there was no hesitation. He was not some shy and meager type of guy to hide behind someone, he made no qualms about meeting her eyes from where he was standing and locking gazes with her with an amused expression it did not matter that there were other girls around that were going to hear what he had to say, anyone else might have been intimidated by him but then again he meant no harm and she was too much of a handful for this to even cross her mind. Pardon me, your highness. He stated but it was clear that his words were not at all meant to be good natured, they were sarcastic but he could not help the bow that dipped him at the waist.
If you wanted Alaric to be captain then why did you vote for me, and don't bother to deny that I heard you say it. I am pretty sure the entire team heard it. He uttered in a challenge. He really did not think that she would have the guts to do what she did next when she stuck her foot out to trip him as he made his way away from the group in a light jog. He did manage to be caught off gaurd and barely caught himself with his hands on the ground with a rush of air being knocked out of him. He could feel that all eyes were on him now as he stood back to his feet sending a glare back in her direction. What the hell is wrong with you? He uttered and listened to the comment that she had to make about Arietta and temper flared up. Nice to know you keep tabs on my personal life, Arietta is ten times more worthy of a title than yourself. He uttered and then turned to the coach when he stated that the two of them were not to stop at two laps he just nodded with a grim look, he did not bother to groan like anyone else would since he knew that he needed to look acceptable as the captain and accept the punishement even though he had not been the one to do the tripping. He fell into a pace behind her on the track. Don't worry jogging builds character that you are in desperate need of. He uttered He was not normally so cynical but there was something about her that simply brought out the worst in him and he knew that he really should just be forgetting this all and moving on back to the silent type but he could not help it. Your plan to spend more time with me was granted. He stated before pace increased to fall into stride lightly in front of her, jogging and running was definitely his strong point.

[/img] She wished track practice was decided by the good old fashioned majority ruled what happened because then, she was certain the team would not be practicing at the crack of dawn on a Saturday morning. Half of them had been out late last night and had gotten barely, if any sleep and now were going through hell now. The coaches should have known this, it was no secret that teenagers tended to over enjoy their weekends but instead, they had scheduled it to show their true colors. This caused Des to question why she had joined track in the first place although when it came down to competing and the benefits of staying in shape throughout the season, everything did turn out. The early morning practices were just not something she was going to agree with in this life. No one looked particularly agreeable aside from those that did not mind early mornings which were far and few between though easy to pick out in contrast to the numerous that were starting to look a little green. She would not be going near any of those ones for sure. There were rules to drinking and hangovers but clearly these people were newbs and had no idea. Des was getting to be a master at it though after being with the queens and learning the ropes a little better. But even the coffee was never enough to subside it completely of course, she felt like hell but was able to mask this with a wicked smile within seconds generally. She had practiced this over the years and it was nothing new to her as acting came naturally almost, her mother had once told her how she had been interested in theater during her high schools years which made Desyx curious to see if it could be genetically passed down. Probably not but it was something to be a little skeptical about. As usual, she never put much of a cap on her voice to keep it down. If people had something to say about what she was talking about, more fire to them as she was always up for an argument. Another strong suit of hers in most cases though she never joined debate since she tended to get very personal in her rebuttals. Her recent subject was not one she expected to have the guts to even say something or look at her the wrong way so she was going to change the subject to someone a little more exciting. But before she managed to do that, he was actually standing up for himself. Kudos for that, she thought as the group around her was a little amazed at this as well. When he did stand up, she wanted to glare at the girls by her as they were all practically leading forward to devour whatever words came from his mouth and she was sure there was a few of them undressing him with their eyes as well. Desperation being a large factor as far as she was concerned there.Last year, she might have been like that but after getting a little more insight on him and realizing his attachment to the Italian princess, she wanted to gag. A cruel smile spread on lips as she listened to him exaggerated the use of your highness though she was soon rolling her eyes again as he too was finding this amusing and she was aware of it. She needed to knock him down a peg.
