Scanning the quickly emptying room, Dom had the chance to observe the damage made during the night. Thankfully, the night was going to leave no lasting impression on the Ice Box but it was certain that the party goers would never be the same. The fact was true for nearly everything, though. Influences and events changed people, that much was undeniable. Except, with the amount of alcohol consumed that night, DJ was hoping that nothing horrible happened to anyone on their way home. Some had opted to bring their own car to the establishment that night, and responsibility could run dry at Vineheart. For the most part, they could be trusted not to do anything stupid, but every once in a while, someone would push the boundaries and cause a ruckus that got the rest of them in trouble. Technically, they weren’t supposed to be served alcohol, and if anything happened, the Ice Box was going to be in some serious shit, regardless of who bought the drinks or what was the context was. He looked briefly over to the door where the bouncers were checking people before they were sent off and hoped that they were doing their job properly. It was supposed to be a fun, happy night of celebration, which it had been, but that could be squashed in a minute.
Deciding that it was probably not his place to worry so much, regardless of the fact that he was one of the older attendees and could probably be held responsible in case anything happened, Dom finished his drink, only his second one of the night and gathered himself from his position at the bar. His watch told him that it was far later than he had originally anticipated, but he was hardly tired, still strung up from the party and eager to get along with the second part of the night. He looked around once more at the few people who still lingered, saying goodbyes to the birthday girls and heading on their way, exactly what he should be doing. He began his rounds with the English twins, wishing them a happy birthday again and then moved on to Mira, congratulating her on the party and hoping that she had another excellent year. They all seemed quite pleased with themselves and the mountain of gifts they’d received, and he had glad they’d enjoyed it all. Birthdays only came once a year, after all, and there was something particularly special about turning eighteen. His eighteenth birthday had been completely different than this huge bash held for the two sets of twins hitting the milestone, but had been nice nonetheless.
Quickly going to the coat check to grab his and Nada’s coats, he waited contentedly, talking to the last of the guests as they filed out, popping to said girl’s side when they finally trickled out the door. “Ready to go?” he asked, holding out her coat for her to put on. She looked happy, which was more than enough to put a smile on his face as he helped her with her coat.

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- The birthday party had gone on pretty well, she had been feeling that it would be kind of chaotic because it was not only two people, but four. Both sets of twins, that actually made her want to laugh because they were so close in age, Vivien and Gabriella had been born only a few days before Mira and Nada had been. It was also weird to admit and celebrate the fact that she was a twin, it was still something that was beyond awkward for her, but she was learning to accept it. She was learning to modify her thoughts concerning it, and she had done her best to enjoy the party. She had pushed all stresses of what was going on back home in Serbia to the back of her mind, and only focused on the fact that all of their friends were together and that they were having fun. The party had been an overall success and everyone had been more than generous with the presents. The table was basically overflowing, which tended to happen frequently. She had been careful about the drinking just because she still hadn’t had too much alcohol since before the accident. She could have had more than two martinis but she had opted against it, even though she knew it would take more than three to get her completely drunk.
People starting clearing out at the expected time, some people lingered to say their goodbyes and to congratulate them once again. After all they had hit a major milestone, eighteen, and they were technically adults now. Nada thanked the people who stopped to talk to her and she waved goodbye at Ana and her other friends who were now heading back to school. There had been a previous arrangement with some of the security that they would take the gifts back to school for the girls, given that they all had their names on them it would be easy to figure out which present belonged to whom. By the time that Dom came back with their coats, she was more than ready to go. She had been standing in heels all night and even though she was sure she could handle quite a few more hours she didn’t want to overdo it either. She said one final goodbye to Mira, Vivien and Gabriella giving them each a hug as she made her way back to Dom. She nodded when he asked if she was ready to go, and she slipped on her coat with his assistance. She was more than ready to go, it would be nice to be in a quiet place where there weren’t so many people to stare at her. Even though they were all her friends, she hadn’t really had a relaxing moment throughout the night. It had basically been all about dancing, taking pictures, and just commemorating the event. Even though her birthday technically wouldn’t be until Monday, but who cared about technicalities.
“I’m more than ready to go” she said as they headed out the door, “Finally some peace and quiet”

