Hair Dark chocolate brunette

Height 6”3
Features Riordan strikes an almost intimidating pose. With broad shoulders and a square jaw he looks every inch the prince he was born to be. He often changes his hairstyle from cut short and neat to a respectable length styled to perfection. He has a permanent tan which seems to define his muscles even more, in particular his rock hard abs – although he’s not quite bodybuilder size and has no intentions to be. He has no tattoos or piercings but hasn’t quite ruled them out yet. Riordan’s height adds to his stride which is particularly long often taking one stride for everyone else’s two. Riordan is not a vain guy but he knows that he is setting an example for his country so always dresses with care, mainly wearing classic cuts in neutral colours. However, he is not averse to brightening his wardrobe up with a plain coloured shirt or pin striping on a casual blazer. You will most likely never see him in a pair of joggers/sweatpants – not even when he’s exercising and jeans are also a rare occurrence. He also goes for good shoes brogues and Doc Martins rather than converse or hi-tops. Overall, his style is classy and timeless with modern flairs thrown in.

Personality
Quiet* While most would see this as a negative attribute it actually works for Riordan as he tends to listen to everything people say to him, digest it and think about an answer before talking. This comes from when he was younger people expected him to have opinions that he hadn’t grown into and he would take his time instead of just blurting something out to sound clever. It gave him an air of mystery and serenity as his slate grey eyes would cut through another person as they spoke finding every nuance, stress and pause. It also helps him decide who he wants around him. Once you have his respect, however, you will see that ‘quiet’ is almost too small a word for Riordan’s carefully planned tranquillity. It can also be taken as slightly threatening when used against people as they think he is judging them – which sometimes he is.
Loyalty* Riordan is an extremely loyal person to his family, his country and his friends. He has many acquaintances but few friends as he’s very careful who he lets get really close to him. He actually appears as a very sociable guy, he’s always seen with the right people but there are only a select few who have gained his trust and respect. Once they have it then they have it for life and if they break it then for Riordan it is pretty much the ultimate sin. It also means that he will do anything for his family, country and friends (unless it’s truly ridiculous like skydiving naked).
Responsible* There is a tremendous amount of responsibility resting on Riordan’s shoulders. As the first in line he is constantly scrutinised and is actually slightly envious of Zephyr’s ability to be able to have more of a laugh with friends. Sometimes Riordan does feel like he can’t really relax, he always has to be on alert, always has to be just-so and it can get tiring. He also feels responsible for some of his brother’s behaviour when his parents aren’t around to control it. While he knows that everyone must make their own mistakes in life he does try to guide Zephyr as much as he can without being too overbearing (and sometimes fails at that). Lastly he feels the responsibility to his country. Not only is he setting an example to his people, the rest of the world is watching him, waiting for him to make a mistake that would bring shame on Mexico. He also has a responsibility to himself. Riordan sets extremely high standards for his behaviour, appearance and manner. If he messes up his worst critic is himself.
Warm-hearted* There is a saying of ‘cold hands, warm heart’ and while Riordan’s hands aren’t always cold he does pretty much have a heart of gold. He is an advocate of peace and hates seeing people being abused or treated cruelly. He hates liars and bullies and simply has no time for them and will help anyone who is suffering as well as any animal. This started out when he was a little boy and simply grew as he saw more cruelty. He is a big supporter of many charities and believes in helping others whether that’s pouring money into an animal sanctuary or playing football with orphaned children. In this way Riordan is always giving something, even if it is only his time, to his people and his country.
Passionate* Riordan is a very passionate guy; he doesn’t do things by half. He loves his country with the whole of his being, his family with all of his heart and he would rather die than betray them. He is also passionate about a number of other things. This passionate side of him is when he starts to act rashly. It isn’t very easy to predict which way he’s going to go either. Sometimes he can control his own nature and be calm even when he’s angry but not everyone is perfect and he can lash out. Due to how kind and conscientious he is, this angry side of him doesn’t come out very often, unfortunately it can come out at the wrong time to the wrong person and he has pushed people away with his anger completely by accident which he then beats himself up for.

History
Riordan was born into a world of love, etiquette and propriety (not that he really knew that while tottering around). He was the first-born of Mexico’s royal family and was always treated as such. He was loved by his family, adored by the servants and his country. As a child he wasn’t always smiling and actually had quite a serious ‘resting face’ which was quite good for a state portrait but people were always trying to make him smile thinking that he wasn’t happy which was far from true. At least until there was a big hullaballoo again about something that wasn’t him. He hadn’t even turned one and suddenly he had a brother. After some initial confusion Riordan decide that it was a good thing to have a brother, now he had someone to boss around and play with.
As Riordan grew up through childhood he soon had ingrained in him that although he was not an only child, he was the one that everybody watched. He paid attention to his tutors, soaking up as much knowledge as he could. Knowledge was power and people wanted Mexico to be powerful. So Riordan studied and studied and studied so much that he realised he hated studying. He envied his brother who he would see running around outside while he had to be stuck inside…studying. He complained once of the amount of studying he had to do, his tutor had laughed and told him that if Riordan didn’t want to study so much, he would have come up with a way to help him remember important details. So that’s precisely what Riordan did. By the age of eleven no one could tell him how to study because he simply wouldn’t do it their way. He had his own method, tried and tested that suited him.
But it wasn’t just all work and no play, Riordan played with Zephyr a lot, often coming up with countless competitions just to see who the better prince was. They fought, scrapped and were scolded together but all in all had a whale of a time. Riordan became proficient in a number of sports and enjoyed keeping himself fit. Then he was sent away to Vineheart Academy. It was strange being so far away from his home but he knew that this was the best school for him. It was also where he found a distinct loathing for geography. He knew that he had to know some geography like where all the countries were but did he really need to know about their indigenous rocks as well? He still achieved good grades, even in subjects he wasn’t particularly fond of, mainly due to the harsh rules he set himself. When Riordan was in his third year at Vineheart he realised that he was an overachiever. It didn’t help him reign that side of his personality in, he actually saw it as a good thing. But when exams came around he pushed away a possible girlfriend and realised that sometimes it could be quite the negative focus. So he tried to be different, not caring so much about his grades. Riordan slipped down to average grades, but he had a good group of friends and was having quite a lot of fun, until he got a list of predicted grades and pushed everyone away again, practically barricading himself in his room to cram for a test. He ended up blowing the predicted grades out of the water and had the 6th best result in the class. Riordan came to the thought that he would never again change for any one person and got a new group of friends who accepted him for the weirdly studious guy he is.
In school, Riordan was surprised by how little he actually saw of his brother, and actually, how good that was. Riordan wanted Zephyr to find his own path and that began with school. Now he’s not the one to completely ignore his brother – especially when it seems like he’s playing girls yet again – but he won’t actively seek Zephyr out all the time. There is still a little bit of jealousy still swimming around in the back of his mind at how much more freedom Zephyr has but he doesn’t hold it against his little brother – not his fault that he was born second.
So he moved on from that and now he’s in his last year of school and looking at universities. Not entirely sure where he wants to go or what he wants to do but figures things will work out in the end after some severe panicking and several long conversations with the parents and friends.