Ignoring him when he tried to point out that she had voted for him as captain, she thought better of it by dropping the subject entirely. It was best to just allow sleeping dogs to lie on most occasions, the current being one in which this was very fitting. Before he had managed to jog off, she was quick to consider tripping him and was grinning triumphantly as she managed to do so which had caused a bigger seen than she may have meant to. She muttered to him before he got back up and shrugged. The comment on Arietta did not fly well and she could see that she had hit a definite sore spot on that one which was music to her ears. Really? Your little innocent doe-eyes will snap the minute a guy walks in and out of her life, yet you think she's strong enough to rule a country? She was incredulous when she said this to him, waiting to see how in the world he was going to respond before she questioned his sanity. That guy definitely needed a reality check if he was being the least bit serious right then. When the coach came over to tell them to do more laps, she was less than impressed but at least she was not the only one to get sucked into it and he would have to suffer through it as well. Without another word to Ian, she went to the track until he was the one that decided to jog behind her and decided to make the comment. A glare was shot in his direction immediately afterward though she was not prepared to snap a comment back at him as usual and kept on jogging, waiting hopefully that one of the girls would catch up on one of their rounds but they were mostly finished by this point. Shaking her head at him as he stated that her wish was granted, she noticed the lead he took in jogging and was not going to settle with it mentally. Jogging a little faster to catch up with him, she could not keep silent for any longer. Oh yes, I want to spend as much time as I possibly can with you. She muttered. So is running the reason you have no social life? Despite her less than desirable attitude, she was kind of curious now and it did tend to get the better of her at times like this, even if she hated it for happening. Even with her curiosity, she was not the pleasantest of girls of course, that was saved for select times as it was.

While he was not too much for the early rising that meant that he was going to have to get out of bed much earlier than he would be considering Saturday was one of the days that eh was allowed to sleep in to see the rest of the track members looking like zombies was more than a little satisfying especially since the princess of the Netherlands was the one that was able to express herself the most complaining and throwing a complete fuss when it would not be so bad if she were to just get down to business and just get over herself. That made the early mornings worth it at least to him. He did tend to steer clear of her for the most part though since there was no way that he wanted to tangle himself in that web it was better off that she just steer clear of him completely and he just mind his own business because as attractive as she was her attitude was piss poor at best and he was a servant and girls like that were all about the titles and status of a man. It was actually quite hilarious really and he hated to see the day when she was going to take the crown, absolute power corrupts absolutely. Well she was already a piece of work when she did not even have all the power so he would only imagine what she was going to be like when she took center stage and realized that all eyes were on her. Personally he was more than pleased that he would be in Italy when that time came and he did not need to see that. Getting up this early on the weekend did do something for him though, it made it easier for the rest of the week since he was already on the schedule. The mornings tended to be the time where he got the most accomplished long before anyone was even out of bed and therefore that allowed him a little more time for himself later in the day when he wanted to go for a run or do some extra soccer practise so it all worked out for the best for him. Since he had not been out drinking the night before, or he knew how to limit himself rather he was feeling better than the majority of the team and was ready for the practice to start. He really could not believe how obnoxious the girl was being right now as she spoke so loudly with her friends about him when he was so close to where she was standing and even though he knew that she was doing it on purpose to get a rise out of him he just could not handle not saying anything at all. He needed to make a comment and stand up for himself even if he knew that he was not going to get out unscathed from a conversation with her. He muttered under his breath in a low tone of Italian before then stepping forward to address her. It did not matter that harsh words were uttered between the two of them since he knew that the rest of track practice was going to ensure that he would forget all about her but when she stuck her foot out to trip him and he barely managed to save himself before a face plant there was no denying that he was pissed off, better off to just walk it off though but not before the coach managed to catch the two of them sentencing them to running laps.
