Dritan stood in his dorm room that evening and was looking at himself in the mirror above the sink. Simple shirt with some dark pants but definately not a tie. Tonight was not the night for ties, although the bow tie was temping to throw on for some class. However this was not some fabuluous date with a girl that he actually wanted to get into his bedroom. This was dinner with his sister, which was sort of a date... they had set a time and location which was characteristic of a date. Yet did a date have to be between two people looking to be with each other romantically or did this classify as a date? While he stood there looking at himself he kept thinking it over before he realized that he was late. The clock next to his bed said 6:55 pm and he was supposed to be there at 7pm and it would definately take more than five minutes to reach his destination. So quickly he got on some shoes and his wallet before running out the door. The plan was to meet her there so he ran downstairs and to the street at the entrance of Vineheart.
He jumped into a taxi and told the guy where to go and to make it fast. He sat back in the taxi and just glanced out the window with a pretty blank stare on his face. What sort of things would he talk about with his sister? All he knew was that she liked to go ice skating and she did some cooking and she was shorter than he was. That was not really a whole lot of information and maybe he had been too busy with his own life to realize that she had a life too. Her life was important to him and weighed heavily onto his future. Scary to think that his life depended on her and her ability to love him. Finally the taxi pulled up to the resturant and Dritan paid the man before jumping out and running inside.
The doors flung open as he ran inside and quickly forced himself to a stop on the slippery tile. A dramatic entrance for him and some seemed to notice while other just went about thier eating and drinking. Quickly he pulled out his cell phone and checked the time. 7:13pm. So she should have been there and for a moment he stood there like a lost little puppy as his eyes scanned the crowd for her face. Maybe she stood him up? But that was unlike her. So she must have been there some where and through all of the dark mood lighting Dritan could not see her. He shoved his hands into his pockets and just kept waiting in hopes that she would motion for him and arrive shortly after him. But right now it was just awkward and probably would be for a while.

can we PRETEND that airplanes in the NIGHT sky are like shooting STARS
i could REALLY use a wish right now, WISH right now, wish right NOWShe hadn’t taken very long to get ready, she had honestly been more worried about being late than anything else. So she made sure to get ready with enough time so that she’d be at the restaurant by seven ‘o’clock. It was actually still kind of weird for her, the thought of even having dinner with her brother when it wasn’t something they had to do. But so many things had changed in the past few weeks, that this didn’t seem like such a bad idea anyway. So she showered and she pulled out of of her nicer dresses. She knew that the lantern had a dress code so that the better you looked, the better the service was. Even though she found that concept a little frivolous she would try her best to follow it in the first place. When she was finished blow drying her hair, and she was putting on the small amounts of make-up she wore she decided to call a cab so that it would be waiting for her as soon as she was ready. Sure enough the company said that the cab would be waiting for her outside of Vineheart in twenty minutes which gave her enough time to finish getting ready.
By the time that fifteen minutes had rolled around she was basically all ready to go, but she was a little hesitant to head out. It was still cold outside and even though her dress wasn’t the shortest one in the world, it wouldn’t do much to protect her legs from the cold. Deciding that she’d have to just brave the air, she headed out, making sure she had everything she needed in her clutch. By the time she managed to get to the gate of the school, a cab was waiting for her which made Ari glad. It would have been a rather large pain to actually have to wait for the cab driver in the cold. She gave him the address of the lantern and she waited as he drove her into Rexford. The drive itself was at least twenty minutes so she had a lot of time to think. She had been dodging calls from her parents all week, she was still mad about them over the stupid arranged marriage thing and she was aware that the faster that February passed them by the closer they were to that stupid spring break deadline. She just hoped that she’d find something to convince her parents that Dritan was more than capable of taking the throne for himself, and letting him have his place back in the succession line. And she was also hoping that with that, the talk of her arranged marriage to Stefan would die with it. But right now it was all a matter of hoping, and just waiting to see how things would turn out.