“Did you enjoy yourself?” Dom asked after helping Nada slide on her coat. It had seemed like she had been, but Dom knew that appearances could be deceiving, even when Nada was concerned. While he liked to pride himself on being able to easily pick up her moods, what kind of fiancée would he be if he didn’t? But he knew from experience that sometimes one had to fake amusement and play up the happiness card to keep others content. It had been something he’d had to do personally, quite a few times, and had become very convincing at. It didn’t take much more than a few smiles here, some ‘oh thank you’s placed sparingly and a little energy to keep moving to make it appear as if you were actually interested in what was going on. Lying, of course, was not something he’d particularly condone, but if it came to the benefit of others, he was willing to stretch the truth just a tad. Why have everyone else suffering just because you weren’t into it? As much as he’d like to stay truthful and always sincere, there were some things that were just a little more important.
“How do you think it went?” he asked casually, slinging an arm around her shoulder. To him, the party had been a success, but for all he knew, Nada had a completely different opinion on the matter. She’d been in the thick of it, while he’d only been on the outside looking in. As much as he had wanted to glue himself to her side for the evening, he wasn’t about to monopolize her time and attention when there were so many other people who deserved to have her grace them with her presence. It was a reward to be around her, no matter what other people may say. Nada made everything brighter, made colours more vivid and the world just a little better by being in it. How could anyone ignore that? And how could anyone not strive to make the celebration dedicated to honouring her birth, anything but perfect. Dom couldn’t fathom the idea that the night be anything less than spectacular for her, she deserved nothing but the absolute best in everything. Surely, he wasn’t worthy of her time either, but he wouldn’t deny her anything she wanted, and by some twisted turn of fate, he was the one she wanted. Now that was a spectacular feeling. The party could have been a complete disaster and he wouldn’t have noticed, far too concerned with Nada and her happiness than what everyone else was doing. That was exactly why his view of everything was always a little skewed; he was always wanting what was the best for her and nothing else. It made him quite blind to the rest of the world, or at least, in this case, the rest of the people at the party. To him, it was a success only if she was happy. If that was accomplished, it was perfect.
“Hope you’re not too worn out,” he chuckled once they had started walking, snatching up her free hand and lacing his fingers through hers, bringing the jigsaw of flesh and fingers up to his face and pressing his fingers to the back of her hand.

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- The party itself had been be fun, and everyone had a good time which had been important too. She had managed to talk to almost everyone she had invited at least once, and honestly by the end of it she had been tired especially given that she was wearing pretty high heels. Overall she had felt like the party had gone well and she had enjoyed herself, even if the only thing she really wanted to do right now was find a quiet place. It had been kind of loud in the ice box, with everyone talking and of course the music it had all ended up being quite a loud affair. Not that it was different for those who regularly frequented the ice box anyway, but she had only been in the establishment a few times in the past two years. She was just glad that it was all over, even though it had been fun. She would be happy to just spend some quiet time with Dom because even though he had been at the party the whole time they really hadn’t had much time together.
“I did enjoy myself, though I would have liked to spend more time with you instead of playing hostess” she said with a smile, “Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and the other girls had fun too. So I can pretty much say that this was a great party”
The bouncer held open the door for them as they walked out of the door and she was glad that she had thought to bring her coat because it was kind of chilly. Even though it wasn’t too late, well it was but it wasn’t five in the morning or something ridiculous like that, it was still cold. She focused on Dom when he said that he hoped she wasn’t too tired, and she really wasn’t all that tired. She was tired in the sense that she just wanted quiet and to not have to talk to a room full of people who wanted to wish you a happy birthday and give you hugs. And of course how everyone wanted to refill her martini glass even though it wasn’t even empty yet, she was lucky in that she drank slowly and didn’t drink a lot or else she would have ended up a bit drunk. But she was still very aware of everything, and she was glad that everyone was going home now. She could hear chatting as people waited for their rides back to school, another thing that she was thankful for because she wouldn’t want anyone driving if they were intoxicated. But now that her duties as a hostess were over she could just focus on celebrating her birthday with Dom, even if it wasn’t her birthday yet. She knew that he wouldn’t have missed her birthday, but still she had been so relieved to see him at the beginning of it all because she had missed him even if it had only been a few weeks since she had last seen him.
“I’m not really worn out, I just want some peace and quiet” she said with a smile, “And obviously to spend time with you since like I said earlier I didn’t get much time with you. Did I tell you I missed you by the way?”