He could not help but acting protective over Arietta given that she was the one that had managed to get him a job and his entire job revolved around protecting her so if she wanted to get him mad that was going to be what she needed to touch on. Eyes narrowed at her when she commented that all the other girl needed was a guy to walk into her life and she would snap. I don't see any potential suitors knocking on your door, it appears that I am not the only one to think that you are too foul for a second glance. Nor do I think that you could even handle a relationship so what does that make you? He asked. I suppose that is going to make ruling a country very lonely for you. He uttered and knew that he might have been a bit harsh but this was something that she managed to bring out in him even if he was normally laid back and did not bother in talking to too many people. As he fell into a rhythm jogging he could not help the comment that flew from his lips and then he continued with paying no attention to her but he really did have to admit that if his mind was taken off the fact that they were going to have to jog for the rest of practice it might be better than being in complete silence, just because it was so boring not because it was going to be something that was hard on him. The jogs that he often went on were quite lengthy and therefore he was not going to be overexerting himself. He managed to have won the battle of remaining silent when he jogged next to him. Do you need me to slow down a little so you can keep up and manage snarky comments at the same time? He asked her almost looking serious about it as well. Head tilted when she asked if running was the reason that he had no social life and he laughed. What entitles you to asking a question like that? He asked. If you had perhaps asked nicely I might give you a response. He told her defiantly. tagged; desyx renee of the netherlands

[/img] Everyone always said teenagers did not get enough sleep. Why was this? Well Des could only blame school and sports practices, if it weren't for early morning activities, there would be absolutely nothing wrong with her sleep schedule. For some reason, the teachers and coaches did not agree and she just did not see why this was. One day, they would realize their mistakes although she was not sure when it would really come into light. They were definitely stupider than they claimed to be, that was for sure. A lot of people underestimated Desyx and her view of the Netherlands throne, they did not understand it the way she did. She understood what was going to be asked of her in a few years. Now was the time for her to misbehave slightly, she would not have the chance later on so these were her last years to be a teenager, both figuratively and literally. There was a large responsibility resting on her shoulders for the future and she understood that, even if others did not know that. Of course she thought she had it all figured out when she really didn't. Though there were numerous occasions when she stepped out of line and those were things that sometimes she could not help, after all it did not help being the family limelight.Irritating people tended to be one of her specialties along with complaining so this morning was the perfect opportunity to do both, nearly daring the Italian princess's servant to come over and say something though she had had many doubts that he actually would. He did not say much so therefore she was very surprised to hear him come over and step forward in retaliation, nonetheless it was game on for Des. She needed something to entertain her if she was going to be up and about this early and currently she had found her subject. Though she could not say she was thrilled that his ungraceful incident caused her to be forced to run as well, that plan had backfired on her for once but after complaining a little, she was jogging on the track effortlessly and mentally cursing the coach along with Ian himself.
Poking at Arietta was definitely the way to get to Ian and it did not take her two seconds to have this figured out. She did not like the girl as it was, she was too goody two shoes for Des's taste. Then there was the way that she called everyone 'darling' and 'dear' or other endearing names that made the Netherlands Princess want to gag.Honestly, who did that? It was too fluffy, and fake in her eyes, something she would never think highly of. As far as Des could see, Arietta was nothing but weak and therefore an unspoken failure to the Italian throne, they were just too blinded. Thank goodness that girl was not first in line, at least they had made some sort of sense in that decision. At Ian's comment, she was actually stung by it but was not about to allow that fact show, she was far too stubborn to let him know that he had gotten to her somewhat. She was asking for this so therefore she was going to take it all in stride. Oh and I suppose you've been paying that close of attention to me, really? Stalker, much? That is not your problem, now is it? She stated sharply, surprised at how he was acting even if she had managed to provoke him. She had not expected for