But she focused back on reality enough to realize that they were nearing her destination, and she pulled out her phone to see that she would end up getting to the restaurant a little before seven. Good, she hated being late. Sure enough five minutes later the cab pulled up in front of the lantern. She paid him, and with one last thank you she made her way inside. She was asked if it would be just her, as she got to the door, and she said no, saying her brother would be joining her. With a nod she was led toward one of the corners of the restaurant, closest to the windows. She settled down and waited, and as her phone marked seven she kept on glancing at the entrance. He was late. She wasn’t sure if she should bother waiting or not, after all he could have very easily forgotten they were doing this and she was going to look rather stupid just sitting here the whole night. But about ten minutes later she saw another cab pull up and sure enough, her brother piled out of the car. She took that moment to signal the server, and ask him to please direct her brother to their table because she was sure that he wouldn’t hear her from this distance. The server nodded and he headed towards Dritan who was standing near the entrance with his hands shoved into his pockets. Your highness, your sister is already waiting, if you’ll follow me to the table

Was he late for this occasion? Probably but if he had been asked about it then he knew actually how he would repsond to his sister. There was this cute little saying that he heard in a movie and then read in a book. A wizard is never late... he shows up exactly when he intends to. He tried that on his father but his father responded with a stern lecture and talking to that bored Dritan to death. A couple of promises to never be late again before he was able to leave his father's company. When he was king then he assumed he would have someone to take care of the time keeping stuff for him but as a Duke he would just have Heidi. First he had to make sure that she stayed around past graduation. Who would keep track of him then and baby sit him as she did? There would be no other baby sitter as good as Heidi, so he had to make her stay. Hell he'd love her if it would make her stay.
For those few moments he felt like an idiot just standing there and looking around at the hostest and the wait staff. The moments seemed to drag on and for once he just stood there quietly. His right hand felt the folded up piece of paper where he wrote everything down for Ari. Who she should trust, who would try and steal from her, and which people to be extra nice to. It wasn't really a long list but it was what he remembered for the time being. There was this feeling deep down inside of him, call his envy that his sister would be queen, but it made him want to just crumble up the paper and toss it into the cigarette tray to be burnt up. To help her do well would make him happy but to watch her do it upset him slightly. It was his throne and it had been for almost 18years. He could just taste the feeling of power on his lips before his father yanked it away from him.
Luckily before his thought got any worse a waiter stepped over and told him that his sister was already at a table. Thank god she didn't stand me up he thought as he followed the waiter to this table. When he finally saw his sister he smiled. "Ari! I thought you stood me up" He said and held out his arms for a hug as he approached the table. For a moment he wondered if she would get up and hug him. It would be unlike her but he was trying to be friendly and loving towards her. A hug would be a great start to thier dinner but if she wasn't feeling up to it then Dritan would sit down on his side of the table.
He looked like an idiot just standing there with his arms open and the bright smile on his face. "Did you find this place alright?" He asked to make conversation since he just got there. "Lets eat quickly so we can get all of the talking done before this curfew thing."

can we PRETEND that airplanes in the NIGHT sky are like shooting STARS
i could REALLY use a wish right now, WISH right now, wish right NOWShe played with a strand of her hair, her mind had been reeling since their return to Vineheart as to what could happen to make their parents understand that she didn’t want to be queen. She could still remember Dragan’s face when she told him about the arranged marriage. It scared her to think that her relationship could probably end because of her parent’s thoughtless decisions. Sure they believed that they were doing what was best for their children, but they were effectively messing up her life. And she wasn’t even being overly dramatic because she had never wanted to be queen. She had always been content with the idea of being a princess, maybe marrying someone else who wouldn’t inherit the throne and leading a somewhat normal life. But that hadn’t been in the books, and it stressed her out. But she pushed all thoughts aside as she noticed that the waiter was leading her brother toward her. It was completely rude to not greet a person when they were approaching you, and even though she hadn’t been groomed to be a queen, she had been groomed to be a princess, a proper one. So she rose, to greet her brother, who was saying that he had thought that she was standing him up. She was a bit more surprised when he opened his arms for a hug, given they had never been too affectionate.
“I would never stand you up” she said, deciding that a hug wouldn’t be bad, and she hugged her brother, before sitting back at her end of the table.
