February, 2012
The wind blew hard against the windows and caused a lot of very creepy sounds which made Constance shiver when she was wandering around her room and collecting her stuffs. There was no way she would spend the rest of the night in her dorm alone. Her roommates had not got back yet even though the spring break had been over for quite a while so the dorm was as empty and quiet as a grave. The wind slamming the windows and hissing every single night did no good to her situation obviously. Constance was a brave person who was never afraid of any kind of punishments or forces. She has the incredible courage to pull pranks on people who were thought to be extremely horrifying. She had thought there was nothing could freak her out until the passed few days. Always being surrounded by people had made spending the long silent nights alone in a large and cold room become so overwhelming to the Swiss. It was even creepier when she usually had strange feelings that there was somebody staring at her from the back but no one was there every time she turned around. Constance did not believe in fairy tales but she did believe in ghost stories. The idea of having a white ghost follow her around all night clearly scared her to death. She had never stopped hoping that her friends would come back sooner but the foreseeable future told her that she would have to spend at least one more night alone in her dorm. That was not going to happen. Stefan was a savior to her when letting her stay with him for one night, just like the way they used to did when they were much younger. A fool could tell how happy Constance was when she knew that. She wasted no time but got on packing right away. Well, she was not going to somewhere far away from her dorm so a blanket would be good enough. The little Swiss quickly put on her pajamas and a coat outside it, grabbed her blanket and got out of her room.
It was still a little chilling and that was probably why there was nobody in the hallway. Constance walked as fast as she could, but not running. She could feel someone following; and according to the ghost stories, if she ran, she would be caught by the ghost immediately and who knew where she would be dragged to? Hell, perhaps? Life at school was absolutely different from life at home in Switzerland. The palace was always lightened by dozens of lights and there were always people in the hallway, whether they were the guards, servants or strangers. In short, Constance felt much safer even if she was alone at home. She knew that people would rush to her whenever she needed with just one call. She was treated like a treasure although her parents were stricter to her than they were to her brothers as they believed that their sons were old enough to understand the rights and the wrongs while their daughter was still so childish and irresponsible. Nevertheless, here she was literally nobody. Almost half of the students at Vineheart were royalties and all of them were treated equally no matter how big their countries were. Constance apparently could not call anybody here, except her brothers. She was glad that she was not too embarrassing to be their little sister. They were like saints, honestly. They were so perfect that Constance had to doubt whether she was really their sibling or not. Standing by them, she was only a shadow. But that did not make her stop adoring them. They were all she wanted to be like but she did not intend to copy them as she knew her own value. She might have so many flaws and was imperfect but she had never seen anybody in this world looked like her or sounded like her. She was sure that no one was more afraid of ghosts than her. The Swiss shivered as a cold hard wind blew by. She decided to run Stefan’s room as soon as possible or she would be eaten by whatever was following her. She stopped at the door of his room and began to jump ridiculously with worries on her face. “Stefan, Stefan! Open the door! A ghost is following me!†She yelled after knocking on the door.