him to actually stand up and retort though she was amused by it all.Eyes were rolled in his direction when he brought up that ruling a country would be very lonely for her. You know what, that is where you are completely wrong. Or are you one of those sexist pigs who does not believe a woman is capable of anything? If you are implying that I actually need someone to take the throne with me, you are dead wrong. I, unlike some people, can take care of myself and my country. I don't need to be dependent on some guy. She said with a stern tone and without allowing that to slide. She was waiting for his comment on how irresponsible she was being now but she was ready for it, he had no idea how prepared she was when it was going to come to taking the throne. It was something she was entirely serious about and she really did have a method to her madness now, not that she was going to bother explaining it to Ian. With the combination of how she was feeling, how early it was, and Ian's comments, she was about to lose it and it was very dangerous at this point yet she kept waiting on what he had to say. Jogging with him, she did not dare fall behind and did not jog ahead simply because she did not know how long they would be jogging in the first place.Glaring at him when he asked if he needed to slow down, the words flew from her lips soon after. Only if you need me to trip you again which I would be delighted to do. Smiling wickedly at him for a brief moment, she turned her gaze ahead on the track. She was not having any issue keeping up with him, after all she was in sports practically all year long. Her curiosity got the better of her, even if she did not like to talk to him, she was still curious. Suppressing the urge to sigh dramatically, she was silent for several moments before grudgingly asking the question in a 'nice' fashion. Why she was even bothering to speak to him in the first place, she had no clue but what other option did she have then and there? Is running something you like to do? That was surprisingly painless but she was not sure that the track captain would go for it, he was higher maintenance than she thought in the first place.

He knew that unlike a lot of the rest of the population of the school that he was one of the few that did manage to get enough sleep because unlike the rest of them he was taking both his job and his school work seriously. Unlike all the other royals if he were to decide to back to Italy to start off on his own he was not going to be able to go to the best school possible and he knew that the only reason he was going to get into the best university around was because of who he was serving and the fact that he was going to be going with her and he really did not like those thoughts. He wanted to be able to achieve it on his own so he felt like he was not just cheating the system with the drop of a name. Right now though with what was happening with Desyx and the fact that she was jogging beside him he did not dare allow his thoughts to get the better of him and wind up face planting on the track since she proved that she was not above tripping him. That made the anger rise slightly but really what could he do, she would like to see him mad and uttering snide comments in her direction since she seemed more than pleased to act that way right now. He really did not know anything about her and other than seeing her in the hallways occasionally and then in track practices and another class or two he knew nothing about her so what he was saying right now was not meritted at all or based on anything besides the fact that he knew that it was going to get under her skin. For all he knew she could turn out to be the best ruler of her respective country. He was surprised that he even came to talk to her in the first place because there were a lot of times that he would have just shrugged it off and knew better and just left it alone but there was something that was daring him this morning and causing him to act out even if it was not the best idea on his part. If she had not gotten the same punishment in continuing to run while the rest of the team just did one lap he was sure that he would have been a little more angry but she looked less than impressed at the sentence but really she might wanted to have think about that before she did it in the first place. Surely she was going to place all the blame right on him when he was more than innocent in all of this and she was the culprit that managed to trip him and then talk about him in a way that he wanted to defend himself. He should have just played stupid and acted like he was not even listening and because she now knew that she could get to him through talking about Arietta and there was no way that he was going to allow her to talk ill about the person that he was protecting and working for because he did think really highly of the Italian princess but that did not mean the things that she was suggesting. She was one of the most genuinely nice people that he had met and he was sure that Des was just jealous that the other girl was able to keep friends without having to scare them into submission.
