Dante is a cool an calculating person. He analyzes everything in a way to try and map out his future to fit his plans. Everything that he does is very deliberate and has reason.

From an early age, Dante was always kept apart from others. He didn't play with his siblings or his cousins, he was only allowed to leave his father when Gabriella or her family came to visit. Now, as he's up next to inherit the throne and his father is ill, he feels like a threat. His only real friend, who he saw daily, was Bella, his personal assistant.

Dante has a hard time with his lessons, so he must be extra focused in order to absorb the information. He believes that because he did not grow up in the setting his siblings did, that he didn't get the same learning experienced. Where they were allowed to ask questions and discuss things amongst themselves, he was rushed through to make it to the next engagement.

The only way for Dante to protect his family and to prove his worth to the crown is to be good at deception. He must pretend to love his betrothed and hide his ways from the world in order to be happy.

The only person Dante can see spending his life with is Vivien Emma. She started out as an acquaintance and somewhere along the way, he became absolutely smitten with her. History
Raul and Hermosa, like almost all nobles of their generation, were in an arranged marriage from birth. The fact that they actually did fall in love was only an added bonus after many long years of manipulation from their home courts. So it came to no one's surprise when, after only six months of marriage that the couple announced they were expecting their first heir. After Dante, his parents quickly birthed three more children all roughly a year apart.
Being the oldest child and the first in line for the throne, Dante spent much of his time with his father and his father's steward while his siblings remained with a governess. Instead of learning the normal lessons his siblings were learning, he was to sit in on Parliament meetings, diplomacy hearings and, yes, even war council meetings. His lessons were kept up by a private tutor who worked with his younger siblings tutors to make sure he was learning everything that they were. He didn't pick up much from these lessons as there was so much to absorb in such a small amount of time, that now he really must strive to keep his grades up and he, at times, feels very stupid.
Dante is very close to his mother and, when he's at home, he enjoys sneaking to the kitchen with her to make the things passed down from his mother's family. He's rather distant from his father as he resented all of these earlier meetings and the relationships he missed out on with his family. He loves his siblings with all of his heart, but he is very distant in order to protect them. He feels his is a target to his family as he is the heir, so he doesn't want to get too close to them and he feels it's too late to develop a relationship anyway.
He feels his only real friends, and the break to the solitude he felt, were the English twins who would come to visit often, and his servant Bella. He had always known about his future marriage to Gabriella Nicole and had tried to make sure they got along. With his father ill, Dante knows he will need to take over to rule in less than a decade, if not before he graduates. He is not secretive about his lifestyle because he believes in the ultimate deception; the worse his reputation is, the bigger the change when he turns his life around to be king. But anyone who knows Dante well, knows that he will only suddenly learn discretion.
Dante's fourth year at Vineheart came with many new adventures and added responsibilities. For the first time ever, Dante and his siblings were all in the same school, at the same time, being taught by the same teachers. Which meant he had to watch over the younger ones and make sure they didn't fall into any traps. His good friend Xavier had taken him on as a protege to the exclusive Kings of Vineheart and while Dante was studying for the Spanish throne, he was simultaneously studying for the King of Kings. At the end of the year party, Xavier had announced that Dante would be the head King during his Fifth year. His mother managed to pin down the date of his summer wedding to Gabriella and has been pestering him nonstop with questions about flowers, thank you gifts, wedding attendants and the like. To add insult to injury, just before the Rose Ball, he fully realized his love for Vivien, although he hasn't been able to bring himself to say those three little words. He convinced her to come to Spain for the summer under the guise of helping him plan the wedding, but they'd spent most of the time sneaking off and getting lost together.
And the closer that Dante gets to school starting, the more unhinged he becomes, although he is trying hard to keep it quiet. After the bender the week before the Rose Ball, Dante had promised Bella he would get clean and fly right. And he did pretty good at it- he cut back on his drinking and cut his drug use all together except for the fact that he smokes pot, since he believes he will never stop smoking pot. The trouble all started at his masquerade ball- his first official political party- when Clara, who Dante had used mercilessly for sex when ever he wanted, tried to ruin everything by broadcasting that he and Vivien were an item. He had retreated to his room after the dinner was over and gotten so drunk he couldn't remember his name. And then his rock, Bella, had gone on vacation with Xavier and his mother had caught him smoking pot in the stables. By the end of the summer, he'd been sneaking into the Palace pharmacy and taking whatever he wanted to dull his nerves. It was his palace so it was his property after all, right?
He's determined to make the most of his last year as a free man. With his wedding looming in July and his Coronation in the following December, he's taken on a fuck-em-all attitude and doesn't care who stands in his way. After all, he doesn't have much to lose.