Dom, for one, could never decide if he explicitly liked parties or not. Sure, they were fun most of the time and managed to put a smile on everyone’s faces, but he could never help but feel like his personal space was always being invaded. That people that he barely knew got too close and invade that precious parameter. Not to say that he didn’t like touching people, because he did, within reason. He’d hug his sister and Nada, kiss her and do other things like cuddle, but those were people he knew and cared about. He’d never been a germaphobe, so he could offer a handshake to those he met, or a fist bump, whatever suited their fancy, but the feeling of having people brush up against him intimately when he wasn’t expecting it, well, that made him uncomfortable. Mostly because he’d been raised to believe that affection was something that you showed only to those closest to you, that it was something to be kept private and touching was to be kept to a minimum in public. It just left him with an uneasy feeling in the pit of his stomach. He could tolerate it, usually, when it was infrequent and harmless, but continuously being brushed and touched at a party wasn`t his idea of fun.
“It was a good one,” he laughed lightly. “Even the wallflowers seemed to enjoy themselves.”
Then again, sometimes a party was just what people needed, like in Nada and Mira’s case, when a lot of people weren’t entirely certain of where they stood. Deciding to actually celebrate their birthday together, along with that of the other set of twins, was just reassuring the rest of the royals, and the public since it had seemed to be a fairly publicized event, that they were getting along, despite their previous division. Dom, for one, was glad that the sisters had found their middle ground, and that it would suit them for the time being. He couldn’t even imagining being at odds with either of his sisters, but that was mostly because he tried to be active in their lives, even in the smallest of ways. As of now, he wasn’t entirely certain of how Nada and Mira were going to sort their individual situations out, decide how they were formally going to treat each other, but he knew that Nada would tell him when she was ready. And that he’d be perfectly comfortable with helping her hash out whatever details she couldn’t deal with alone. Yes, she’d grown up with a brother, but having a twin sister was entirely different, and she still had to deal with the fact that her parents weren’t her birth parents, and that the crown could potentially be taken from her if she wasn’t careful. But she was loved, by her adoptive family and her people, and that was probably making the transition much easier.
“That sounds like a marvelous plan to me,” he grinned, glad to get her alone and away from the people. While he didn’t mind sharing her sometimes, Dom liked to monopolize Nada at every opportunity. One of the many perks of being her fiancée. “I missed you too, lovely,” he said, pressing his lips to hers softly as he pulled open the passenger side door of his car for her, offering a hand to help her in.

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- She had been hoping that everyone would enjoy themselves at the party. Even though the guest list had been people that were close to one of the twins, and of course there had been that whole power to veto someone. But they had all seemingly agreed on who they didn’t and who they did want at the party, so that hadn’t been much of an issue. Even though it had been a little awkward to celebrate her birthday with Mira’s, especially with the knowledge that they were twins. Even though it had been months, it was still difficult for her to process. Luckily for her, everyone had been so supportive and mostly everyone still treated her in the same manner, so that allowed her to remain somewhat level headed. And it had allowed her to have fun, and she was glad to know that everyone else had enjoyed themselves as well. Especially because she knew that Dom had been watching everyone as well, so she could trust his judgment on the whole party. Though she wouldn’t really know how anyone had been a wallflower given how difficult it was to stand in one spot with how close they had all been in the ice box.
“I’m glad” she said with a smile, “I don’t think it would have been good for people not to enjoy themselves”
She was excited at the prospect of them just spending some quiet time together, because it had been hard to even get a few moments with him throughout the party. She would have been content with spending all evening with him, but of course given that she had been playing hostess that would have been rude. But it was all over, and they could retreat to their own little place without really worrying about anything. She was sure that both Ana and Bethany didn’t expect her back in their dorm tonight, and all of the presents had been taken care of. She would worry about opening all of them, and sending out the appropriate thank you notes the next day. She placed her hand on his face for a moment as his lips brushed against hers, and she could only smile. To think that at the same time last year, she had been trying to avoid falling in love with him. And now they were engaged, and she was happier because of it. He was probably one of the main reasons as to how she hadn’t gone crazy yet, with all of the changes in her life. Knowing that he loved her, no matter what, and that he would be there for her was what allowed her to remain strong. She removed her hand from his face as she took his hand as he offered it to let her into the car. He gave his hand a light squeeze to his hand before she released it as she settled into the car, placing her bag on the seat next to her.
“It’s a good thing the girls aren’t expecting me to be back tonight" she said, “Or I might have had to stay up most of the night writing thank you notes for all the gifts. But of course our plan sounds so much more appealing”