Eyes were rolled when she then commented that she was sure that he had been paying that much attention to her and then called him a stalker. She was acting like she was two years old rather than in her second to last year of high school. It was just a guess, dear. Don't flatter yourself, that would be a waste of my time. He stated blandly. She really did seem to bring out the worst in him since he was really not known for having a foul attitude but it came to play when she was around him. He was focused on jogging and making sure that he kept both feet working in a rhythm and watching to make sure that she was not going to trip him as well as he glanced at her. Don't twist my words, I never said a single thing about you not being capable. He uttered and that was true, he had just told her that ruling a country was going to be very lonely for her if she continued up with this attitude. I just stated that if you continue with the attitude and scaring people away that it might be very lonely for you. He uttered with a shrug. Well I guess in that case its a good thing you have siblings in order to carry on the line of succession then or did you leave that factor out of the equation. He could not believe that this was what he was arguing with her about but really he could not help the comments that flowed so easily now and completely unbidden. No matter what though she remained with him when they were jogging like she was actually enjoying this he could not believe that he was going to get put through this for the remainder of track practice. How old are you again? Because that seems like something that a five year old would do? He uttered back. His eyes were dark with the anger and frustration. She then caught him off guard how after a moment of silence she asked the question nicely and he was able to release the feelings of hostility and prove that he was not such a terrible guy by his tone softening only slightly. I am sure you could answer that question; but yes because you asked nicely I do enjoy running. He wanted badly to add that he really did not enjoy running with her but that did not seem like it was something that was appropriate. tagged; desyx renee of the netherlands

[/img] Desyx always thought sleeping was for when you were dead. There was much more things to do now while she was young to so much as bother with just sleeping when she was supposed to now. While she had the chance, she was going to enjoy herself as much as possible as even Des realized that she was not going to young forever as much as she wished that was true. Now was the time for her to be a teenager, she was not going to have a chance at being a kid forever and some people did not understand that it was best for her to drain that out of her system now instead of later.Okay so maybe sometimes she took that to a little extreme. Her grades reflected that right now she was not taking school as seriously as she should be and her parents had started to get after her for that, it had only taken them a few years to actually care. She was waiting for them to do something about it as they had not even paid attention prior. Even with her title, she knew that she needed to keep her mind set on working a little harder for her marks if she wanted to get into a decent university as a princess should. She definitely would not be heading somewhere like the University of Montana, instead her sights were set on the more prestigious universities which definitely meant she needed to start working her ass off otherwise she was not going to make the cut. Even then it was not as easy as that, there were far better distractions than schoolwork at Vineheart and the surrounding areas, there was always something going on to draw her attention elsewhere so it was not like it was fully her fault. She was busy and things just happened to overlap on her schedule. She kept promising herself that next year the same thing would not happen, that she would settle down and start working more on school although who was she kidding? Her priorities still were not straight even if she liked to think so. She always liked to think that she knew exactly what she was doing even if she didn't. She knew little about Ian, well no one really seemed to know about them either as there were names dropped constantly although his was not on that list aside from a few brief mentions when Arietta was involved. Of course Des was dying to hear the scoop on him yet she knew better than to allow that to show. She managed to master the completely disinterested facade whenever someone was mentioned as she listened nonchalantly to the conversations going on around her. That worked out the best for her since the girls loved going on and trying to get her interest though it rarely prevailed. When she managed to upset Ian, she felt quite triumphant because it was proving to be easier to get to him than she had originally thought. Never before had she heard him say much of anything yet he was surprisingly quick to jump to his and Arietta's defense, charming or whatever that was supposed to be, she really did not care aside from provoking him. Arietta was easiest enough for her to dismiss as she really had no care for the girl, she was far too good for Des's taste so it was nothing for her to start making snarky comments to bait her servant with.
There was no reason for her to bother with what he might think of her, really he was a no body to her and that was all he was ever going to be. She did not care how childish she was being then as it did register in her mind but she was not going to back down to his comments either. She was far too stubborn and irritated to do anything of that sort. His comments were meeting hers easily and she was not thrilled in the least with this as she did not tolerate it well when people actually tried to defend themselves as well, especially when he was trying to turn around and make bitter comments towards her as well. The temptation to trip him again was getting stronger by the moment but she managed to refrain as she was actually somewhat amused by his comments even if they were pissing her off at the same time. Eyes were rolled once more as he seemed to think that he knew that she had no chance in marrying anyone and the comment was truly getting to her yet she could not allow it to show due to her own pride. That's none of your business. She snapped quickly at him, still jogging easily and not losing her pace. He then brought up her having siblings for succession purposes and she glared at him. And you are honestly bringing that up? He was even more irritating than she ever accounted for, no wonder no one ever bothered talking to him. He was very close to earning himself another trip but he then asked her how old she was. You're not sounding any better at this point, honestly. She stated bitterly. The hostility was temporarily put on hold as she finally managed to ask the question in a way that he would actually answer it. Why was she even bothering in attempting to play nice anyway? It was not like the coaches were paying attention now in order to wiggle her way out of it. Maybe she could just ditch and they would not even notice, then again she was with the captain who would rat her out without a doubt. He finally admitted that he enjoyed running although the answer had been bluntly obvious before she had even bothered to ask. That's exciting. She commented sarcastically. It was taking her nothing to figure him out. For one, talking to him was like pulling teeth. He obviously was not the least bit social and therefore was completely written off as someone for her to ever waste her time with. Plus he seemed very much like the goody two shoes type to her, he and Arietta were quite the boring pair.