When her brother was seated, the waiter gave him a menu and then Ari herself opened it up to see what she could have. She didn’t want anything that was too heavy because she had practice in the morning, and she was learning more towards pasta because that was easy to burn in the morning. But she wasn’t entirely sure, the waiter asked for their drink orders and Ari asked for a lemonade, and after the waiter took Dritan’s order she turned her attention back on the menu. So many options, and Ari had a feeling that the lantern tried to adapt cuisine from a lot of different places in an attempt to cater to the royals who tended to dine here a lot. There were a few restaurants in the strip, but they weren’t classified like the lantern, it was basically the go to place that was quick. Sure the pine lodge was a good place too, but that was farther away, a good hour, and well not many students were willing to travel so far for good food. She put her menu down for a second, as she looked at her brother, he had cleaned up rather nicely, which didn’t surprise her. She knew that he had all the princely potential when he tried, but given that he had spent most of his time focusing on partying and having fun, she had never seen him like this outside of Albania. She was sure if her parents saw him like this, they would change their minds, he looked like the future ruler of Albania.
“Have you talked to mother or father yet?” she asked, curious as to maybe their parents trying to contact him to see if he had changed his ways since December.

There was a reason why Dritan didn't believe in arranged marriages and that was because he thought people should be happy. If that happened to be with the person you were in an arranged marriage with then wonderful but Dritan did not love Bethany at all. In fact he was angry at her for the fact that she would leave him but now he was focusing his energies on one person specifically. His servant Heidi. She was pretty and kept him on his toes plus she would make sure that he was clean. Together he imaged them being Duke and Duchess in some little house in the middle of no where Albania. Of course he would have to enlighten his sister to his new plan so she could be happy for him and stop worrying about him. It seemed like she was always worried about him for no reason what so ever.
"I would take it as a personal offense if the Queen of my lovely country would stand me up on this lovely evening." He commented and then took his seat across from her after the hug. "I think that I would be more offended though that my sister didn't want to have dinner with me." he added real quick to prevent her from commenting about the queen thing. Of course he knew that she hated it but she would have to get used to it. A smile appeared on his face as he made himself comfortable in the chair. Just in time to be handed a menu.
He leaned it against the table and opened it up. His eyes found the drink menu and since the waiter was still standing there he ordered a coke before the waiter could run off. Then he looked back at the menu just to settle his stomach on what he wanted. A steak sounded so good and it would get Heidi off of his back about eating, he might even bring her some left overs. Then his sister spoke so he looked up back at her. "Probably... but I often forget my phone in my room. They know they should just call Heidi if they wish to speak to me." He answered her and kind of shurgged his shoulders in responce to her question.
"I image they call you everyday... well at least dad does. Do you have any questions that I might be able to answer? I do know alot about this ruling thing." This was his subtle way of offering to help her. Hopefully she understood that he did mean her well and he did want to help her. He folded up the menu and placed it off to the side since he already knew what he was going to order. Then he picked up the napkin and laid it out on his lap like he had been taught since he was a small boy.
"I will give you the low down on who to trust and who to avoid when we aren't some place so public. They have spys all around us." He probably sounded like a lunatic but he just smiled and laughed at his comment. "But seriously... dad is to be trusted and I am to be trusted." He explained as they sat there. Hopefully she did not find him dull and awful company. Dritan would be just mortified if his own sister hated to be seen with him.

can we PRETEND that airplanes in the NIGHT sky are like shooting STARS
i could REALLY use a wish right now, WISH right now, wish right NOWShe wished that he would cut it out with the queen comments, it was one of the few things she hated. She didn’t want to be referred to as a queen, that had never been her life goal and it would never be her life goal. She just wanted to live as simple a life as she could, without having to worry about who would end up stabbing her in the back. After all she knew that was one of the major worries of all rulers, who you should trust and who you should keep at a distance. Heck right now she had enough issues really knowing who she could trust with her secrets or who she couldn’t. Her last conversation with Dragan was still very present in her mind and his uncertainty over her situation still hurt her. She didn’t want to think of the possibility of losing her relationship over something she had no real control over. But still she threw her brother a glare at the queen comment as she settled down after the hug, but it softened a little with his later comment. It was nice that they were slowly getting over their aversion to one another, but it was bad that they had found some sort of bonding time because of an idiotic situation.