“Well, be contented in the fact that it will be difficult to top that party,” he said with a light chuckle. Sure, Vineheart was as much known for its high standard of education as it was for its parties and delinquent royals -truthfully, Dom had been counted among them, though only once in every blue moon- but actual parties, those with a purpose that were well-planned out by the hosts were sometimes few and far between. The teens all preferred going out together as groups to get sloshed or forming impromptu get-togethers in the river bed or somewhere even more ridiculous. He was sure that all the careful planning by all the girls was completely worth it and that this party was going to be remembered for a while. More so, he was glad that all four of the girls had gotten the experience they had; especially Nada and Mira. As their first joined party as twins, it had gotten off to a very good start. If it was any indication of how things were going to be in the future, he could be that much happier that everything had gone off without a hitch or a bump in the road. Then again, if there had been anything that hadn’t gone as planned, they probably wouldn’t have heard about it. Servants and staff were notoriously good at passing things off as nothing even when it was something huge that had happened. Most of the time, it was better that way. Personally, he’d have rather had the girls enjoying the night rather than worrying about anything other than having a good time.
The soft slam of the door and the purr of the engine were as familiar sounds to him as the one of Nada’s voice, though he always made sure to pay much more attention to her than his car. She’d have his hide if he didn’t, or at least he knew one petite brunette that would. He was at least glad that Nada’s friends understood, and weren’t going to complain about him taking up all of her time. She deserved it though, that much was for sure, and Bethany and Ana were certainly better off getting the night’s rest rather than having an excited Nada plunging into her gifts prematurely, as anyone was expected to do. All in all, it was beneficial to them all. Though Dom was certain he was getting the better end of the deal. After all, they weren’t going to see their beloved friend while he had her all to himself.
“Am I not always more appealing than thank you notes?” he joked, giving her a sidelong smirk as he peeled out of the parking lot, grasping the stick shift tightly with his free hand. While he wanted to savour the drive, he was much more excited to get to their place and be able to relax. Hopefully, Nada wasn’t too worn out and could savour what he had planned. A nice long soak in the Jacuzzi with some choice lighting and her favourite scents would serve to relax her if she wasn’t already. And, of course, that would only serve to kick of the evening, then they would be able to do whatever it was she wanted most. While he liked having things planned in advance, he always like to have her opinion, that way, he’d be certain she’s enjoy it no matter what. “Anything in particular you'd like to do when we get settled in?” he asked, slowing down and taking a turn cautiously. Normally, he'd go a little quicker, but Nada was precious cargo after all.

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- She was sure that someone might be able to top the party, maybe not the amount of birthday girls. But people always tried to outdo one another when it came to birthday parties, even if it had never been something she did personally. This party had been large by scale since usually she only did something small for her friends, and herself given that she never made such a huge spectacle of it. But it had seemed like such a good idea to just combine all four of their birthdays given that Bri and Viv were only a few days older than Mira and Nada. But either way she knew that some obsessive royal would definitely try to top the party, and Nada was okay with that because it wasn’t about the party exactly. All of the people she cared about the most had been at her party, and that’s what birthdays were for her, spending time with the people you loved most. Even though receiving presents was always fun because she liked to see how the presents reflected the person who gave them to her, because they all had a rather distinct mark. And well Nada liked to open presents, it was that one childish thing she had always kept as part of her personality.
“Well in some aspects yes, but in others no” she said with a smile, “And you know how some people are, they just live to try and top others”
She played with her locket for a second, an absent minded habit that she needed to get rid of. But she was sure that it was some sort of subconscious thing for her now, given what the locket contained. After all it had two pictures, one of her family when she was a little girly, when Javie was about a year old, and a more recent one. The locket had been something that had kept her sane after all the news, looking at it and reaffirming the thoughts that the pictures in the locket were that of her family. Her true family, because no matter what her blood said, your family was where your heart was and in her heart she knew who her family truly was. She pushed the thoughts aside, this was not a moment for her to be thinking about that, she just needed to focus on that she had just had a great party and now she was going to spend some time with her fiancé. She let out a small laugh and a nod when he asked that he was more appealing than thank you notes, because he truly was. It was still so funny to think that a year ago she wouldn’t have ever thought that she could be with him, and now she was engaged to him and she was happier than she had ever been. At his question she pondered for a second, she honestly didn’t really care what they did once they got settled in. She probably wanted out of her dress though, even though it had been comfortable and lovely for the evening it was starting to irritate her a little. So yes she just really wanted out of her dress, probably into whatever clothes she still had at their place. She hadn’t really bothered to update whatever was in her closet because most of the clothes really weren’t that old.
“I don’t really mind what we do, I just want out of this dress” she said, “It was comfortable enough for most of the evening, but now I just want out of it”

