As they say back down at the table, she offered him a humble thank you as he pulled her chair out. She sat down, and sipped on her drink slowly as they wrapped the conversation down. ”As lovely as sitting here until tomorrow would be discussing hopefully more than our ages”, she said with a wink, ”it is getting kind of late and I feel sure you want to see that Alyssa gets tucked in and you’re there to say good night.” She said, looking to him. She didn’t particularly want the night to end, but they both could probably use some sleep as school was starting in just a couple of days and they would go back to the grind.
They finished their drinks, and were ready to leave shortly after. Signe tucked her hand into the crook of Ned’s arm as they made their way from the table to his car. As he had been all night, ever so much the gentleman, he opened her car door and she slid in. The drive back to the house she shared with her best friend and Wida was not awkward nor silent. They made small talk in the car and once they arrived, he walked her to the door. She hugged him shyly and pulled out her keys to unlock the door. Since Wida and her children lived there, they tended to keep it locked at night. ”I had a fantastic time. Thank you, Ned. Give Alyssa my love, and tell her about the private recital you two get one day, hopefully soon.” Unlocking the door, she turned around one last time and waved goodbye before walking into the house.