“Don’t call me queen, you know I hate it” she said, “Especially when it’s not in my plan to even become queen. You know that better than most people”
Her brother had seemed to just accept that he had gotten thrown aside, which was ironic because he had been so mad about their parent’s decision at the beginning. But there was no way that she was giving up, she was going to have her semblance of a normal life if it killed her. Well that was a rather melodramatic though because she was sure it wouldn’t go that far, but still she didn’t want any of this. She wanted her parents to just understand that they were making a rather large mistake and just fix it all. She didn’t really glance at the menu until he answered her question and then went on to say that her father probably called her daily. He hadn’t, apparently there was some big issue they had to handle within parliament, and that was fine with her because she didn’t want to speak to her parents right now. She shook her head when he said if she had any questions, she didn’t feel the need to ask questions because it wasn’t in her mind to just take things as they were. At the beginning it had looked like she was accepting the fact, but the more she thought about it and the fact that it kept on messing with her life even more, well she decided that she never wanted to rule. Still she gave him a questionable look when he said that there were spies all around them, it sounded kind of paranoid and a bit out of this world. She understood that there were political spies, but everywhere seemed a bit too drastic.
“I think that might be a bit of an overstatement Dritan, the spies thing” she said, “I know I can trust you guys, but it’s pointless to teach me all of this. I’m not going to rule, I’ve told you this many times. I don’t care if I have to run away, I’m not doing it”

Why did he continue to refer to her as queen even when she told him time after time that she hated it? It was probably his sick need to extract revenge on his baby sister for allowing all of this to happen but he knew it was not her fault. There was nothing she could have done to prevent that photographer from getting that picture and there was no way she could have stopped her parents from making their decision. Still it was the most polite way he could get revenge on someone but he knew that he had to stop. She was uncomfortable and he did not want that for her. He wanted trust and love between them since they were siblings. So he nodded when he told him yet agian that she hated to be called queen. "I do know that sis. But easter is fast to approach and dad has yet to calm down and change his mind." He reminded her.
Dritan knew thier father very well since they spent a good amount of time together and it was not like him to hold a grudge so the only conclusion Dritan could think of was that he was serious. Serious enough to not even call Dritan or Heidi to speak to Dirtan. It amused Dritan when Heidi would storm into his room and hand him her phone before giving him a lecture on turning his phone on. "Are we going back to Albania for Easter this year?" He asked since the thought just occured to him. Would thier father really make this announcment without Ari present? Probably not and then Dritan would have to face public humiliation. Not just public but entire country humilitation.
It was not that he was accepting of his new position in life but really he had given up trying to fight it. He lost it through his own stupid means and now he was just trying to figure out life since it was going to happen sooner or later. If for some reason he got the throne back then he would run through the halls of the palace naked and screaming for joy because he wanted it. He had always wanted to be king. "Oh come on Ari... spies are totally real!" He replied and smiled so she knew that he was joking about it. Spies were real but at least none of them knew about Vineheart.
"So... I heard rumors that you are getting married to the Swiss. Dad did not waste any time in that arrangment." He commented. "Though I suppose getting into an arranged marriage is one thing but getting out is an entirely different can of worms." He spoke from experience since his future wife barely spoke to him yet they would still get married. There were ideas and most of them involved someone leaving the other person at the alter but he doubted that would happen. Oddly enough he wanted Bethany to be happy and if that mean not married to him then so be it.

can we PRETEND that airplanes in the NIGHT sky are like shooting STARS
i could REALLY use a wish right now, WISH right now, wish right NOWShe knew that they really hadn’t made progress with their father, but she felt a pressure now that she knew what her parents were planning. With her relationship with Dragan barely hanging by a thread thanks to the news of her arranged marriage, she had a hope that they managed to convince their parents that they were wrong, before they made the public announcement. Even though everyone at Vineheart knew, but still the public didn’t know. She wanted them to understand that saddling her with the responsibility of running a country was not right, especially when her brother was the one meant for it all. Especially considering how much it had affected her relationship already, and well she was afraid that if they didn’t convince their parents to let Dritan have his place in the line of succession that it would be the end of her relationship because it would be basically impossible for her to convince them to end her arranged marriage. It was a scary concept, and her brother referring to her as queen wasn’t helping the situation. If she had it her way, she’d lock herself away in her room threatening to never come out unless everything resolved itself. But that would be immature, and well she didn’t need to give her parents more reason to want to “mature” her up.