Even if he had enjoyed the party to a great extent and that he was glad the girls had been a great success and enjoyed themselves also, he couldn’t deny that he was happy to get away. Of course, he always enjoyed monopolizing Nada’s time, even if it meant stealing her away from her friends. But he’d had to share her all evening, so it was about time he got her to himself. He was her fiancé after all and that meant that he was allowed to sweep her away off her feet from time to time. And he didn’t see her complaining. After the night like the one they’d just had, he was certain that Nada was looking forward to a little relaxation, even if it meant being away from her friends and everyone else for the rest of the night, not to mention all of her gifts were going to have to wait for one more day before she got to open them. Those could wait; however, he knew she’d be itching for them all night – who didn’t love opening presents? Even if you were a royal who could have the world at the snap of your fingers, seeing what other people got you, especially when they were close friends and family, and how much thought and time put into them. Regardless if it was something you needed, or even something you didn’t want, the sentiment was still there and that made them important. At least Dom was fairly sure that his gift to Nada was something she’d use, hopefully frequently.
“You enjoyed yourself, therefore, it was perfect all the way around. I think the combination of it being for the four of you was incredible enough,” they didn’t get many combination birthdays at Vineheart, and now they could combine four together, it was bound to be bigger and better than it would have been just for one person, “I don’t think they can really reach that level. Especially not if they’re doing it on their own.” There was something about the grandeur, the magnitude of celebrating four people at once that he doubted any one would be able to attain again. That is, until next year when the girls were at university, though he wasn’t sure that they would even be close enough together to combine anything, let alone have the time to host an elaborate party. “I’m afraid you may have started a trend of joint birthday parties though. We’ll have to see what the next one is,” he chuckled and concentrated on the road for a minute, picking up the usual motion of Nada playing with her locket, something that at first he had found odd but had become accustomed to over their time together.
“Well, I could help you with that,” he said, looking over at her and wiggling his eyebrows in a suggestive fashion, knowing that she had not meant what she’d said to construed in that manner, but being unable to help himself. He just loved teasing her, and if he could make her blush that pretty pink colour he loved seeing grace her cheeks, then all the better. “Though I don’t think my car would be the best place for such, activities,” he chuckled, looking back to the road and rubbing his thumb across the back of her palm. The sooner they got to their place the better; the drive had never seemed so long, even if they’d only been in the car for a few minutes. Truth be told, he was almost as excited to get her out of that dress than she was.

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- She knew that they had done something original, after all it wasn’t every day that you had two sets of twins who were only a few days apart. Twins. It was still a scary concept, even after all of these months of thinking about the fact that she had a twin sister. She knew how close Gabriella and Vivien had been as kids, and she often sat there and wondered if she would have ever been that way with Mira. They were too different, but Nada was sure because of their circumstances though it might have just been a predisposition. Nonetheless she tried not to let her thoughts linger on that aspect for too long, after all even though so much had changed, the one thing that hadn’t was that she loved her birthday. As a little girl she would be excited over the day that was all about her, but as she grew older it was all about spending a fabulous day with her friends. And this year had proven to be just the same, and even better because they were all eighteen now. Adults, and even though that would have scared some people, it made her relieved. Because even though there had been so much going on, she was trying her best to just keep cool and just enjoy her remaining time at Vineheart.
“Well it would be difficult, after all everyone else has pretty separate birthdays, so it would be kind of hard to blend parties” she said, “And well it helps that I love both Bri and Vivien so much so I wanted to celebrate my birthday with them”
She laughed when he said that they might have just started a trend of joint birthday parties. She didn’t doubt the possibility of probably beginning that trend but it would be a rather difficult one. Nonetheless it was a funny thing to think about. She settled her head back on the seat, as she continued to fiddle with her locket. It brought her comfort, not that she was uncomfortable, but for some reason she felt the need to touch it sometimes, as if to affirm that everything was real. After all a year ago she never would have thought that she’d actually be in a car with Dom, without having to hide the fact from everyone. Now here she was sitting in his car, and they were engaged, and they were headed to their place to relax for a while. She smiled at that, knowing that in some ways her life was turning out better than she could have ever hoped for. She turned to look at him when he spoke again, and she let out a small laugh at the way he wiggled his eyebrows at her. She was still blushing, she couldn’t help it because well those types of comments were kind of embarrassing for her sometimes. But she realized just how what she had said could be taken in that way, and she couldn’t help but laugh again when he said that his car was not an appropriate place for such activities. There was no doubt in her mind that he would try to help her out of the dress, heck she wanted out of it in the first place. But still she found it funny the way he could just say that to her, and keep a somewhat straight face in the process. How things had changed. But she liked it that way, she liked being able to hear those types of things from him, because well it was those things that made him who he was.
“Oh I’m sure you would love to help me with my dress, but since your car is no place for such activities you are going to have to wait” she said with a small laugh, “Though I’m pretty sure I can take care of removing my dress on my own, don’t you think?”
