Personality
Nerdy* Tanner prefers to focus on school and reading more than anything else. Yes, he has friends and he socializes, but he doesn’t make it priority. He’s more into reading and watching nerdy television shows. He could waste his entire day watching the SyFy network – especially if Doctor Who is on. He also supports the Oxford Comma.
Sweet* He was once dating a girl that lived in another country. Knowing that he was going to be unable to Skype with her for a few days, he recorded a video of himself saying her favourite words and phrases so that she could hear and see him whenever she wanted. He does sweet things for girls that he dates, but it’s never the typical flowers, chocolates, or promises that he has no intention of keeping. Still, somehow, he can’t get the girl.
Real* Tanner is who he is and that’s all that he is. It doesn’t matter to him what someone thinks of who he is; he will stand firm with the person that is inside of his heart and mind. Even if his opinion is unpopular, it’s still Tanner’s opinion and he will back it up. With Tanner, what you see is what you get. If you don’t like it, walk away.

History
Whereas most boys would have been severely upset that there was obvious favouritism going on in the household, where the father loved one kid better than the rest, Tanner wasn’t really affected. Ever since before Tanner was born, Matias was seemingly more important to King Pietari than anything else. But it worked out because Matias was more of a man’s man, so to speak, than Tanner was. Tanner liked being nerdy and listening to music and singing and reading much more than he enjoyed sports. Yes, he liked rugby and American football, but just to watch. He never really wanted to play. And it didn’t bother him that his father wanted more time with Matias because of this. What Tanner got, in exchange, was time with their mother.
Tanner never wanted to be king but when presented with the unique opportunity of attending Vineheart Academy, he had to take his parents up on the offer. He had to take up the choice of being better educated, as he loved education.
Tanner has been at Vineheart since the moment that he could enroll, and he has been making the grades. But he’s been missing out on having fun with girls or partying – because he doesn’t know how to do that. And he’s afraid to ask his brother to take him under his wing. Tanner doesn’t want to make Matias embarrassed, but he really does want to spend more time with him. After all, Veli is Finnish for brother. They should spend more time together, right? They are brothers.