“There has to be a way, but you calling me that doesn’t help” she said, “It only makes matters worse, in this whole complicated ordeal”
At his question for Easter she shook her head, she would remain at Vineheart. If they wanted her to go back, they’d have to drag her there because there was no way that she was going. He could go if he wished, but she’d remain her and just throw herself in her things. She had practice, and she had a puppy to maintain, so there was no need for her to return to Albania for two weeks. Plus it was kind of hard to make an announcement without all of the children present, so she hoped that maybe in the days it would take one of her parents to fly to Vineheart and try to get her back, that it would buy them more time. Either way she was not setting foot in Albania until she had to, which would be the summer, and even then she might even go hide with Julia for a few weeks. She pushed all the thoughts away as he said that spies were totally real, and she found herself rolling her eyes. Really, that was just a preposterous idea, at least to her. His last comment made her look up at him, well that was a chipper comment. The last thing she wanted was to marry Stefan, he liked Aisling, Aisling was her friend. She already had a boyfriend, she didn’t need her parents to arrange a marriage for her when she was only fifteen. It was stupid, she wasn’t so ditzy to marry someone who she didn’t love, and yet here were her parents trying to show her what was good for her.
“Well thanks for that chipper comment, here I was thinking I’d be able to get out of it with your support” she said, “I don’t need them meddling in my life more than they already have. It’s why you need to take the throne, I’m sure once their idea of my taking the throne dies, the arrangement will die with it. The stupid arrangement hasn’t even been made public and it’s already messing with my life”

His fate was getting closer and closer to becoming permate and Dirtan did not like it one bit. He didn't like the idea of going to college and then not becoming King or working at some lowly job where people would make fun of him. The Almost King of Albania. Oh he could just hear their taunts now in his mind and he hated it. He was supposed to be king and he was supposed to assume the throne shortly after he graduated from Vineheart. At the same time he was also supposed to marry Bethany but that seemed like an epic failure of an idea. Maybe their father was going crazy in his old age? Seemed logical enough for Dirtan since old people often lost thier minds and he was pretty sure that their father lost his mind. The people of Albania seemed to forgive his mistake pretty easily and even Heidi didn't lecture him about it often. If Heidi could forgive him then so shouldn't his father and mother. Heidi was much stricter than his parents and she hit him unlike his parents. Honestly his cheeks still stung from where she pinched them to make her point. One of his hands instinctively moved up and began to rub the side of his face while they were talking.
"Calm down... I will stop calling you Queen Ari. Why does everyone feel the need to lecture me so often?" He commented and glanced down at the table in front of them. The linens were very nice but not as nice as the stuff they kept at the palace. Thier mother always had the servants get out the best linens for the most important events and he got a little sad about the fact that the next time they would be coming out was not for his coronation. It was supposed to happen within the year and then followed by his marriage a few weeks later. Now all he had to look forward to was college without Heidi. Dritan was not sad by all of the stuff he was loosing out on and he was sad that his sister seemed to be angry with him about all of his comments. He was just trying to be a good big brother and be supportive. "I think that I will go home for Easter unless mom and dad want to come visit here. Don't they always talk about coming down here to visit us on holidays?"
It would be the first time he saw his parents since Christmas and like Ari he was not looking forward to it since it meant more lectures about responsibility. Stuff that Heidi told him daily, as if it was part of thier morning routine. "Well don't worry if they let me have the throne back then I will kill it for you. Arranged marriage seem so barbaric and I bet that I can get more political alliances if I just use my lovely witt and charms. Heidi tells me that I am very charming." He lied about that last part. Heidi laughed at his charms and made him feel like he was some idiot trying too hard.
"The biggest issue is getting mom and dad to see that I should be King." For once he finally got down to business with his sister. She didn't want the throne and Dirtan wanted it. Now they just needed a way to show thier parents that Dirtan was meant to be King. "Hey I have a question... my servant Heidi... she has family that works in the kitchen back at the palace. Right? An aunt or something? have you met them before?" If she asked his motives then he would lie about trying to court Heidi but it had been his intentions since he got his head out of his partying butt and saw her in a new light.
