Spring had come quickly and summer was even faster to approach. That meant things like Graduation and all of the summer events that filled up his social calendar. First there was a wedding to attend, a few summer parties that his parents threw, some political stuff, maybe his own wedding but that really wasn't at the top of his priorities. Actually he had resigned himself to marry her if that is how his parents still felt even after he lost the crown, but that was a low point in his life. A low point back in January that lead him to basically mope around until about Feburary when he found something more to his liking. His servant came to him and began to create a stiring in his heart that he could not explain. Why had he never noticed her before? Maybe she looked prettier now that he had been sober for longer than a few days. But she still wanted nothing to do with him and she still planned to leave him in a few short months to attend some Albanian college while Dritan would have to fight off attention while at some American Ivy university. His parents insisted that he find a new servant and pick the best college he could get into.
But then something else happened during the semester... something that he longed for more than he longed for Heidi. It happened over the spring break time period and since both Albanian children were being difficult thier parents came to visit. Dritan had been sitting with Ari in the hotel room just watching tv when she told him that she was scared about being Queen and everything. So he did what any older brother would do and he comforted her with nice words and advice so she would be strong. Apparently this impressed thier parents in some way and at dinner that night thier father announced that Dritan would get the crown afterall. Well it definately brightened up his mood for the remainer of the semester. Dritan strolled through the halls of Vineheart with a bright grin on his face and the confidence of a king. Enough confidence to convince Heidi to come to the Rose Ball with him.
So tonight he pulled out all of the stops for her, some lady to do her hair, a dress with matching jewerly, and a red rose for her. Now Heidi refused these things and told Dritan that she would be getting ready without his help so he came down early to wait for her. His suit was well pressed or at least as well at Dritan could manage with the iron but his bow tie looked nice. It was just a simple black suit with black pants and a black jacket but to spice it up he wore a bright red bow tie. Since he was waiting for people he stood at the door holding a two flowers. One red and one pink. The pink one was for his sister since he had exciting news for her.
As he stood there he twirled the end of his short mustache and tried to force the hair into the handlebar style. A future king with a mustache He thought to himself as he allowed another grin to appear on his lips. Women take forever to get dressed... i hate it. hurry up! He thought as well since he saw a few people starting to enter the event. Dritan was impatient at best so this was driving him up the wall. But he was an impatient king! who didn't have a coronation date quite yet. His father was still working out the details and he knew that the wedding might be holding up everything. Again he needed to talk to Bethany but tonight would be about him and Heidi... and Ari. He owed Ari a great deal of thanks. And he would repay her by making her a Duchess and in another way that he thought she would like better. Oh he just couldn't wait to tell her the wonderful news. Dritan looked almost giddy as he watched more people walk past him.