Honestly she seemed like the type of girl that was a party animal because that was what she could get away with while being young and not looking too out of place just because she could be. Who really wanted to party that hard when you woke up the next day feeling and looking like shit though? He did not fall into that category and really she might have been accurate in thinking that sleeping was for when you were dead if that meant that she did not sleep in the night after a party because therefore there was as much time being wasted sleeping then than there was with someone that was not partying. That was not saying that he did not party because he did quite often, when he got the chance to go out and have a couple beers and get a buzz in order to take the edge off. Aurelia was often his favourite to call up in order to come with her, the other servant was someone that he had always gotten along so well with, the two of them were not open at all to anyone and yet they managed to get along just fine with a common understanding. It was true that they were not going to be young forever and he really did need to start thinking about what it was going to mean when he finished school and then went to university. Did he want to be a servant for the rest of his life or did he want to go on to pursue his own dreams. Really right now he did not seem to have too much figured out for his own dreams though and therefore he really did need the time to think about it. He really could not picture himself working for Arietta the rest of his life even as great of a job as it was. There was too much out there for him and he did not want to be tied to someone elses schedule and moving around as often as she did forever. He did not like to travel which was something that was kind of strange. After four years of the plane rides all over the world you would think that he would have gotten the hang of it and therefore took the time on the plane to relax but it was quite the opposite since he always felt like he needed to get up and stretch and walk around and he hated that he was confined to the small quarters. He just needed to get over it though since that was a large part of his life right now and that was not going to change so the last thing he needed was to drive himself really insane by it. Even though he was so quick to jump to conclusions about Desyx and think the worst of her though he really did find that he did not know anything about her and he did not know at all what it was like for her to be first in line and have all that pressure riding on her shoulders. He did feel bad for it since it always seemed like they were forced to grow up so young but then again she did not seem to be growing up at all so she was on the opposite end of the spectrum. Normally he would have long since dismissed her from his thoughts though but whether it was the fact that he was being forced to run with her or the fact that he had nothing else to think about right then and there he did not know but his mind was on the princess.
He really did like that she did not know too much at all about him, he was not all that intersting of a topic in the first place and did not like to be talked about, he realized that this school was small and therefore everyone knew all of what was going on at one given time but he was pleased to remain completely a secret from most of the people there, he was just a servant and one to not be thought twice about since he did not stick out in any way. He did not like that he had allowed his emotions to show when she managed to get under his skin and vowed that it was not going to be happening again. He did realize that Des was probably saying all this about Arietta in order to get him mad so that meant that he was just going to have to do his best to ignore it, not because he did not want to jump to her defense since that was in his nature and should be as her servant but because he knew that it was not going to do any good. She was not going to stop. She snapped at him that it was none of his business when he then brought up that he did not mean that she was not going to be a successful Queen but rather that it was going to be lonely for her. He was a little smug when he managed to anger her. He even surprised himself when he brought up the line of succession and he shrugged when she asked if he was honestly going to bring that up. It's a valid point. He uttered pretending like it was nothing more than a matter of fact question to ask. Your comebacks are just so original, where did you manage to come up with this? He asked mischevious sparkle to azure colored eyes. He shook his head when she asked if he liked to run and he answered to only be graced with a snide comment of how exciting it was. Your the one that asked. He reminded her. Besides praying on innocent people what other hobbies do you have? He asked but really did not expect her to answer given the way he asked the question. tagged; desyx renee of the netherlands

[/img] Sure she enjoyed having a good time but she was not stupid by any means. There weren't nights where she blacked out, she realized how risky and down right idiotic that was. She had no plans of being abducted by any means so therefore she did not stray too far from the social circle of Vineheart itself. As far as she liked to think, she knew how to have a good time but meanwhile it was not like she was going completely wild, half the time she was acting more drunk than she really was. Even if she was "playing it safe" by her own terms, her parents would have probably thought otherwise and would have serious problems with her and she knew it. The key was not getting caught of course and after learning the tricks from the Queens she had caught on quickly.By the dictionary definition, Des was by no means stupid really. Sure there were times when she had her own take on reality but she was not stupid. There were subjects she was naive about, yes and things that she did not take seriously as she should but she had not been raised as a fool. She kept trying to put off the idea of really trying in school but she knew that soon enough it really would be time to hunker down and deal with it, she just was not quite ready to snap fully into that mindset. The University of Montana was not in her sights although neither was one of the big leagues at this point though she knew that she wanted something above average though she was going to have to prove herself to get there. Had she not taken as much of a free ride as possible to this point, there was a good chance that those higher league colleges would have been brighter in her future but now it was a little rough to think like that. Every time she seemed to sit down and think about the big picture of college, something turned around to steal her attention. There was a lot for her to think about ultimately, after all she would be stepping up to reign over an entire country one day, that was something that could not be forgotten and even if she did not admit it to anyone, let alone herself, she really did get a little uptight with that idea.It was a daunting task and could even shake her confidence which generally nothing did. When she should be growing up, she was known for doing the opposite though this was only what happened under certain circumstances involving certain people. Ian, well he just happened to be one of those people that ended up in the crossfires without any particular reasons behind it all. Had the coach not summoned the both of them to running, she would have long since moved onto her next target but now she had no other options aside from the guy she was now stuck jogging with, even if it had been her fault in the first place. Did she really want to be there wasting her time with Ian? No, of course not. Sure she was slightly curious about him but that was only slightly, plus she always figured out what she wanted from other people.
If he liked that she did not know much about him, well she could promise that was something that would be changing as soon as possible. She did not like being in the dark about him as she felt she was, every servant had something behind them whether they liked to admit it or not or so this was how Des saw it. She had found out something already, that he was very protective of Arietta so therefore it was very easy for her to take down two birds with one stone by ranting about her disapproval of the Italian princess and therefore aggravating her servant in the same blow. In Des's terms, that was one of the best deals out there seeing as he actually tried to defend himself and say something back to her which she was not used to but definitely amused by. She was rather offended by his comment on saying that her life as a queen would be lonely but she could not let him get away with that. Somehow he would come to regret that comment, that was something she was adamant about. Succession was another topic that nearly caused her to bristle as she shot back at him that it was not any of his business, which it was not and she ignored his comment abut it being a fact. Shooting a glare at him, she shook her head and bit back a comment when he asked where her comebacks came from, clearly implying that they were not original but she was frustrated to the point where she could not think as easily as she was used to. He was beginning to bore her as he seemed so....normal. Well she had known that he was that way from the start really, he was nothing special to her. But she had not expected for him to be this boring, honestly. He was like talking to a rock, a very good looking rock but still a rock. When he turned around to ask her about her own hobbies, she was then again mildly amused. Oh so you are innocent? Really Mr. Perfect? She asked, raising a brow in clear interest at this before rolling her eyes. Aside from that note, she then paused to brief over what she was going to say as her own hobbies though she could not deter the sarcastic comments that came next. Hmmm that would be drowning puppies and exotic dancing, though the dancing is only on Friday and Saturday nights- in case you wanted to know. Smirking lightly after saying this, she continued jogging triumphantly without so much as missing a beat.

Everyone always seemed to think that Vineheart was so safe, well what were to happen when they were then going to get out into the real world where there would not be guards right around the corner to make sure that nothing was going to get through the walls of fortitude that the school seemed to put up in order to keep some very important members of the Royal family safe. What happened when she went to college or university and there was only her own guards to worry about her? Then things would have to be a lot different so he assumed but then again he was in the dark about a lot of things like that since he really did not know how any of it worked. The only experience he had was seeing Arietta and Romeo's brother go off to college and by that time he had seemed so grown up, unlike the rest of the students that were here so if Des really wanted to be taken seriously when she managed to graduate the next year there was a lot of changing to happen between now and then. He did not even know why he was thinking too far into this though, perhaps to just keep his mind off other things and just keep his mind functioning so that he did not fall asleep himself on the jog around the track. While he might not mind jogging he really wished that he had brought his iPod with him or had some other source of entertainment since the princess of the Netherlands seemed to be giving him the cold shoulder now. Really he did not blame her since he had not been the nicest but then again wasn't the golden rule, treat others the way you want to be treated? Really it did not matter to him that she was a princess and a future ruler, she was still a classmate and the same age as him and he was not going to allow status to cause him to bow down to her and see no wrong in her actions. She was still wrong and there was no use in even denying it since there had been no reason for her to trip him. At least not in his mind there wasn't. For college he was glad that he really did not have to think too much about it, Arietta would decide on that and then he would be going wherever she chose, he wanted to make sure that his grades were immaculate anyways though, so that if the time did come to go to a large ivy league school that he felt like he could have gotten in there even not working for the princess of Italy. He really did not know what her plans were though because lately she had been so busy with other things that really the two of them had not even been allotted the time to get to sit down and talk like they used to do. That was the reality of getting older though and he knew that she was adjusting to having even more responsibilites thrown in her direction. That was not a bad thing, just something to get used to. He really did not know what to think of actually being forced to spend this much time with the girl given that he would have long since walked away as well if it had been one of their regular conversations that ended in snide comments and rude remarks, then again this was not too much of a normal situation at all since they were going to be forced to run for a lot longer than he wanted to.
It was not that he was hiding his past from them all persay it was just that it was never something that came up in conversation and not something that he wanted to talk about. He did not like people knowing that would possibly then use it against him when he was not watching his back if he was going to tell someone about it he wanted it to be someone that he knew that he could trust no matter what. And here at Vineheart only Arietta managed to get that sort of trust from him and even then she really did not push his past out of him. She really did not have much too much to say about when he uttered that it was a good thing that her siblings were going to be able to carry on the line of sucession and even though it was awkward for him he felt like he really might have struck a nerve there and that he might have finally gotten past those huge walls that she threw up in defense. He shrugged when she commented that he was innocent and a small smirk crossed his face to settle lightly on his lips. He knew that he was by no means innocent in this conversation. He knew that he was dishing out as much as she was. I might not go so far as to say that but when you tripped me I certainly was. He uttered. But really I suppose its just a perspective. He murmered focusing a lot more on running and making sure that she was not going to do the same again because the last thing he wanted to do was fall on his face again. She commented about her hobbies and eyes were rolled. Well you see I am really not into the girls that leave nothing up for the imagination, so exotic dancing is really not all too appealing to me but thanks for letting me know. He stated. His tone was level and calm now and it was apparent that he was able to handle his thoughts and emotions a lot better than he had been earlier where she had been getting to him. Well if you will excuse me as much of a delight as this jogging with you has been I am going to get on with the rest of my day now. He uttered as the rest of the team was then excused from the practice and strides did not even falter on the direction of the changerooms where he looked forward to a shower. Really wish bickering with her it did not seem to take all that long for the practice to pass him by. tagged; desyx renee of the netherlands notes; end here and I can start a carnival thread or something?
